Resting comfortably in bed from a good nights sleep. Definitely slept in since no one came in to wake her. Slowly her eyes opened with a slight moan of peace. The poor older woman was confused often enough. Awakening in this room confused her more. It looked like her room... but yet, it was not. There were differences. Not sure whether to trust her senses or not. Usually someone would have come in by now. Slightly concerned and a little annoyed. She sat back and waited. Before she knew it, she'd fallen asleep again.
Waking once more, still morning but it was later that morning now. Still no one had come. "Goodness! Is there not a soul about? Come! Come! Pray, is there anyone?" after a moment. "Goodness!"

(( MOMMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! 8DDDDD ))
Christine was pacing throughout the dormitories, shaken from the recent experience that she and Raoul in their recent journey to the village. Something was most certainly not right here! Christine didn't know what to make of this situation any more. That village... the village had been like nothing she had ever seen or experienced in her life, and frankly, it was quite frightening.
She was pacing about, attempting to make heads or tails of any of this when she heard a voice that made her pause. Goodness! Is there not a soul about? Come! Come! Pray, is there anyone? That voice... No, it couldn't be! Mamma Valérius was still back in Paris, and from the looks of it (though she hated to admit it) in another time as well.
She wanted to dismiss the voice as merely a hallucination, but she kept hearing it. She was beginning to think that she was going mad in this place... Oh, what harm would it do if she went to look? She was already clearly going insane. Chasing after phantom voices wouldn't make it any worse. After all, she had done so before on different account...
She followed the faint found of that voice until she came upon a white door similar to all of the others with a name engraved upon it like the others. What caught her by surprise though was exactly what name was engraved there.
Adelaide Valérius...
Could it really be?... Her hand shook as she reaches forward and placed it on the knob of the door. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, praying that somehow she wasn't going mad and that this was real. Cautiously, she opened the door and peered inside, the walls and scenery looking all so familiar and making her heart stop for a moment, hoping for the best.
“Mummy?” she said a bit softly as she slipped inside the little ill-lit room. “Mummy, are you here?”

Perking up a bit believing she heard something- no, not something, someone! A familiar someone! "Christine?" Her eyes turned in the direction where the voice came from. "Is that you, my dear child?" Her eyes lit up at the thought.
Indeed! It was her dear adopted daughter! Oh, joy! The largest smile ever seen or possible appeared upon the old woman's face while those clasped hand then released as she outstretched her arms towards the young woman. "Oh, my dear girl, Christine! Come in! Come in!"

((I wasn't sure exactly where within the contents of the novel you took mamma from. How much about Christine's “good genius” does she know? Did Christine stay with Erik yet and has Raoul visited her?))
The girl's eyes lit up when she saw the little old lady lying in bed and she practically rushed into the room to her side. That once devastated confused and in-shock expression upon her face was almost instantly replaced with one bathed in the nectar of euphoria. Th girl's hands were trembling with excitement. After today especially and what she and Raoul had seen in the village, she had thought she might never see her dear old Mamma Valérius ever again!
“Oh, Mamma! It is you! I was so worried.... I do hope that you are well and that the maid has been taking care of you. I'm so terribly sorry that I have not been home as of late. You must have been worried sick...” She sat o the side of the bed, next to her dear old adoptive mother and took her hand, patting it gently and smiling warmly.

Arms outstretched to Christine and drew up her hands as she finally came to her bedside. An old smile spread upon her worn face that did not match by any means the sparkle in her childlike eyes. Delighted to see the youth that she was so fond of.
"I was beginning to think that your Good Genius would not let me see you again for a spell." her face was that of mild disappointment that soon rose to a warm smile again. "But..." holding her hands out wide," here you are!
A frown returned, like that of a pouty child, "Now where ever is that girl! That maid. I'm famished and not seen nor heard one mutter from her!" Rolling her eyes as huffed as she dropped Christine's hands and placed her own hands in her lap dramatically. "I do swear."
Turning her gaze back to Christine she softly smiled again." So... do tell me of all that has been happening at the Opera, my dear."

A warm smile spread across the girl's face as she sat down on her adoptive mother's bedside and wrapped her arms around the frail old woman in a hug, a few tears escaping from her eyes as she did so, before letting her go again and letting the woman take her hands in her own. “Oh Mamma... I thought that I would never see you again... Yes, yes, here I am...”
She had not bothered to tell the old woman what had occurred in the time after her 'Good Genius' had abducted her from the prison scene of Faust, as she felt it would have given her such a fright it might have scared her to death!
Considering though the recent experience she and Raoul had had in the village, she wondered how Mamma Valérius had managed to end up there. She most certainly couldn't have walked there...
“Mamma..... Mamma, I don't think that she is here,” she said when the woman asked about the maid. “We're...”
She paused. How could she break this to the delicate old woman without causing too much fuss? She took the woman's hands and gave them a tight, yet gentle squeeze, smiling and looking into her eyes, trying to give the most pleasant of airs despite how shaken she was from all of the recent events. She was, after all, a very good actress.... when she wanted to be.
“We're.... away for a while. I'm not at the opera any more; I retired. Raoul and I are getting married, remember? We went away for a while so that he would not get in trouble. Someone moved you while you were sleeping; we didn't want to wake you.”
It was at least partially true, but she hoped that it would keep her mother from prying further.
“I can get you something to eat if you are hungry.”

A mixture of emotions from delight that Christine was here to disappointment as she bounced her hands while holding Christine's hands. "So much for good help," with a little side glance liken to an eye roll and a sigh before shaking her head.
Listening though as she turned her clear gaze back to the little blonde, looking more like an innocent expecting to hear a very good answer. "Oh," she stated softly, quickly as she let go of one of the younger woman's hands and made a motion with her fragile fingers of barely touching her temples then away as she shook her head as though in some uncontrollable tremor, closing her eyes a moment. Looking rather silly in her absent-minded state. Silly her. She'd forgotten all that Christine had told her. After her little stint of forgetfulness, she looked back at Christine as slowly it registered about the Marriage. "Oh, yes yes!" taking up the younger woman's hands again. "Raoul! Oh, I am so happy for you, my dear!" She lowered her head and tilted it to the side looking like a young blushing innocent again, "Where is the handsome Raoul? I've not see him in some time." Then the smile disappeared as she looked a little bewildered. "I thought you two were not on good terms, my dear." then once again, shook her head as she looked like the had a tremor, and brushed it all off, like she reset herself as if to say silently 'no matter'. Silly old woman that she is! She seemed to jump from one subject to the other with odd curiosity.
With a focused innocent look and raised brows she looked at the younger woman's face while listened then brightened up with a warm smile. "Oh, yes. Please. Would you be a dear and bring me something? Nothing too much. I'm not that hungry but I am hungry." Passing the girl's hand with a smile, "And some tea." Furrowing her brow yet still looking glassy and innocent. "I'm having a desire for tea. I haven't had tea in a while you know. I do so miss the tea that I was able to get from Perros. They had a nice tea that was brought in from England I think." then looking a little bewildered and lost. "I don't know what kind of tea it was." Then shook her head again like a little tremor and brushed it all off as if once again to say 'oh, well. no matter' silently.

((Oh dear... why do I sense mommy scolding daughter coming on? XD She's still wearing the plain gold ring like she promised Érik, if you want to bring that up...))
Christine shook her head and chuckled lightly at the old woman's little fit about 'good help.' “Mamma, I assure you that she would have come had she been able, but she had to stay behind. It's no matter though, really. Things will work out fine just the same.”
The girl's smile faded a bit though when her mother dropped her hands and started rubbing her temples. “Are you all right, Mamma?” She asked, scooting a bit closer on the bed, “You are not falling ill, are you?” She watched for a while with concern. She knew that she had some medicines in her room that she had found previously. Perhaps she should go get it. Her room wasn't far...
She was brought back from her thoughts though, the smile returning to her face when her dear old adoptive mother brought up the marriage, asking where Raoul was. “I'm not sure where he is at this precise moment, Mamma. He may have gone to his quarter, or he may be back at the village; I'm not sure which. I'm sure that he would be quite happy to see you again though, mamma.”
She couldn't help a slight blush of embarrassment when the old woman mentioned her and Raoul not being on the best of terms with each other. Of course out of everything she would remember the argument they'd had... “Well... no.... we weren't for a while, mamma, but we forgave each other soon enough. You and professor Valérius sometimes had disagreements. I... I was just... upset. You know he had no right to ask me those questions like he did, when he did. It was for his own good anyway....” She muttered the last phrase like the defensive child she was. She had been genuinely afraid for Raoul that day – afraid for what he might have done should he have found out all that Raoul knew...
The girls slight pout disappeared and her face warmed again at her mother's request. “Of course I can bring you some tea, Mamma. Earl gray? I believe that was the name of it... anyway, I think that there is some earl gray in the kitchen that I could make for you. What would you like to eat? Anything at all in particular?”

A sort of mixed look of defeat and annoyance from the elder woman knowing full well that perhaps Christine was right. Though she did somewhat find it hard to believe. "Of course not!" looking at the younger woman with a rather stunned bewildered gaze. What ever gave that girl that idea? she thought. "I assure you, my dear, I am absolutely fine." And presented a strained innocent grin.
"I look forward to see the young Vicomte again, m'dear," smiling at her warmly with a hint of what she wanted, while patting the young woman's hands. Very eager to see the young Raoul indeed! Seeing that little look on Christine's face when mentioning Raoul. She smiled at her with that sort of look desiring gossip.
Brightening up a bit. "Ooo, yes! That sounds lovely, my dear!" a bit of glee in her voice and brighten visage. "Do make some for yourself, too, and have tea with me. I would like that very much you know." Keeping that bright old lady's smile on her face.
While patting her hand, she noticed the ring. "I see you still wear your promise to your Good Genius?" With a little sheepish grin. "And does the handsome Vicomte still not approve?" It was a little bit of gossip that she missed, this little drama. Even though she never quite understood it. How and why that Raoul would ever disapprove of the Angel of Music was beyond her.

“I was merely asking, Mamma. I just wanted to be sure. We wouldn't want you getting sick again.” The girl smiled upon her adoptive mother, quite happy to hear that she was well.. “I'm glad to hear that you are doing just fine.”
Christine nodded when Mamma Valérius told her that she was looking forward to seeing Raoul again. “Oh,. I'm sure that he is looking forward to seeing you as well. He'll be so relieved to know that you arrived here safe and sound. We had been a bit concerned, having been forced to come before you, that it.” It had become an art of hers to tell the old woman exactly what had happened while still managing to leave her enough out of the loop with enough blank details that she did not know fully what had happened and would not worry. She'd been forced to perfect it with all that had happened with Érik and the Angel of Music.
Her smile only widened when the old woman's face lit up with the mention of the tea. “Of course, Mamma” Earl Grey was certainly not Christine's favorite tea in the world, but she didn't mind having a cup just to share tea with Mamma Valérius – especially after thinking that there was a chance that she could possibly never see her again.
And then, her smile dimmed a little when the woman mentioned her 'Good Genius.' “Yes...” she said, with a bit of hesitation. “Yes, I do... No, he does not exactly approve... Mamma, you never told me what you would like to eat,” the girl quickly started, hoping to shift the conversation away from her 'Good Genius.' “Is there anything in particular which you are hungry for?”

Patting the younger woman's hand as she smiled back with those wrinkled lips and a light throaty noise that was some very poor attempt at a snicker or measure of wordless approval.
Drawing her hands away to rest upon her lap with a little flop, "Tell that young man to come visit me! I very much look forward to his visit," she grinned before giving Christine a little slightly raised brow and a look of scandal, then shakes head head while blinking them. "Your Good Genius has been there for you. Raoul should be a little more grateful for all He's done for you." Nodding slowly again, "A consummé sounds good, my dear. Or whatever you can find. I won't bother you to make a huge meal. I'm not all that hungry.* Never really ate a lot, more ate like a little bird with a couple or few bites of whatever was given to her. "Perhaps a little... stroll... later? Could you take me around this place we've come to? I don't remember coming here at all. I'm curious to see this place." She tried to grin again, looking more like some silly absent-minded little girl.

Christine gave a light chuckle at her Mamma's reaction “Of course I will tell him, Mummy. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to see you.” Her smile then faded again briefly when the old woman brought up her 'Good Genius' again. “I know, Mamma, that Raoul can be a bit.... overbearing at times, but he means well. He's just concerned with me being away so much, an seeing that we are to be married now, I can easily understand why he would be....” Especially since this 'Good Genius' ha threatened to kill them all – but Christine was not about to tell that much to the frail old woman.
The girl faltered a bit when the woman asked for a consommé. It had been a while since she'd done much cooking and was relearning here at the manor. She had managed to find one cookbook that was in French, but the majority of things in the kitchen were written in English, do she had some difficulty in reading. “No, Mamma, that's all right. If you want a consommé, then I'll make you some consommé. It may take a bit of time though.” She only hoped that there was a consommé recipe in that cookbook... “I can bring up the tea though while it is cooking.”
And then, she could not help nut to completely burst out laughing at the woman's last statement. She quickly covered her mouth and then took a few deep breaths, attempting to regain her composure. “I'm sorry, Mamma. Please forgive me for laughing like that, but... I do not think that we can very well walk around this place with you in your current state.” She smiled warmly and rested a hand on her mother's. “I do not know where there would be a chair for you here, if there is one at all. And we wouldn't want you getting hurt if I tried to help you to walk out. You will get to see it soon enough though, Mamma. Raoul is working to get us passage back to Paris soon enough, and when it is time to leave, we'll make sure that you have been able to see the place, but not now. Right now it's just better if you rest here.”

A sweet little smile turned to a little mix of joy, curiosity, and concern. "Married? How wonderful, my dear!" Then a little serious face, "Does your Good Genius approve of the Marriage? Hmm?" Raising her brows to get the truth of this.
Waves her hand, "Oh, no bother then, my dear. If there's no consummé in stock, then something small will suffice," as she rested back upon the pillows, her hands now resting properly upon her lap. "And yes, tea would be nice." Smiling at the younger woman.
That smile disappeared as her brows slightly furrowed while keeping her sights upon Christine. About to speak but that's when Christine spoke up. She listened to all the girl had to say and was not pleased. Piping up her little old lady voice to scold the younger woman, "Christine Daaé!" she snapped slowly. "It's not becoming of a young Lady to burst into such an obnoxious laughter!" Scowling at her then flopped her hands upon her lap while glancing away. "I'm well aware of my predicament and just because I cannot walk as I did when I was a young girl at your age does not mean I haven't the right nor delight to move about!" Glancing at Christine a moment, before lifting her head again a little higher with a scowl still upon her face. "I want to see this place we are staying and I shall!" then a little softer in volume- "Whether with or without you." She was not at all pleased with how Christine behaved and she was showing it. "In the meantime, find a wheeled chair." Then turned a confused gaze to Christine. "We are not in Paris?" Then shakes her head touching the sides of her temples. "Oh, dear Lord in Heaven..." she trailed off while offering a plea to God to at least save her sanity around this bewildering young woman. These past few months have been mighty trying with her.

((900!))
Christine wasn't quite sure as to how she should respond to her adoptive mother's question It was a complicated situation to say the least since Érik had approved of the being wed, but he was acting as if he hadn't, which confused her greatly. Before all of this had happened, she had come to respect and to trust Érik's word, as he respected her himself, but since, he seemed to have forgotten all of his recent promises. She had initially thought that it was all because he was in fact the one who had brought her here, but in light of....recent occurrences, she wasn't sure what to think about the situation any more...
“He.... had approved, though now I am not so certain... but why should it matter either way, Mamma? Why should he be able to tell me who I can and cannot marry?” It was something that irritated her severely. She was quite tired of being constantly told what she should and should not do. She was not a baby and she was honestly a bit tired of being treated like it all of the time. She was perfectly capable of making her own decisions.
The girl nodded silently when the old woman again insisted that something simple would suffice. She supposed that she could bring something simple with tea in the mean time and then leave a consommé to simmer in the mean time. There was no point in arguing it. The poor old woman was too kindly to insist upon it, though she had clearly asked for it before. It would be a nice surprise later on...
She flinched a little when her mother suddenly scolded her though. She didn't quite understand. Yes, she had laughed, but she had apologized, and it had not been mean-spirited, nor had it been particularly 'obnoxious'. “But mummy, you'll hurt yourself! I told you that I was sorry for laughing...”
The girl sighed a little and shook her head. She was quite used to her adoptive mother's forgetfulness, but that didn't make it any less frustrating at times. “Yes, Mummy, I told you that we were not in Paris any more. We had to leave, remember? So that Raoul would not be in trouble. I do not know where there is a chair here if there is one at all. Please just be patient, Mamma. I'm doing the best that I can...”

Listening with cool interest before smiling and patting her hand. "Give it time, Christine, my dear. It's a sudden change. No doubt the Angel is not ready for you to leave him, no doubt he believes you can still benefit from his services," the old woman smiled.
Nodding as she leaned back a bit, "All is forgive." With a moment's pause, "Do you think I was going to walk about, my dear? Oh, heavens!" almost an eye roll and flop of her hands again, but not quite, "Indeed I would have hurt myself terribly if I even so much as made an attempt. Yes," nodding, " yes, I shall wait for when you find a good wheeled chair to do some exploring." With a slight smile, "I do miss little ventures with you, my dear Christine," not that she remembered having any with the younger woman, but she had in her mind some glorious walks and outings with the adoptive daughter.
