The Vicomte Raoul Edouard de Chagny had wondered where his good friend Nicole had gone to. They had shared a lovely trip to the village over a month ago. They had had a wonderful time, however there was the strange situation of the townspeople seemingly recognizing both of them. Then they attended a school musical and Edouard was highly disturbed to find out that it was a complete representation of some of the events that had happened in his life about ten years ago. Namely, the time when the cruel monster and pseudo-Phantom Lenoir had abducted his Christine and the events which followed.
Of course Edouard had married Christine Emilie later, but the shadow of the Phantom always seemed over their marriage. Then when they had come here, they had met him in the flesh and he had again continued his pursuit of Emilie. Only this time, Emilie seemed willing to be pursued by the Phantom. What could she possibly see in that old, deformed, scheming man? Things had not gone well between Edouard and Emilie since then.
Then Edouard had met the lovely Christine Nicole Daaé. They had become fast friends and had even exchanged an embrace and a kiss or two. But then she had vanished. Edouard missed her. His talks with her were something to which he looked forward and really it was difficult to talk to Emilie these days. So he spent a considerable amount of time alone.
Today he took a walk about the gardens and walkways of the mansion for several house, then decided to relax with a good book. There was a small elegant Victorian sitting room with a bookcase of classics. It was where he and Lenoir had clashed over Emilie several months back. He didn't think he would meet the Phantom there again, though.
Edouard opened the door to the lovely room which was rather cluttered with beautiful Victorian bric-a-brac and beautiful, but interesting items. He sat on the settee next to the fireplace, which of course was not being used this time of year. It was comfortable in the room and he pulled the curtains open for a bit more light. He saw that there was a carafe of brandy in the cabinet and he poured himself a glass and sat confortably on the settee, opening his book and began to read.

Awakening in the bed that evening she couldn't sleep. Something wasn't right and something needed to be done. With frustration she looked around her room and she sat up in bed. Bringing her legs up to her she planted her head within her legs and sighed. After a while she pulled the covers off her and she climbed out of her bed. Finding her shoes she placed them on and she walked through her room and she opened up her door. She had the urge to explore the manor.
Before leaving her room she closed her door quietly. Hoping not to wake anyone up. Moving away from the door she managed to go down the stairs and she started to walk around. The blonde was curious upon why she was here and she continued to walk around her surroundings. It was a new place and it felt like time had stopped. Christine walked slowly around the halls and she said nothing that night.
It was such a strange place to be and she made her way towards one of the other hallways and she made her way down. Coming upon the library then she walked out the door of the library. Christine looked around her surroundings and wasn't sure upon what to do or say at this point. A sigh escaped her and she made her way into the library.
Nearly jumping as she turned the corner she looked upon a man sitting upon one of the chairs and she looked at him. "Oh, I'm sorry sir. I didn't see you" she whispered. "I hope I didn't disturb your reading.." she said placing a hand to her body she looked at him for a moment. Christine sighed and looked away then looked at the books around her. "If..you want me to go, I can" she said softly looking back at him for sometime and didn't know what to do.

Edouard had been in the sitting room, drinking and reading since late afternoon. When it had become dark, he pulled the shades and lit two of the beautiful Tiffany lamps that agraced the room. One was next to the chair he was sitting in and lent a lovely soft light, but bright enough for reading. He had been drinking for hours, but not a lot, merely sipping at a couple of drinks. He wasn't drunk, merely mellow and the alcohol relaxed him.
Suddenly Edouard looked up from his book as he heard footsteps oustide the door. His eyes flicked to the door to see if someone would enter. He was surprised that anyone would come in this room. He felt it was a place where he could be alone. But it was all right. He had nothing really pressing to do and he wouldn't mind speaking with someone if they wanted, or else continuing to read if they had no wish for conversation.
Then who should enter the room but his friend and confidant, Christine Nicole! He was surprised to see her for it had been so long. She said, If..you want me to go, I can... He jumped to his feet and the book fell upon the floor. His eyes wide and smiling happily, he held his arms out to her. "Nicole! Where have you been? I have missed you so much! And please don't leave..."
There was something odd about Nicole. She showed no signs of recognizing Edouard. He let his arms fall and he frowned. Perhaps something bad had happened to her since he had last seen her. He wondered, "Nicole, are you all right? Where have you been?" he repeated. "Come, sit down and tell me all about it..." He indicated a place next to where he had been sitting on the settee and picked up his fallen book. "Please, dear, sit down...I have really missed you." Edouard smiled...he was so happy to see her.

Christine looked at the man for sometime placing her hand to her waist and eyeing him for some reason. She had never met this man before in her life and she looked at him curiously. "Nicole? Non you must be mistaken Monsieur." she said softly looking at him. "Alright, if you want me to stay, I will" she said nodding her head to him. She was so confused. At why he was calling her Nicole. Who was Nicole.
The young blonde looked at him as he guided her towards the chair and she sat down as she folded her dress and sat down and looked at him. "I suppose I am alright. All confused, but still I guess I'm okay" she said nodding her head. "I missed you to?" she said curiously. "Who are you if you don't mind on me asking.." she said softly looking upon him brushing a stray of hair of her face.

Now it was Edouard's turn to be confused." You say you're not Nicole?" He wondered if she had a bit of amnesia. That would explain it... Edouard sat next to her. "If you're not Nicole, then who are you?" On a hunch he said, you know Monsieur Erik Carrière, don't you?"
Edouard was even more confused. "I'm the Vicomte Raoul Edouard de Chagny...I have been here for some months and we met..."he paused looking directly at her, his brows knit in confusion, "we met in the dining room...I was reading as I am now before the fireplace...we shared a few walks and we went to the village...surely you remember that..."
Edouard looked at Nicole carefully. She looked exactly the same, but there was an air about here that was different. She no longer acted like Nicole. And yet, who else could she be? He was happy she had decided to stay...perhaps he could jog her memory if indeed she had lost it...
Nicole or whoever she was seemed a bit ill at ease. She kept pushing hair away from her face, but she perhaps was as curious as Edouard was, for she said she would stay. Edouard was happy she decided to stay, but felt strange that she had no recollection of him...or...said she had no recollection...Perhaps it had something to do with the fact that he was married to Christine...Someone must have talked to her and now she would pretend to Edouard that she didn't know him. Could that be it? He couldn't imagine Nicole doing that...but then again...who knew?

Christine simply shook her head. "No Monsieur, I am not Nicole" she said to him with a small voice and listened to him speak to her. "I am Christine Giselle Daaé" she told him. "Oui, I know of Monsieur Carriére, He is my music teacher..." she said softly and trailed off. She was kind of confused upon why this man was asking her all these questioned.
"Its nice to meet you Monsieur de Chagny" she said nodding her head a little and looking upon him still. "We did?" she said softly as he spoke to her. "Strange, I do not remember being in a dining room. I just remember walking around and just coming here. I also remember being underneath the Paris Opera" she explained. "No, I'm sorry Monsieur, I do not" she said frowning a moment later and looked down at the ground.
A sigh escaped her as she placed a hand to her head and she looked down. "Forgive me Monsieur de Chagny, I'm sorry I'm not the person you thought I was. That.....Nicole, person. But I am willing to stay here with you if you like and we can get to know one another and things" she said smiling a little. "I have yet to explore everything that's around this little place, and I'm sure I wouldn't mind to have a guide here" she told him placing her hand upon his. Then she pulled it away. Christine wanted friends yes and maybe something more than that but she will gladly wait.

Edouard was encouraged that Nicole, or Giselle, as she now called herself was amenable to staying to talk to him. He was even more encouraged that she put her hand on his. He was delighted. Perhaps there was something o f her memory left, deep down. He wondered if she had had a memory lapse, amnesia, a nervous breakdown...or it could be any of a million things. He decided to try to jog her memory.
"I am delighted to meet you, Mademoiselle Daaé. I must have been mistaken about who you are. I would like it very much if you would call me Edouard....unless you find that it is too early to exchange first names."
"Very good, I am glad you know Monsieur Carrière...he was Nicole's music teacher as well...and you remember the Paris Opera house....excellent."
Edouard watched her and her body language seemed very different from Nicole's. Still there was a lot that was the same. When did you arrive, if I may ask?" He went through many different thoughts, amnesia as he thought before, perhaps a dual personality, perhaps the ghosts had done something to Nicole...at that thought he became a bit angry, he didn't let it show.
"And I do not mind if you put your hand on mine, it is very lovely." He offered his hand to her. "Have you found your quarters yet in the dormitories?"

Her eyes darted around the room of the library. It was beautiful and she was in her own world for sometime then she looked back at Edouard. "Alright, I suppose I could do that for you Monsieur Edouard and with that. You can call me Giselle. To cause less confusion with the other Christine's." she said giving a small smile. "Oh, no. Its perfectly alright Monsieur, And considering I've only been here for days it'll be much easier to track you down, if I need to meet with you again" she said giving a light laugh.
Christine kept her eyes locked with his for sometime as he spoke to her about Monsieur Carriére. "Ah, Monsieur Carriére. I know him very well. He has helpt me reach my goal upon becoming a singer. He's a wonderful teacher and friend" she said smiling as she thought about him. Christine said nothing more after that. She was able to let the man in front of her speak.
She then removed her hand for sometime and she looked over at him as he questioned her again upon her arrival. "A few days ago actually. I just remember waking up in my room it would seem and I've been exploring this place ever since then" she said to him. "What about you? When did you arrive here?" she asked again. This man was very kind to her and she loved his company and she enjoyed talking to him as well.
Blinking suddenly she listened to his words. "Forgive me about that Monsieur, I... I was only trying to reassure you and all." she said nervously. "But thank you for the compliment." she said giving a light laugh again. "Yes, it would seem I had awoken in them" she told him lightly giving a nod to him. "What other things are here in this place other than the library?" she asked a moment later looking upon him as she tilted her head.

Giselle, as the girl before him now called herself, said she had only been in the mansion for a few days. She didn't remember anything in the mansion before that. He was sad, for his little sojourn to the village had been lovely. "There are many strange things about the mansion, Giselle, so I am not really surprised that you don't remember me from before, I hope we can rekindle our friendship."
Giselle spoke of Carrière in rather glowing terms, saying she knew him very well and he had been her teacher and friend and she smiled. The previous iteration of Giselle had been afraid of him. Edouard wondered what it was that had caused that fear in her. It was one of the reasons that the previous girl had come so close to Edouard. He sighed, almost inaudibly. He was sad. Probably they could never rekindle the very lovely friendship they had had together.
"How did I arrive here?" Edouard laughed. "It was actually quite traumatic. I was with my wife and son, Emilie and Gustave, and we had arrived in New York...in America...from Paris. Christine was to sing at Coney Island. We settled into a hotel and both went to bed in our separate rooms, Gustave with Emilie. When I awakened the next morning, I somehow couldn't find the door to their room. Puzzled, I went out side my own door, thinking I was confused. Then I became even more confused. A dusty ,dirty hall greeted me, and worse than that, when I returned to my room, the whole suite had become dilapidated in a matter or moments, as if 100 years had come crashing onto it. I was astonished and went back outside of the room and I have been here ever since. It was some time before I found Emilie and even longer before Gustave appeared. I was very glad to fiind them."
He smiled. "An odd story to say the least, but some of the others have equally strange stories, as you will discover. " He listened as she asked what other rooms there were in the mansion. "This is a strange place. Rooms seem to appear at will. Sometimes they seem to be in one time reality, and sometimes in another. How many rooms? I am sure no one knows. However, there are the dormitories, about which you undoubtedly know Interestingly, each Erik, of whom there are many, has his own large living area. I have only seen one of them, but I am assured every one of those....men...has their own separate place. I am not sure why they deserve bigger areas than the rest of us, but no matter. There is nothing to be done about it. There is a library, a dining room and kitchen, sitting rooms, rooms in the turrets, a strange technology room, a ball room, and even a large but dilapidated Opera House, of all things. One of the Eriks has grand plans to renovate it." Edouard gave a disdainful laugh. "I wonder how far he will come with that..."
"I have also heard tell that there is a dungeon, although I could not swear to it. I know there must be many rooms I have not even seen yet. Outside, there is a lovely garden, a gazebo, a graveyard and a stable. A woods surrounds the mansion. Through the woods there is a village...which is...more modern than anything of which I could have dreamt..."

As Edouard spoke to her she looked over at him and listened to his words. A small smile appeared upon her face as he spoke to her about a friendship hopefully. Christine didn't have many friends here within the manor. Not yet anyways. Aside from her teacher than that was it. "I would like that..." she said smiling upon Edouard. Christine looked away from him then back again.
Listening upon his words again she looked at him and smiled as he spoke about his family. "How old is Gustave?" she questioned looking upon him softly. Christine then nodded when she listened to him speak about his arrival here upon the Manor. "That sounds very interesting. I've never been to America, but I do hope to go there someday" she said lightly looking upon him still. Christine didn't know what else to say at this point and she went silent as he continued speaking. His tale of his arrival was interesting for her and she wanted to know about America. "Coney Island?" she said softly as she perked up. "What's that like?" she asked curiously trying to make conversation.
The young singer continued to listen to his words as he explained about the manor. As he explained she studied him a bit more. "I suppose there are doubles of everyone here huh... Strange place we've gotten ourselves to. I feel like I'm dreaming, but I don't think I am because everything feels real and things like that" she said sighing. Darting her gaze from his and eyeing the floor.
"I think I should explore this place more... It sounds really interesting to be honest" she said nodding her head and her voice was cheerful when she said this. "But, do you know when we can leave this place? To go back to our own times?" she asked. "I wouldn't mind exploring the gardens or any other rooms within the manor. As long as i have someone with me doing it" she said looking over at him. "Well, You don't have to come with me Monsieur, if you do not wish. Its alright. I'll probably find my way around whenever I can" she said smiling.

Edouard smiled at Guselle. Apart from her memory, she seemed almost the same. She must have amnesia. In answer to her comment, I would like that, he asked what she was referring to..."Did you mean to go to the gardens or the village?" Giselle seemed shyer than her former self. He had liked her former self and he thought he would like this version even better.
In answer to Giselle's question about his son, Edouard said, "Gustave is 10 years old. He haas dark hair and eyes, which is odd, as both of us have blue eyes. But he has inherited his mother's flair for music. He can play the piano effortlessly and I have heard him ocompose little songs spontaneously." Then she said she would enjoy going to America and asked a bout Coney Island. Edouard was quiet for a moment.
"Coney Island? It's part of New York...they've built amusements there." Edouard looked as if he would turn up his nose at the thought. "There was a place where Christine had contracted to sing. Mr Y's Phantasma, a ridiculous name if I ever heard one," he said with scorn. "In any case, Christine wanted to go back to her singing career and I relented at least for this one stint. We arrived in New York and I was to meet with Oscar Hammerstein the next day to work out some plans. Unformtunately, it was that very morning that I arrived here in the mansion. I did not find Christine until later and Gustave only recently." He paused. "America? I don't know about any more of it than Coney Island. But what I saw was crass and boorish."
"Doubles of everyone?" Edouard laughed. "More like triples and quadruples and so on and so forth. There are quite the group of Eriks, Christines and yes a few Raouls. Several Megs and Carlottas round out the group. Then there are many others. From all sorts of places. "
"I should he happy to give you the grand tour, at least the tour of places I know here at the mansion. What do you say?"

As Edouard spoke of his son she smiled softly. "He seems like an interesting person. I'd love to meet him sometime" she told him as she stared at him. Then she tilted her head a little. "A young boy who can play the piano effortlessly? He's got talent then. For a young age of ten years old. Not many ten year olds can do that" she said suddenly. "I would say, he's got a gift for music" she stated as she looked at Edouard.
Cony Island, sounded like an interesting place to be as he spoke about the place. "It all sounds amazing to me" she said looking at him still. "Mr. Y?" she questioned her eyes widened slightly and she tilted her head a little. "Strange, name. He sounds mysterious all in all to be honest" she said to him as she listened to his words. "Ah, I see.." she said nodding her head. "America sounds wonderful though in any case" she told him.
Christine couldn't help but giggle along with him as he spoke to her about the doubles and triplets and the quadruples of people within the Manor. "How strange. " she said softly. "Well, at least I know two people here who I can find easily" she told him. "You and Monsieur Carrier" she said softly. "I...I mean Erik" she said closing her eyes and she opened them again. "Its beginning to make me wonder if we were brought here for a purpose." she said looking off then looking at him. She tilted her head a little as she listened to him speak. "You mean , like time traveling?" she asked curiously. "Well, then. It seems I've got a lot of exploring to do" she said nodding her head a little.
Upon hearing him giving her a grand tour of the mansion she grinned a little. "That would be wonderful Edouard, Thank you" she said nodding her head. "I only know a few places already. My dorm room and this room in which we are now" she told him softly as she looked at him. "So, when do we begin?" she asked as she awaited for his reply about the tour.

"Yes, my son does have talent. Gets it all from his mother. She is quite the amazing one when it comes to music. Her father was a famous violinist, you know," said Edouard proudly. "Unfortunately, although I do sing, it's nothing like the talent of my wife and her side of the family." He laughed. "To have me sing on stage would be quite the trick I would think."
"Coney Island, yes. Well perhaps I had a bad introduction to it. That Mr Y fellow must be some type of crazy showman, for we were met by all sorts of strange people. They looked like freaks, if I do say so. And there was a crowd waiting for Christine. They applauded her, but accused me of all sorts of things. It was not a nice reception." Edouard looked a bit cross at the thought of it. "America? I've spent only one day in the country and I know it's a vast and diverse country. That was not, however, a good introduction."
Edouard brightened when Giselle said she would like tour. "So, you are amenable to seeing some of the different rooms. Excellent!" Edouard had heard Lenoir speaking about the strange time anomalies as he called it, and Edouard reluctantly had to agree with him. "Now remember that there time does some odd things here and some rooms are further into the future than others. But I think a good place to start would be the dining room and kitchen if you have not been there yet..."

As Edouard spoke about his son she smiled softly. It was always nice to hear people talk about their children and Christine couldn't get enough of it. There were times in which she had hoped that someday she'd have children of her own. "He sounds like a wonderful child" she said smiling. "I hope to meet him someday" she told him as she continued to listen to him speak. Christine really enjoyed small children and she couldn't wait to meet him someday. That is if he was here in the manor.
Coney Island seemed like an interesting place to be. Full of adventures and many other things. "It sounds marvelous from what it sounds like" she told him. Then she learned that he was there for one day and blinked a bit. "How odd. Though, I'd probably want to be there for more than one day" she said giving a lit giggle.
Standing she looked around then back at him as he spoke to him. "Well, Edouard, I have managed to view a few rooms. But never really entered them. Its strange this place. I wonder what our purpose here is to be. And I wonder when we can get out" she told him. "I'm fine with whatever room you take me to" she said grinning a bit. "I'm not picky upon where we begin" she told him as she waited for him to start the grand tour.

Edouard laughed. "I suppose I didn't give Coney Island a chance. But it was not of my own doing, really. As I said, I was taken here not of my own volition. Christine, Gustave and I were to have stayed for some time. Christine had contracted with Phantasma to do a certain number of shows. I was to have met with Mr Hammerstein to set up other arrangements for her to sing. But after being there...actually it was less than a day....I was taken here."
He smiled thinking about Gustave and Christine. "Yes, I am most grateful that my family is here now. Both of them. It would almost be perfect, to get away from the world, to be secluded in this mansion, which, I have found, is not a particularly bad place at all." Edouard looked at her directly. "There is one thing though. We really don't seem to be able to leave this place, once we are here. Who it is that is keeping us here, I couldn't say."
Then he smiled again. "The kitchen and dining room it is then. It is a place whose location you definitely need to know. Come then, it's down some corridors, as everything is here and down a staircase."
