So I just found out that an audition I'm doing that was supposed to be at the beginning of September got moved up.... to a week from today -.- Anyway, posts will be slow this week because on top of being in Vegas for a few days, I need to learn/perfect in a week a monologue and song I was expecting to have another month to work on. Sorry to everyone who I'm threading with that this effects. Please bear with me

So the audition went pretty well. Only thing I'm sort of nervous about is that (though I guess this is probably a good thing in a lot of ways) They asked me after I sang "Sorry Her Lot" from HMS Pinafore to sing "Home" from the show, which I've done a ton of times for auditions before, but was not actually a piece that I prepared since I wasn't expecting them to want me to sing anything from the show.
I did well (I know I could have done a lot better if I had actually prepared it, but it was still very good), but what made me nervous was that the person who went two before me (and the person between us was an older man auditioning for Gerard) sang the same piece as her actual audition piece (not what they asked for later. they asked her to sing something different not from the show), is the same voice type as me, is auditioning for the same role as me, and is an equity member (that's where the warning bells went off in my mind).
I guess the advantage I have against her and the couple of other people that really fit the role is that they were all really tall and/or looked a lot older, and a lot of the men were fairly short. In that sense, I'm very petite and look younger like the role suggests, so that's an advantage I have.
The director really seemed to like me (apparently they spoke to me more than they did a lot of the people who came in), so that's good. Apparently I went to high school with his daughter, though I only vaguely remember her name. The music director commented afterward that I had a beautiful voice, so all considered, I'll hope things take a turn in my favor.
Another advantage I have is that I actually live in town and they are extremely limited in what housing they can offer to out of town actors, which is another advantage I have over the equity chick 2 before me (though her mother-in-law does live here, but she lives across town and transportation is an issue).
They didn't have me do my prepared monologue, though they only asked like 2 people, both men, at all for a monologue, so that's not really something I'm worried about. They didn't have anyone at all dance and they're not planning on doing a dance callback.
I'll be happy with anything at all I can get, chorus, lead, even just observing, so hopefully I'll get in for something. This show count toward the Equity training program, so if I do get cast it will mean I'll be one step closer to getting my Equity Card. Keeping fingers crossed. Apparently they're fairly quick with audition results.
