Edouard de Chagny thought the time had come to have Emilie and Gustave reunite. It had been so long and the boy really needed his mother. Edouard enjoyed the time he was able to spend alone with his son, but he knew that Emilie would most likely be overjoyed to see him.
He walked to her suite, after having told Gustave to go to the opera house and meet him there. He didn't say a word about Emilie. He wanted it to be a surprise for the both of them.
Knocking at her door, Edouard hoped she was feeling better after her several bad enounters with some of the other residents of the mansion. He wanted her to tell him everything that had gone on with her since she had in effect, disappeared. He had an inkling of what had happened, but some of that could be rumours.
He wondered if she had met up with Lenoir. Edouard hoped that she had not and he also hoped that Lenoir would keep out of the way of Gustave. He didn't want that so-called Phantom anywhere near Gustave. Edouard didn't think that Lenoir would hurt the boy, but he also didn't want the man filling Gustave's head with all sorts of fantasies or strange ideas....or frightening him. He didn't know Lenoir very well, but he did know that he didn't trust him.
Edouard knocked again at the door. "Emilie?" he called through the door. " I hope you're here? I have someting important..." He could have gone in, but he preferred that she open the door herself.

Feeling better day by day since she was found and her encounter with the Devil Himself. It only spurred in her both a fear and a determination. Time will tell how everything will play out. Now more than ever, everyone in the Manor had to count on one another.
Humming and getting dressed in a lovely and soft dress. A knock upon the door captured her attention. As she finished up with putting on the dress while she continued humming. Looking in the great mirror with a smile, no longer caring that it was also a passageway as a fleeting thought. No doubt in many ways and many times that passage way will come in handy.
Moving from her bedroom through the corner of the sitting room in her suite, down the short foyer to the door and opened it. Her surprise was not the fact that he was here, but the fact that he knocked and awaited her instead of just coming in. "Raoul," her voice was a sprightly mixture of surprise and delight. "Something for me?" She was pretty much dressed and groomed well enough to step out. No jewelry on but that was simply fine. One does not always have to wear jewelry. Except her Wedding Ring, that she kept on and would never take off since she had gone missing. She almost lost the ring while she was in the tunnels. It was a miracle to have found it again.

Edouard was in a jovial mood today and he couldn't wait to have her see that Gustave had come to the mansion. And of course Gustave would be overjoyed to see his mother. It was strange when Christine had disappeared for so long and then finding her ill, it would not have been a good thing for Gustave to see his mother ill.
"Christine, you look lovely today," said Edouard. "I have a surprise for you, but it's not with me. Will you come with me to the opera house? ...the surprise is there." He took her in his arms and kissed her. It had been so long since he had been able to do that. It was so good to see her. He hoped nothing would spoil this special moment when their family would reunite after so long...

Stunned yet smiled when he gave a compliment. Feeling like that young Chorus Girl for a moment when seeing him for the first time after she sang in Hannibal. Her eyes sparkled with delight from his words.
That is until he mentioned the Opera House. That smile became a little strained at the memory of what had happened there recently. Not wanting to go through all that again. However she gained some courage, "Alright, let me-" Drawn into his arms and a kiss. She giggled into that kiss but did not by any means pull away. Instead she kissed her beloved Husband back with warmth and sweetness. When their lips parted she looked at him with a smile. All thoughts of her frightening encounter in the Opera melted away as she gazed at Raoul Edouard. "Raoul!" Giggling as she spoke while remaining in his arms for the moment, her hands resting upon his. "What was that all about?" she inquired sweetly and softly. Now she was curious to know what this surprise was.

((Gaaah! Sorry this took so long))
Gustave sat at an upright rehearsal piano that sat in the orchestra pit inside of the opera house. He had never been in this part of the manor before, but he was quite happy in finding the instrument there to play. It gave him something to do while his father was off and about. He had said that he had a surprise for the boy, and Gustave was quite excited for it.
The boy's feet swung back and forth as he sat on the bench, being that he was too short to touch the floor from there. He ran his little fingers over the keys, pressing them down and creating beautifuly pleasant melodies and harmonies as he did so.
He wondered, as he played, what the surprise could be. His father had mentioned possibly going into the village to get him a toy to play with... perhaps it was a new toy? Like a ball, or a train! He did very much miss his toys at home, but what he missed even more than his toys and his home, and everything and everyone else combines, was his mother.
The young boy boy wished that he could hug her again. All that he wanted when he had been so terrified seeing Mister Y's face, was to rush into her warm and protective arms and have her hold him and rock him...

"Let's go then!" said Edouard, putting his arm about his wife's shoulders as they left her suite. They started to walk in a leisurely way down the halls to make the trek to the opera house. Edouard hoped that Gustave was still waiting there.
"Christine, " he said, at length, "I hope that things will start getting better, that we can become close again. We have had our little differences and things have not gone as well as I would have wanted, but, I truly wish for our closeness again." He almost brought up Gustave, he was so excited for the reunion to happen.
They took the several long corridors and turns which led to the doors of the Opera House. The sun was streaming in the windows and a cloudless blue sky could be seen. What an excellent day. Of late, the windows had become sparkling clean and so had the stone floors. The furniture had been polished and everything dusted. Someone had been busy...The place was almost becoming home. That sounded odd, even in Edouard's mind, without verbalizing it.
Approaching the Opera House, Edouard could hear music coming from behind the doors. Little bits of piano melody and harmony floated to his ears. Nothing he had heard before, but of course it was Gustave, composing his bits of music and announcing himself unknowingly before he was even seen. Edouard smiled and glanced at Christine. Did she know her son awaited her?
They reached the entrance and Edouard simply held the door open for Christine and waved her in. He smiled.

It couldn't be helped. A lovely content smile spread upon her lips at the sensation of Raoul's arm about her. Oddly it was warm and inviting. Something she'd not felt from him in a long time. Perhaps this was a turning point in their lives. No more lack of trust. The past was the past. Here at the Manor they could have a wonderful future if they wanted it.
Slipping an arm around him as she walked by his side wondering where he was taking her and what this surprise was. Lost in his words as she smiled again. "Oh dear Raoul," while leaning against her Husband, in step with him, and deeply cherishing this particular moment. "We shall." Looking up at him with that never ending smile. "if you are truly sincere and want this, we shall."
As they approached the Opera, she stiffened and her breathing increased. The horrifying memory of that encounter with the Devil Himself! This unconsciously caused her to hold Raoul Edouard a little closer in hopes he would protect her from the great Evil that resided here. But the sound of music bewildered her and it showed upon her face. Was Lenoir practicing or testing out a new piano for his Opera? Looking at Raoul Edouard to see a smile instead of a frown only confused her more. If Lenoir was here, why ever would he be smiling? "What are you up to, Raoul Edouard?"
Striding through the open doorway as she eyed her Husband with leery curiosity and a smirk while he held open the door. Taking her eyes from Raoul Edouard to look upon the Opera that was still in desperate need of restoration. The music was louder and her eyes sought out the maestro believing she'd see Lenoir at the keys of the piano. Stopping in her tracks at the sight she beheld once her eyes found the musician. Could it be? She did not see Lenoir at the piano but... her own son! She could only stand there in disbelief. This was a vicious trick by the Devil himself! Perhaps Raoul was not Raoul but the Devil? She twisted around to look at Raoul but there was no vicious wickedness upon his visage. Twisting back around to look at the young lad. Truly was it her little miracle? Her darling boy whom she had lost and longed for these several months?!?
Tears welled in her eyes as her lips opened and tried to move. Her legs unable to take her to him kept her frozen in complete and utter disbelief at what she was seeing.

Gustave continued playing his little self-composed minuetto, initially unaware of the fact that anyone else had entered the opera house. For once, he was quite content with staying put as his parents had told him to. He was surrounded by the thing he loved most (other than his family, of course), and that was music!...
Sweet, sweet, beautiful music! He found that it was always a loyal friend – there to listen and to be heard. Music seemed to understand him perfectly, to lead him to wondrous things turn after turn! It followed him, it led him.... It was always there for him, even when his mother and father couldn't be, either because he was lost, or they were buy, or they were asleep...
A grin spread across the young boy's face, his eyes lighting up with pure delight as the music flowed from his fingertips to the keys of the instrument, and then to the air around him in the form of sound. After a while of playing, he began to cadence, until finally finishing in a perfect authentic cadence and closing his eyes blissfully, listening to the sound of the final chord as it resonated.

As Emilie and Edouard entered the opera house to the sound of beautiful piano music, Edouard smiled. His son was so incredibly talented. Perhaps even more than his mother, if that were possible. He was always composing someting at the piano, and it had grown through the years from being childish melodies to incredibly sophisticated pieces. Edouard didn't like to compare his son to Lenoir or any of the Phantoms, but really, he thouoght his son would be a rival to them when he was grown. The boy seemed a genius. Of course every father thinks his son is a genius, but Edouard felt he had better reason than most.
As Emilie became aware of Gustave being the pianist and that the beautiful music emanated from his hands, he pulled her closer and whispered, "Is this a good enough surprise?" He smiled, thinking how overjoyed Gustave would be to see his mother, too, once he came out of his musical rapture. He had seen Emilie in that rapture too, while singing. Not being anywhere near the musician that either of them were, he didn't know the joy of creating music, but he did understand how music could enrapture you and bring you to another place. It had happened many times when he heard Emilie sing. Her voice carried him away to heights of rapturous joy. And now his son would undoubtedly be able to do the same, and for many people, Edouard thought. He would likely become a famous musician. What with a mother with a wonderful voice and a grandfather wh0 could do amazing things with the violin, it was certain that he would be famous. Edouard was glad he had interited those musical genes.
Edouard gestured to Emilie to follow him down the aisle to the orchestra pit where the piano and Gustave were. Apparently the boy was unaware of his parents approaching.

Covering her mouth while gazing upon her little miracle. The boy had so much talent and it showed. But all she could do was watch her son as he played the music. Music that nearly fell upon deaf ears as she was so overwhelmed with the fact she was not seeing a ghost or a hallucination. Gustave truly was there! There seated at the piano playing such a wonderful tune. Tears were streaming down her face at this incredibly wonderful surprise. Almost not hearing Raoul Edouard but she turned swiftly around to take his face within her trembling hand and kiss him upon the lips with such emotion. After a moment's kiss, she looked at him and was crying such tears of joy that her face could never remain still nor her lips. She could barely see her Husband through her blurry tear filled eyes. "Yes," sobbing joyfully as she tried to reply, dragging out the word with an attempted grin.
Twisting around as she gazed in awe at her son. Once again her hand came up to her mouth while she continued to cry silently. Letting Raoul Edouard lead her towards the Orchestra, drawing her closer and closer to that little darling boy. Fidgeting with her arms crossing them, covering her mouth, once again crossing her arms, wiping away tears, etc.
She awaited that last note and cried more with trembling lips and tears, once again covering her mouth, a slight little noise slipped from her. Finally, as she struggled to speak, the boy's name finally burst from her mouth in such powerful emotion, "GUSTAVE!" Trying to hold her arms out as they were weak and trembled. No one ever got such emotion from her, not Edouard or Erik. Only her son could ever pull upon her with such overwhelming power.

Gustave jumped, nearly falling off of the bench, as his ears perked up at the sound of a rather familiar voice. Could it possibly be? Could that beautifully familiar voice possibly be...
“Mother!” the boy exclaimed excitedly as he turned and saw the face to which that voice belonged – that face which he had been so frightened without. He quickly climbed out of the pit and ran toward his mother and father in the aisle, throwing his arms around his mother and holding her tight. “Oh, mother, I missed you!” he said. He was so happy that he felt he could cry.
And that was what he did.
Tearfully, the boy continued. “Mother, where were you? I promise that I'll never go off without telling you were I am going. I was so frightened, mother! So very frightened...”

Edouard smiled as his talented little son heard his mother's voice and was so surprised he nearly fell off the piano bench. He ran to his mother and both of them were very much caught up in the joy of the reunion, as was Edouard himself. It was so good for them to finally be a family again after all these months. It would make being at the mansion nearly tolerable. The past months without Gustave had been bad for Edouard, but when he had finally arrived, Emilie had gone missing for some time. So f inally, the family was together.
Then Gustave began to cry.... out of happiness, it seemed. Edouard felt a bit ill at ease when the boy cried. He was getting a bit too old for such childish things. But Edouard supposed, it was true, this was an emotional meeting and it would likely not ever happen again, so he held his peace on the subject.
Then Gustave said something rather cryptic. He said he would never go off again without telling his mother where he was going. "When did you go off without telling us, Gustave? Certainly you've been quite the ideal son since you have arrived here." Edouard glanced at Emilie. "He truly has, you know. He's been staying with me and why, we have had the most marvelous times together, haven't we?" Edouard was stretching the truth a tiny bit, but he wished to impress upon Emilie that he had taken very good care of his son.

Still in a moment of disbelief as the boy neared her, almost believing it was hallucination and desperately praying that it was real. Arms out awaiting to collect her son and hold him near, to know that this was for real, no hallucination, no deception. Those arms trembled as much as her legs. Finally dropping to her knees as she cried through a varying range of emotions. Suddenly to feel those little arms around her, she cried aloud while wrapping her trembling arms around him, no longer weak but strong enough to hold him tightly to her. What once was lost has now been returned to her. NOTHING in this world could EVER take the place or priority of holding her little miracle. Her arms held him tightly, not wanting to let him go! This was for real! This was for real!! Gustave was safe and sound, now in her arms. Alive. Breathing. She cried and cried. So happy, so relieved. All those fears welled then fell away. Rocking her son with her in his arms as she could do nothing else but cry.
After what seemed like an eternity, she tried her best to compose herself but still was crying, tears streamed down her face as now she smiled, her face twisting with various forms of happiness and disbelief. Her hands came up to caress her little boy's face, to wipe away those little tears as she cried. "Oh, Gustave," trying to speak but her voice trembled and cracked. "I have missed you, too." Smiling bright as he gazed back into her son's eyes, her face just mere inches away from his, as she continued to caress his youthful face and hair and down to his shoulders and arms. She couldn't believe it! As her eyes took in the sight before her, she still was in a state of shock and disbelief! For months - for what seemed like an eternity! - Gustave has been missing! Gone! It nearly drove her into sickness and insanity not knowing where her darling boy was. Edouard and Lenoir BARELY got her through her darkest time. She broke down again and hugged Gustave close to her again. "Oh, Lord have I missed you!"
After a moment, she pulled back again to look at Gustave, a smile once again returned as the tears continued to flow. Glancing up at her Husband while still smiling, listening to him before looking back at Gustave. Once again, she held the boy's face in her warm, comforting hands. Smiling at her son with a soft sniffle and as a tear rolled down her face. "It's all right, Gustave. Everything is all right."Pausing as her eyes danced over that boy's face. She had so many words racing through her mind they disappeared just as they appeared. So many questions, so many answers. But she said nothing. Did not want to know anything. There was nothing that could be said or done that could make this moment any better but there was so much that could make it worse. No further words needed to be spoken, in her reasoning. Indeed, everything was all right. Everything... was perfect. They were a family once again.

The little boy snuggled close in his mothers arms, enjoying the warmth of her embrace. Oh, he had missed her so much! He never wanted to leave that spot, ever! He was so very happy to see her beautiful face. He had been so afraid without her. Yes, his father was there, but he was so used to going to his mother for everything...
When did you go off without telling us, Gustave? Certainly you've been quite the ideal son since you have arrived here.
“Before I came here, when we were on Coney Island,” the boy said in response to his father's question while rubbing his little brown eyes. “I'm so sorry, mother. I promise I won't ever do it again. I was so frightened...”

Edouard stood back as mother and son embraced and wept. He had thought that he would be included in the reunion. Oddly, a little jealousy was felt in his heart. It seemed that Emilie loved Gustave more than she did Edouard. That wasn't right. He always took Emilie away from him. And now probably Gustave wouldn't do much with Edouard anymore. He would probably spend all his time with Emilie.
Edouard sat down on one of the seats near his wife and son. He wondered if Emilie would even miss him if he had been the one that was missing. Then he chided himself for his jealous feelings. He knew it wasn't right to be jealous of his own son. But really the boy was so much more talented than Edouard had even been. Obviously he got tha tfrom his mother. But he seemed to be unusually intelligent too. In fact in that capacity, he seemed to surpass both his parents. And Gustave seemed to be able to command all of his mother's attention whether he was with her or not. Edouard sighed.
Edouard realized, from Gustave's response to his quest6ion about when did Gustave run away by himself, that his son had seen more of Coney Island than he had. He hadn't thought much of what he had seen of the place, but the answer piqued his curiosity. "Gustave, why did you run off like that and where did you go? Was it fascinating or...what?" Edouard was curious now. The boy had perhaps seemed to be frightened by whatever he had seen
