Adina gave a small gasp of joy, her eyes wide and almost sparkling now with delight. "Oh gods... To be alive again, I-... I never thought I would be able to enjoy anything ever again. Even if this were the work of the Devil, I am just glad that I can savor the world once more."
She hurried out of the bathing room and towards the kitchen. Oh, the food! The drink! What would she have first? She entered the kitchen and looked through the pantry and fridge. Everything looked so appetizing. What to try, what to try? Adina quickly began to prepare a plate of brie cheese, fresh fruits, caviar, and other fine cuisine. Her mouth watered; she hadn't smelled the delicious scent of food for a long time. Her nimble hands quickly ran over the neck of a bottle of champagne and popped the cork before taking a flute glass and filling it until the bubbles spilled over.

A slight smirk as he watched her, listened to her. Rambling on about her new found second chance. Though would it be the bliss she hoped or thought it would be? "Yes. Go enjoy," he simply told her.
Following her, not exactly from afar but not exactly beside her. The whole time he was amused by her overjoyed new reality. In the doorway of the kitchen he watched as she moved around the vast room, obtained foods and drink to sit and enjoy them. A bittersweet smirk upon his face as he turned away, leaving her be in the kitchen to her awkward dining experience.
He awaited her in the Dining Hall. Gazing out one of the giant windows at the scenery below. It wasn't the gardens where... ahh, Teressa. He sighed. This feeling was awful. Just as much a sinking feeling as it was with Christine. But he would figure a way out nevertheless. No, the scene he beheld was the forest off in the distance, with much of the estate, and pastures. Just standing there observing as he waited for the woman to finish her next indulgence.

The young maid went to the long dining table and paused a moment... She had never been allowed to sit there except once when the King of Ghosts helped her into the afterlife. She remembered how kind he was yet she forgot his face. Could that be because she was mortal again? That she started to forget some of the ghosts?
She slowly reached for a knife and fork... They were cold, smooth, her hands gripping the handles. And yet they were terribly dusty. She wrinkled her nose and took up a napkin to clean then, no sense in eating with filthy utensils, she thought to herself. After a good polishing, she set down the handkerchief and lifted a small forkful of brie and salami to her mouth...
...It. Was. Incredible! Oh, the sweet, creamy cheese and salty grains of meat were utter bliss in her mouth! Adina dropped her fork and put a hand over her lips, closing her eyes. She wanted to savor this moment as tears dotted her lashes. The pure delight as she let the morsels play upon her tongue. Sweet, salty, savory, bold, and delightful flavors seemed to burst upon her palette. She plucked up a grape and popped it into her mouth before picking up her champagne flute and taking a small sip. How the bubbles danced in her mouth!
After she had finished, she looked over at Erik and wondered what he was looking at. He seemed to be very intense as he stared out the window. What was so fascinating about the forest? There wasn't anything out there, she thought, except for small animals and the trees, perhaps a stream or two, but that was all. The maid looked down at the skeletal remains of the grape branch and apple cores, picking up the plate, cutlery, and glass before turning to take them back to the kitchen... She paused, keeping her back to him.
"Thank-you," She said, her voice gentle and warm. "Thank-you for escorting me here and allowing me to take my time with my meal. I hope I did not keep you waiting." With that she quickly went back to the kitchen to clean the items and put them back in their proper place.

Barely glancing back at her as he kept his gaze at the window looking over the scenery there. His mind wasn't even paying attention to the greenery or life that just nonchalantly continued outside the Manor. But he wasn't sure if he should even be contemplating thoughts about her at all. Both of them actually.
Finally a glancing twist to look at Adina, that pretty little maid, as she finally enjoyed what it was that had been denied of her. Sad. Truly sad. He'd not been that deprived.
Turning his gaze to the window and she removed herself to the kitchen, but nearly shocked when she thanked him. There was no reply until after she went into the kitchen and he softly said more to himself, in a slight whisper-" you're welcome."
Turning away from the window after a while, he paced slowly around the room. His thought roaming and racing through his mind, about everything and yet nothing.

The maid quickly began to scrub the dish and cutlery, still humming a different tune from the one before. Her mind was so preoccupied with her second chance at living again that she didn't even give a passing thought as to what Erik was doing. She only went about cleaning and drying the silverware and humming a bit louder in her happiness.
After drying her hands upon the skirt of her dress, Adina went back out to see Erik pacing about the room. She smiled and curtsied politely... There was still a tinge of fear in the back of her mind and yet she began to divulge more about herself to him than anyone else every knew.
"You have been a most gracious host, monsieur," She said, straightening back up with her hands folded in front of her dress. "Perhaps I could be of service to you should the need arise?" She was still very fond of work and helping; mayhap this could begin to break the ice between Erik and herself since he still seemed a bit cold. Behind his frightful and bitter outlook she longed to hope that there was someone else in the manor she could try and, in vain attempt, become better acquainted with so she was no longer alone and frightened in this place.

If she only knew what he could possibly do with her and what he might do anyways, she wouldn't thank him in the slightest. His gaze locked upon her in a rather uneasy manner for a while before looking away. "Satisfied?" He simply stated? As he slowly stalked towards her only stopping halfway as he stood closer to the doorway than he was closer to her.
Motioning for the dining room entry way that led to the rest of the Manor, "I shall... keep that in mind," he said slowly. Now his mind was pondering what ever to do with her. A pretty thing, yes. But his mind... was all chaotic and he wasn't thinking clearly right now. "Is there anything else that you wish to see? Do?"

Adina nodded and quickly looked away from Erik's gaze. Something about his eyes, his terrifying eyes, seemed to look straight into her soul. She couldn't help but take a step back as he approached her. Still not completely trusting of him, though she tried hard to see though his hardened exterior to peer at the possibly kind and benevolent man within… She was foolish to think that but she didn't even bother to entrain the possibility.
"No, thank-you," She said, giving a polite bow. "I already know the manor by heart. But I would like to just sit a moment to collect my thoughts. I'm still quite overwhelmed by all of this, you see." And she was indeed very overwhelmed. She was alive again, eating, drinking, savoring all that life had to offer. And yet she still felt empty. She wanted to voice her needs but not to Erik, it would surely make her blush with shame, the poor thing! But what could she do?

Seemingly to perk up in interest when she mentioned she knew the Manor already. He stood there, glanced at the door then back at her, "Would you mind showing me around?"
The nagging upon him was annoying and making him feel a little antsy. He was not so keen about jumping at damaging her. Never was he like that, especially towards women. Except that annoying squawking Carlotta.
Moving slowly towards the door as he motioned to it in hopes that it would urge her to say yes.

She smiled happily and gave a polite bow of the head. "It would be an honor, monsieur..." They passed through the great dining hall and kitchen before entering the foyer. She showed Erik all the grand rooms of the manor: the ballroom, opera house, library, and the dormitories... She had not been in most of these rooms while she was alive. She knew to point out these places to the guests and previous occupants, but never did she dare to actually venture into the rooms.
They both stood in the long hallway of the dormitories, rows of doors leading to each room along the winding corridors. She dared not linger here too long and wanted to go back to the library where she felt most at home in the manor... Now what was he going to ask of her, she wondered and looked at Erik as he studied each room she had shown him.

Walking along with his guide, the fiery hair young woman who apparently was a former Maid of the Manor. Making keen observations and taking mental notes of all he was shown. Now doubt will come in handy. He knew about some of the secret panels and wall passages. Someday he will explore those a little more. This Manor seemed to hold secrets and he wanted to know them or at least, perhaps, be a part of them.
"So," he began in that soothing growl as his eyes shifted back to Adina after looking about. "You know this estate well." More as a statement from thinking aloud. "What now do you plan to accomplish now that you have... resurrected?" Watching the fine young Maid. Oh, no. She could not be classified as a Maid any longer. Could she? Was she employed here and in the services of the Master of the Manor? "Do you intend... to return to your... old... ways?" His eyes locked upon her as they seemed to ask other questions such as her intent, desires, misgivings, secrets, etc. If he was to take pleasure in tormenting her, he had to do this right! But then again... what is torment?

"Well," The maid stammered, a bit unsettled by Erik's voice. It made her uncomfortable, how he spoke in that particular tone, caused shivers to run up her spine. "I am obligated to know every part of the manor to perform my duties to the fullest."
"But," Here she paused... Who really was the master of the estate? Charles was dead, just as she had been. But now that she was alive, there was no one to really serve! She couldn't serve the King of Ghosts, whom she longed to meet, and she couldn't serve Charles. What was she to do. "I... I suppose I do not know. It seems I cannot return to my duties of a maid since there is no one to serve in the manor anymore."

Watching her intensely as he listened to each word. Restraining a smirk that threatened to spread upon his mouth. So now he was getting some where. She was alive once again... and without purpose. Now he could get down to business.
"I wouldn't say that," he stated. Remembering that they were, in fact, not alone here at the Manor. "There are people here. Residing here it appears." Pausing as he glanced about then returned his eyes to her. "So... now you are.. without... purpose. Hmm?" Still locking his gaze upon her. "What's the point of living if you haven't duties to perform or a purpose." It was a mixture of harsh words that hoped to make her think a bit about her situation.
Reach over as his fingers took hold of her chin to make sure she looked at him, into his eyes. Studying her face and her eyes. It was always said that the eyes were a window to a person's soul. In many cases... it was true. "So what.. is a Maid suppose to do... if she can no longer be a Maid? Hmmm? Perhaps... a different... purpose?"

"I wouldn't say that..." What did Erik mean? Did he know of someone else who lived in the manor to whom Adina could serve? Perhaps someone nicer? Better than Charles? Her eyes widened as she listened to him explain, as if hanging on every word. But then... Without purpose??
... Without a purpose?! How could he be so cruel?! Adina's once elated smile slowly dropped to a slightly gaping expression of shock and horror. But, in all truth, he was right... Oh gods! She was so lost without being told her duties or ordered to check on people. What was she to do??
She gasped when Erik took hold of her chin, her stomach tightening as her lower lip trembled. She could feel his eyes, his dark, grim eyes boring deeply into hers. She felt vulnerable, almost naked before him as he insinuated that she were to now serve a different purpose... What purpose could that be? Oh, she was too terrified to think or even utter a whimper of fear. What was she to do?
What was she to do?!

Erik was on his way to the kitchen. He needed some supplies. They were always abundant in the kitchen and seemed to be free for the taking. He walked throught the large wooden doors of the dining room and glanced at the long case clock. It had stopped. He wound it again and set it from his pocket watch. Then he pushed open the swinging door of the kitchen.
Erik had expected the kitchen to be as usual, bereft of anyone there. Instead he saw lovely maid Adina and of all people, Destler! He was holding her chin so she had to directly look him in the eye and speaking to her, Erik thought, a bit menacingly. She looked very frightened. What was he up to now?
"Destler? What the hell are you doing?" asked Erik sharply. Then he gazed at Adina and said in a softer voice, "Are you all right, dear?"

That voice! C-Could it be??
"E-Erik!" Adina gasped and ran to the masked man. She nearly collapsed against him and trembled with fear... It felt so nice to see a familiar face once more. Tears ran down her pale cheeks as she looked up at Lenoir, her chest heaving with each sharp and pained breath she took. "I-I'm frightened... Please, help me, please."
But all that ran through her terrified mind were Destler's words. A different purpose. She dreaded to know what he had meant. All she wanted was to stay in Lenoir's arms where she felt safe.
