Before the woman could continue their conversation, Meg felt a downpour upon her head. She gasped, as the water was starkly cold, but not nearly as cold as the Hudson in winter. The thing Meg was most worried about was her hair. After all the hard work she put forth to fix it nicely for the party, it was ruined! She wanted to cry, but instead followed everyone outside to the other rooms.
She walked toward her Christine, flinging her drooping strand of hair over her shoulder and rubbing her arms. "What a lovely party..." she said sarcastically. "Your gorgeous hair, honey, and mine too! Isn't this awful?!"

A couple more people came out of the now drenched room where the party had previously been taking place, but Christine still did not see Mamma Valérius among them. She was quite concerned for the old woman’s well-being, as she was not sure how the electric chair would function with all of the water, and as she was also quite terrified with the thought of and possibility of the old woman catching cold.
It seemed as if no one else were even paying attention, as if they were not concerned about it at all—something to which the young bride-to-be could not help but to take offense to. Her eyes were wide with fear and concern, her lips trembling as she began to try to address the crowd of dripping women. “Please! Has anyone seen Madame Valérius!?” Was it truly so difficult to see the genuineness of her concern?

Roselin suddenly felt awful when she saw Christine. Her party seemingly had been ruined -though she thought it was kind of fun- and heard her ask where Madame Valerius was. She looked around and didn't see the wheel chaired lady anywhere and shrugged. "I don't thinks shes in here, someone might have already wheeled her out!" She called out to the worrying Christine.
Roselin looked at the people left in the room, which wasn't many, and the only other person that seemed to be enjoying the sprinklers was Svenna. She smiled and carefully skipped over to her. "Is it just me or was this not a bad party? I kinda think the sprinklers made it more interesting, now everyone has to start talking to each other." Roselin laughed, trying to make the situation lighter while still worrying for poor Christine who looked like the party had gone all wrong. In her opinion, the water made it more fun!

Christine was in an utter panic until she saw the little old woman in her chair sputtering up out of the room, drenched from head to foot even more so than the rest of them. The bride-to-be let out a sigh of relief and flitted over to her adoptive mother’s side.
“Oh dear… Mamma, look at you! You’re completely soaked…” she took out her handkerchief hoping to dry her off a little bit, but found it soaked as well, and commenced to a sort of hopeless dabbing for a few moment before finally giving an upset whimper and giving up. “Oh dear… I… I’m sorry, but… I believe this party is over… please, all just…. Just go back to your day. I…. I’m so sorry… Oh heaven, oh heaven….”

Christine Svenna really couldn’t see what the problem was with the sprinklers having gone on. She was having a blast, but it seemed that some of the others, particularly Angie for whom the party had been, did not seem to be enjoying things as much as she was.
Svenna shrugged a little when Angela dismissed the company, and turned to Roselin, whom had just been speaking to her. “Oh, I liked it,” she said with a giggle. “It seems we’re the only ones though. She looks kind of upset….”
Then she shrugged a little. “I suppose that if the party is over, we could always go do something else… movies?” She held her palm out in a sort of questioning gesture and waited for Roselin to respond about the idea.

Meg shivered in her outfit, which was most definitely ruined. Maybe it could be dry cleaned... Either way, the party was definitely over, and Meg was highly tempted to just up and leave.
Someone suggested a movie, but Meg really wasn't in the mood to spend inordinate amounts of money at the 21st century's overpriced theaters. "Thanks for inviting me, honey," Meg began to say to the little blonde Christine, "But I know a hair dryer is calling my name in my room. Can't wait for your wedding!"
With that, she left, stepping awkwardly in her water-logged shoes and sighing every few minutes.

Christine nodded a little, putting on a smile, though it was still quite clear that she was devastated. “Yes, of course, Meg… You’re welcome… I’ll look forward to seeing you there.” She nodded a little in acknowledgement of the other blonde woman, and then returned her attentions to her poor sopping wet adoptive mother beside her.
“Oh heavens… Mamma, we should get you dried up right away… Oh, I wish I had something with me I could give you to keep warm. You must be freezing…” The young lady fretted about, frantically searching through a few adjacent rooms to see if there was anything that she could use at least for the time being, until she could get Mamma Valérius up to her room and into a nice, warm, dry bed…

Roselin nodded in agreement when Svenna noted that they seemed to be the only ones that liked the little surprise shower from the ceiling and that Christine looked upset. She thought to ask her if she would be alright but she seemed a little better when she found her adopted mother.
Svenna then made the idea for them to go the movies. Roselin bit her tongue a little then nodded and smiled. "The movies sounds like a great idea! Maybe we could go to a water-park afterwards." Roselin joked and laughed then made her way out of the room to dry off and maybe get into some dry clothes so they could go to the movies. She wondered what they were playing tonight.

Christine Svenna grinned in delight when Roselin agreed and said that the movies sounded like ‘a great idea’ “Sweet! I think there’s some good ones showing right now… I wouldn’t really know though. I haven’t checked the listings recently” she giggled and began to walk off with the little blonde girl.
“Oooooooooo! The water park sounds like a good idea too! There’s one at the aquarium, I know. I could use my employee discount and get us in really cheap—we’ll just say you’re my sister or something.” After all, the two were almost like sisters, and with this, Svenna skipped off to go change for the movies and for the day of fun playing at the water park.

Carlotta waited till most of the people were gone, pretending to dry off when she was actually the driest out of all of them. Once no one else seemed to be coming, she turned back around the corner and saw the elder woman in her wheel chair, waiting for Christine to come back and attend to her once more.
She took this opportunity to stand a few feet away, continuing to pretend that she was wringing out some water from her hair. Once Christine came back, there was very few people left besides them. "My.... wasn't a total disaster.... would have been nice to speak with some people before cold water showering everybody." She chuckled slightly to herself, as if she were trying to see the bright side of things. Though inside, the whole situation really was bright for her.

Teressa had been rather quiet since her arrival, and once her gift had been given, she hadn't had much chance to socialize before the indoor sprinklers suddenly went off! Water drenched her hair, her clothes, her mask...
She went out of the room with the other ladies, and stood by the wall, attempting to wipe her hands dry on her damp clothes. Giving a little resigned huff, Teressa watched the others leave the party for the little Christine that Erik fancied so much. Feeling a little bit of pity for the girl, she walked over before she took her leave, and took the girl by the shoulder.
"Best of luck to you and your future husband, Christine. May your marriage be a happy one." She inclined her head a little, then let go of the girl and turned to walk away. Hopefully, Erik would forget about the girl once she was married. It never did any good when Erik fancied someone.
And if he chose a mortal woman - like he'd already exhibited with this little Christine - he'd only be devastated when she found out that he'd outlive her...after all, he'd been with a mortal woman once before, and that hadn't helped him any. Between Teressa and Erik, she figured that their kind wasn't destined for affectionate relationships with anyone else. Best to keep their family intact. Keep the family safe, secure, and free of heartbreak...that was their curse.

The little bride-to-be forced a smile onto her face as a response to one of her guests’ well-wishes for her and her fiancé’s future together. “Thank you, Mademoiselle Lavalais,” she said to her, and she waited until she had left before she allowed her outwardly pleasant expression to fade once more.
She bit her lips, her body beginning to tremble all over like a leaf in winter, as her old rival began to speak to her. “I am terribly dory for your inconvenience,” she managed to murmur in reply. “I… I don’t know what happened…”

Sorry for the inconvenience she said! Ha! It was meant to be much more of an inconvenience to Christine than to Carlotta, in fact, much more of a ruined party. Everyone driven out and leaving poor little Christine to the mess. Ah! What a sight to see, to see her struggle, she wondered what she would do for the actual wedding!
"Oh I am so sorry Christine... I suppose this may have happened to anyone. Who knows what set the things off. Tsk, tsk, what a shame in deed. Is there anything you need help with? If not then I might just go and get a little more dried off of course... not much else to do in such a large manor - such as this one." Carlotta concluded, looking sad and thoughtful. Oh yes, that is definitely what she would have looked like if she truly cared and hadn't been the very one to have set the things off. Yes, definitely so.

Christine closed her eyes, pressing her lips together in order to prevent herself from crying like a little child, and shook her head in the negative when Carlotta asked if there was anything at all that she could help with, a few loose and drenched golden locks hitting her in the face. The poor girl should have suspected then and there that there was something afoot, but she was so very taken by surprise with the whole incident that she did not give any thought to it.
“No, just… you go dry off. I’ll tend to Mamma… Thank you for coming.” It was all that she could do to prevent herself from bursting into tears. She just needed to get Mamma Valerius up and into bed, and then be alone a few moment to let her tears flow freely.

Christine denied her help and told her that she could go get dried off and thanked her for coming. Carlotta smiled and nodded, trying to look sympathetic but the moment she turned her back to Christine, a cruel Cheshire Cat smile crawled onto the Spanish diva's face. With that, she began to walk away, back to her room to get into something more dry.
Oh yes, that whole ordeal was very, highly cruel of her. Christine didn't actually deserve it but in Carlotta's mind, she did. Because Carlotta still believed that it had been the young blonde who had ruined her performance, made the chandelier fall. That night would haunt her for some time. It was also cruel of someone to have done that to her and she didn't even know how someone made her sound like a frog, either way... her work here was done.
