For so long she had not held her little boy in her arms and now she was able to. The sensation of holding that little body next to hers was the greatest sensation any mother could ever know. Life had given her many things, good and bad, yet made her a better person for it and all the wiser.
Eventually after a moment, she put a little distance between herself and Gustave as she gazed back at the boy's face with a tearful smile, her hand caressing along his hair and face as it was a full realization that Gustave was indeed here and not a dream. But the words between Raoul Edouard and Gustave made her soul sink just a little. This was more than confusing for when ever did they venture out onto Coney Island? From the sound of Raoul Edouard's voice he was starting to slip back to his former self, that overly protective and obnoxious man. At this rate, things would become worse than it was before! She had to stop it or at least try to null the on coming storm. "It's alright, Gustave, darling," she tried to assure the young boy as she glanced back at her Husband with a look of pity and saddened hope that he would at least not drag it out further. They were together at last. Was that not enough? Her eyes watching her Husband as she snaked an arm around Gustave and looked at the boy a moment before smiling at her son and brushing back a piece of hair away from his eyes then looked at her Husband and held an arm out towards him. "We are all here safe and sound. We're a family again." Pausing a moment as she smiled or tried to. "Let the past be just that - the past. "

Gustave shrank a little when his father asked him about when he had gone off. Hr had thought that he'd mentioned it to him before. Maybe he wanted mother to know? “M-Mister Y told me that he would show me his amusement park, and then when you and Mother were talking to Mother's friend, Miss Giry, I wandered off with Mister Squelch, Miss Fleck, and Doctor Gangle... I promise not to do it again... Are you cross with me?”
The little boy shuffled his feet in shame. He didn't like upsetting his parents. He truly had wished that he hadn't run off, for what he had come across had been so frightening... He looked back up though when his mother spoke, telling him that it was all right. He hugged her again when her arm wrapped around him and snuggled her. He was truly happy to see both his beautiful mother and his father again, and did not wish for the moment to end.

Edouard frowned at his son. "Yes, Gustave, I am a bit cross with you. I hope you have learned your lesson. Don't ever go off with anyone without asking your mother or me first. We...don't want to lose you. And who did you say this Mr Y is? The proprietor of Phantasma, yes I know that much. But what did he want with you, Gustave? I did not have the pleasure of meeting him, but believe me, you cannot trust everyone you meet. I hope you understand that." Edouard sounded a bit stern. He didn't think that Christine was strict enough with the boy.
As uaual, Christine said everything was all right. "It turned out all right this time, Chrsitine, but you know the boy had a great fright. And he could have been hurt. I should hope he's learned something." The reason that Edouard was acting just a bit off with his son was the fact that Christine made so much over the boy and Edouard himself felt neglected and ignored. There was a little jealousy between the two, but probably only on Edouard's part. When Christine was not there, things were fine. Edouard had Gustave's entire attention. But when his mother was there, Gustave was the centre of her attention, and Christine was Gustave's center of attention too, and it rather annoyed Edouard.
Gustave said he would not run off alone again and he seemed to look sorry, at least that's what Edouard thought. He smiled and bent down to his son's height. "Yes, son, it's all right." He hugged Gustave. Then he straightened out and looked at Emilie. "I'm glad we're all together again..." He smiled at the two of them, wishing he could be more sincere.

Doing her best - as usual - to comfort her boy draping a comforting arm around her son's shoulders as she stood, keeping him near fearful that he'd disappear once more. Now she was confused by what Gustave had said. When did he run off? Who did he talk to? Why? Where? Looking from down at the boy over to her Husband with a trouble gentle look wondering what had happened.
She desperately had to push all that away and forget about it. What truly mattered was that her son and her Husband were once again at her side! Life was perfect once again. Snaking her arm around Edouard as well as she smiled at both her gentlmen. So glad to have them in her life. Yes, everything was right. Her glassy eyes sparkled as she smiled, holding Gustave to her as she held Edouard close, leaning against him.
"What ever shall we do now?" As she smiled at them both, eyes dancing between Gustave and Raoul Edouard. "Hmm?" Pausing a moment, "Perhaps a walk around the pond and gardens outside? A visit to the stables? Maybe a madeleine in the kitchen? I made fresh ones." Opened to suggestions from either one to at least have a family day. It was long overdue.

The little boy shrunk a bit in shame when his father said that he was cross with him. “Yes, father....” he replied when Raoul had asked if he'd learned his lesson. The boy snuggled up to his mother as she draped an arm around his shoulders. He really was very sorry he'd wandered off, and never wanted to get lost like that again...
His mother asked what they should do now, and rattled off a list of options. The boy paused a moment, snuggled up at his mother's side. He'd really missed seeing her at all, but now they were together again. They were all together... He really wanted to hear his mother sing to him again, but maybe that would be better for bed time. “Can we go play outside?” he asked, hopeful.

When Emilie pulled both of them, Gustave and Edouard to herself, it comforted Edouard. He felt more like part of the family. Well, he should be! The husband was the head of the family and he should be well respected. But Gustave had listened to him and he felt that the child's fright would deter him from further escapades. Emilie was warm and comforting and he smiled as she pulled him nearer. Perhaps they could be a real family here, and no longer worry about money. They had shelter and food and entertainments and they were together. He didn't like Christophe de Chagny's idea of going out and finding a job. A mundane job! That was certainly beneath the Vicomte Raoul Edouard de Chagny. But it would be splendid to find a way to bring some money in. Sooner or later they would need it.
Responding to Emilie's and Gustave's suggestions, he replied, "It would indeed be splendid to take a walk and sit by the lagoon for a time. The weather is still lovely and a family outing is long overdue."

Nothing felt so right, so perfect than to have her son and her Husband at her side. Especially at this moment of reunion. So happy to be a family again. With a smile she listened to them and kept her arms about them. They comforted her with a reality that she had been dreaming about as of late. And now, it truly was a reality.
With the grandest of smiles and joy, she looked between her beloved men, "Then an outside excursion it is!" Leaned to her Husband and kissed him then leaned down to kiss the top of Gustave's head, "I'm so glad that we are together again." Smiling still, "Shall we?" In an effort to spur them both on to leave the Opera and enjoy an afternoon... just the three of them.

Gustave closed his eyes and have a big, cheesy grin as his mother kissed the top of his head. He was very glad to see her again. Now all three of them were back together again, just like they had been when they had arrived on Coney Island. It was, after all, a beautiful reunion.
He nodded excitedly when his mother asked if they should go. His father had said something about a lagoon. He still did want to learn to swim, very much, so. Maybe his father would be willing to teach him?

Gustave was grinning. "Does the sound of a little walk by the lagoon sound good? Is that why you're grinning? I am sure your mother can make a lunch for us and we can wander over to the lagoon and sit under the trees." He glanced at his son, then at Christine. Does the boy have clothing he could use for swimming? Perhaps we would all like a bit of a swim in the lagoon. I don't know what clothing he has here, Christine. If he has nothing for swimming, I would suggest a short trip to the village to buy something." Then he remembered, money was somewhat short. Perhaps he could borrow some funds from Christophe. The man was working and he certainly would not mind loaning a friend some money...would he? Why they were practically relatives...perhaps...Edouard wasn't exactly sure of that.
Money. There was not much need for it at the mansion, but in the village, it certainly would come in handy. A job. Edouard just could not abide the idea. The idea of a Vicomte working. Yes, Christophe had done it. And it seemed to energise him. He must think about this. Perhaps he should speak of it to Emilie some time when they were alone. He did not want to embarrass her.
"Gustave, perhaps a better idea is to have your mother make you a suit in which to swim. You can' do that, can't you Emilie? I have one of my own that you can use for a pattern and then just make it fit Gustave." He considered that he had come up with the perfect solution.
