Looking back at Lenoir as she stood there holding her hands so perfectly at waist level like the proper woman she was now by title. Bewildered to no end and by all means she had no clue what was to come that would simply stun her more if not hurt more.
"I don't know you any more," narrowing her eyes as she looked at him. And that was the truth that reflected so perfectly upon her visage. He was not the Angel she knew nor feared when she was his 'student' back at the Opera House oh those many years ago. She was beginning to take a fancy to this bolder Lenoir but now... now she wasn't sure, leaving her so utterly confused and hurt.
The best was yet to come!
Her face sank as her eyes slightly widened with disbelief. Had he finally gotten over her? Was she no longer the object of his affections? In a way, it hurt her for there was that little bit of her that clung to the fact that her Angel of Music still loved her and would do anything for her. He still wanted her. But now... now... that was no longer the case. She almost felt sick at the thought that Lenoir had moved on. Sure, yes, she moved on. No. No, she really did not. She muddled through life as best as she could, forced to appear that she had moved on. Namely for the reason of her son.
Each word that Lenoir stated about this Teressa was like a sharp little stab into her gut. Restraining herself from looking utterly pained, which seemed to be a trademark look of hers now, she could no longer look at Lenoir as she diverted her eyes from him to the floor.
Made her choice. And let him make his.
Oh, this hurt. Her mouth opened slightly and her bottom lip felt so heavy but she stayed the tears from welling in her eyes.
The rest of what Lenoir said to her was distant as though she could not hear it. This was a great turning point in her life. Lenoir and Raoul Edouard were her only links to her past. A past she felt as though she could never let go no matter how hard she tried. Wanting so desperately to cling to that little bit of happiness in her life she still wished she had. Before father's death, her world was perfect. After that, it had completely shattered into chaos. Constant, uncontrollable chaos.
Distantly gazing down with barely a noticeable hunch with her hands clasped tightly at waist level, utterly... stunned.
When he said 'good-bye' it was like when she left him in that lair all over again. It hurt. It ached. It killed her. Feeling her soul and every part of her being rip apart. Despite he was a man, he was still her Angel of Music. He had helped her in the strangest of ways that she never knew how until after that night.
Good-bye.
It sounded so raw and wry and uncaring to her. A sharp barely audible inhale through her parted lips while still in that distant daze, not even looking at Lenoir.
It was over, wasn't it? It was truly over.
She felt the tears well in her eyes and did her best to stifle a sob. No. No, she will not show this while he was here. She turned away from him, hiding that singular tear that streamed ever so slowly down the side of her face. And soon enough another followed to join it only to hover at the corner of her mouth. Like a kiss... good-bye.
