((Sorry, not the best of my starting posts but that's what happens when you try to write one 2 in the morning. ))
Madam Leona, one of the first few ghosts to have come to the manor, glided through the throne room. She spoke with King William occasionally, just enough to know what he was like. It was strange how little she truly knew of all the residents of the manor, despite how long she had been living there. However, though she didn't talk much to the other ghosts, didn't mean she didn't listen.
Leona decided that it was time to greet and perhaps chat a bit to the King as she had done so a few times before. And anyways... Madam Leona was in a very good mood. Very high in spirits (no pun intended) indeed. So what more lovely time to speak to another. She was so happy today, not caused by anything in particular, that her mood was even perhaps, fit for a King. So why not see the King?
Leona stood in the large dusty room, a room that once held such potential, such grandness. She had heard King William say on an occasion how he was so displeased with the room being so dust and in such bad shape. That was how all of the manor was however. Some of the ghosts believed that the characters could change that though... Madam Leona turned around to see the King standing not to far from her. "Good day your majesty," She said brightly.

• • • • • • • Will was tired and bored. It seemed like every day was on repeat, sometimes. And in a way, it was. Sometimes he thought about leaving the castle, but the furthest he'd gotten was the train station in town once. He was pretty sure he could leave, but the idea of someone seeing him and committing him to scientific research did not appeal to him at all. So he'd kept here mostly, for so may years...
It got so dull.
He was lazily drawing little pictures in the thick layer of dust the had grown on the window yet again. He had made attempts to keep it nice and clean many different occasions in the past, but it was something about the ghosts' presence that attracted dust and coldness. Soon enough, every time he fixed up, it would come into disarray once again and so he'd give up eventually. Still, sometimes the dust drove him crazy and all he wanted to do was clean it up.
His boring window-drawings were interrupted when Madam Leona came into the room and said, "Good day your majesty," looking quite cheerful.
Will liked Madam Leona a lot. She was quite like him, actually. They'd died close in age and both tried to stay positive but went a bit mad with the fact that they were half-alive sometimes. Leona also danced, something that fascinated and interested Will. Dance was something timeless; he knew how to do some traditional dances, and ballroom dances as he'd been required, but not ballet, or anything creative. Sometimes he wondered if he should pick it up; it might pass the time. Leona could teach him.
"Why hello, my dear,"
Will smiled at her, "Now, how many times have I told you, you needn't address me as your majesty." Still, no matter how many times he said that to the ghosts, most of them did it anyway. He supposed it was technically only right, but still, it bothered him. He wasn't really king of anything nowadays. The only reason he'd been appointed king of the ghosts, he thought, was because he was the only one with formal training on how to be a king; they didn't really need one in truth. Not most of the time anyway. There were some instances when it was helpful, however. [/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • • • • •

"Oh yes, I know William." She chuckled slightly, still being semi formal- which was just her. Madam Leona understood his need for not being called Majesty or King, though for her- she did want to be called Madam. But that is why there is a thing called preferences. Leona had a lot of respect for William, but it was still such a habit, even for a ghost, to still call him by such formalities.
Leona chuckled slightly, suddenly thinking about all the new living people in the manor. "My my, the size of the manor's residents is growing quite immensely, yes? Most of them seem to be getting along quite pleasantly I must say, much better then what would really be expected between all of those characters." She said quite happily. She then twirled a little bit, she couldn't help herself. She just felt... much in a sun shine mood today. Which was quite convenient for the King unless he accidentally upset her, which had happened before. Which happened to most people.
"Oh! And dear William, how has your day been faring? Most bright I should hope to assume, though perhaps a bit dull as well. I know the feeling. As you can see, without any causes, I am quite happy even if perhaps a bit bored. Though I am sure that is not to last long in with conversation." She said with extreme pleasantness. Yes, her random outbursts of happiness happened sometimes. Though with those bursts of extreme happiness came bursts of extreme other emotions. She could be very mood swingy, however, today, her good mood could quite possibly last the entire day. The bursts sometimes last for a long time... and then sometimes, they are only bursts and happen for only a moment.

• • • • • • • "Oh yes, I know William," she chuckled, and he smiled back; they had a nice understanding, the two of them did. It was a variant of friendly teasing. She seemed in a particularly good mood today as well, William noticed. "My my," she commented, "The size of the manor's residents is growing quite immensely, yes? Most of them seem to be getting along quite pleasantly I must say, much better then what would really be expected between all of those characters."
"Yes, I'd say so!"
He agreed happily. While he wasn't exactly happy they just kept on ruining peoples' lives with whatever they were thinking so strongly, or wishing, he was glad they weren't all outwardly going after each other with less than kind intent. She suddenly twirled with glee, and it was somewhat bittersweet, her cheerfulness to him, but he smiled. "Oh! And dear William, how has your day been faring? Most bright I should hope to assume, though perhaps a bit dull as well." she said, and he nodded before she gave him her likewise sympathies, "I know the feeling. As you can see, without any causes, I am quite happy even if perhaps a bit bored. Though I am sure that is not to last long in with conversation.""People are certainly a solution to boredom," he agreed. Interaction what he - anyone - lived for. Well... in his case... was dead for? He wasn't sure that term worked. "Now, you seem in an awfully cheery mood today, Madam Leona. May I ask, is there a reason for this sudden bout of euphoria?"[/blockquote][/blockquote] • • • • • • •

Leona nodded gleefully when the king had said that people were the solution. "Oh yes indeed! But most of them seem so busy in their own little worlds. Quite content to talk amongst themselves instead of any of us. Though I know that wicked Josephine had been having a little share of her kind of fun with some of them." She said, huffing a bit when thinking of Josephine.
William then asked why Madam Leona was in such a cheerful mood, and the reason was - she had no clue! "You know... I am not quite sure. Perhaps its just one of those days were things seem a little brighter or you feel like.... feeling something different. Or maybe even, with all the new arrivals... they are bringing quite the 'liveliness' with them." She said, then giggled a little, obviously intending for that pun on 'liveliness'. Really, what was more funny than a ghost feeling lively?

• • • • • • • Will huffed a small chuckle when she mentioned Josephine Though her pointing out the characters’ hardly wanted to interact much with the ghosts hit him where it shouldn’t. Instead, he made himself listen to her quite cheerful explanation of her happiness, "You know... I am not quite sure. Perhaps its just one of those days were things seem a little brighter or you feel like.... feeling something different. Or maybe even, with all the new arrivals... they are bringing quite the 'liveliness' with them." She giggled, and he alone with her, even though he was in a rare state of not being in the mood for jokes.
”I suppose they do, don’t they, Leona,” he said lightly. ”That they do.” He fell quiet for a moment, before asking her, without really thinking about it first, ”But haven’t you ever thought to leave this place?

Madam Leona automatically noticed that Will suddenly seemed not quite so happy and even threw her off a bit when he had asked if she ever thought about leaving the manor. She looked down for a moment, a light smile on her face though the burst of energy had sort of left now.
"Well... I suppose I have. I mean, who hasn't? But you know we can't, even if we wanted to. And besides... perhaps there is a reason that we are still here. In fact, I know what there is a reason we are here, at this manor." She said with a gentle sigh, smiling friendlily. It was possibly worse for a ghost to be in distress or depression because it wasn't like it could really end, they might have to be here for many many decades, there was quite possibly no end.

• • • • • • • "Well... I suppose I have," said Madam Leona. She seemed thrown by his question and he regretted his words already for dampening the mood. "I mean, who hasn't? But you know we can't, even if we wanted to. And besides... perhaps there is a reason that we are still here. In fact, I know what there is a reason we are here, at this manor."
"And what's that?" Will asked her, curious and tired at once. He thought of how he got on a train once, and then ran away, afraid of the end. He was sure it would all end for him if he left, after all, and after all these years, he was somehow still afraid of death. But he wouldn't tell her that, because then surely she would leave him too.
