[[ I luv Grandpappy and Pookey posts! I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOOO bad for making you wait for such a short post! ]] Gerard smiled when he heard his son say Thank you...father.. "I've always been proud, you're a musical genius, a composer....I don't know how I couldn't be proud." He told Erik, his smile widening. Gerard didn't really know what had gone on while he hadn't been here, but somehow he thought his sun looked happier, looked as though he was fairing better. He hoped that everything was working out between his son and Christine.

((MEE TOOO! xD And naw, they are so worth the wait! xD))
He listened as his father spoke, saying he is a musical genius and composer. His heart felt... lightened some how, by his words. Erik knew then when he was a child, he had always seemed to have wished to see Gerard be happy in the things he did. He had loved showing the things he could do and secretly wished for his approval and pride in some of the things he did.
And now, his father told him. Gerard had told him that he was proud. And it made him feel like those years as a child, hoping and wishing that Gerard was happy with some of the things he had tried to do and be successful in, were never a waste. Gerard had never told him right out before that he was proud, when Erik was younger, he always went half way with a pat of the shoulder or a smile and commenting like saying 'good work'. But he had never before told him that he was proud. Erik smiled. "Shall we continue on to the manor?"

Gerard wished he'd shown more interest in the things Erik had done when he was a child, but he couldn't keep living in regrets, Gerard knew that, so he just smiled at his son, who seemed to be a little more free looking...in a way. Gerard didn't really know how to describe it, but Erik seemed a bit lightened.
He nodded his head to Erik's words, "Of course, I'd like to see this manor you speak of." Gerard smiled back, it had been a while since he'd seen the masked boy, of course he was still a boy in Gerard's eyes, he always would be, smile. It made the older man's day to see his boy smile and he couldn't help but place his own true smile onto his face.

Erik nodded and continued on their way to the manor. He began to think deeply, maybe living here wont be so bad after all. Not that any of them really had a choice anyways. But it also will be nice because he had his loving Christine and his father here, who would not be trying to persuade him anytime soon to let Christine go. In fact, Christine came to him willfully many times here at the manor. And, Philippe was nowhere near here so Philippe would also not be getting in the way of Christine and himself.
Erik decided that they would be going to the kitchen first and there they could speak more and possible eat a late dinner... just as the sometimes had when he was younger. He remembered those late nights in his domain, when Erik was still so young and figuring out what future operas he would have the cast preform next month and which ballet dancers weren't doing their best and which violinists were out of tune, Gerard would come down with a small fixed dinner for the both of them to eat together. And when they get to the kitchen, perhaps it would be sort of a way for Erik to return the favor for all those dinners by making them a small dinner.
Then next, he would show Gerard to the elevator (he had read about elevators from one of the books in the library) and show where his domain was. Erik was sure that Gerard would also be quite surprised and fascinated that his lair was duplicated in almost complete and exact detail here as his domain under the opera house. Then, he would show his father to his room and let him get some rest. He understood that Gerard had been through a great deal this night. In fact, Erik would probably say that Gerard had a sort of rougher appearance here than he did. But at least Erik had run into him first and although he probably wasn't the best guide around the mansion, he at least knew the important locations. Or at least most of them. They had finally reached the manor and although Erik was enjoying being outside, he had made up his mind to take Gerard inside.
Erik led his father down the hall, turned a corner going down another hall, and this went on for a little bit till they finally got to the doors to the dining room. He stepped into the room, the automatic chandelier coming on, unlike the first time he had been in here with the older Raoul, he did not jump or even flinch. The room was a lovely Victorian themed dining room. In the middle was the wooden table with a well crafted table cloth over it and in the room, there was even a piano which he had been tempted to play once or twice. Though, usually whenever he felt like playing the piano, he either played the one in his domain in his room or the one in the ball room which he had played the first time in front of Monsieur Lenoir. "The dining room... I rather like this room, though more so the library here which I may show to you later or you may find yourself. Do sit down, is there anything you would like to eat or drink?" He asked his father pleasantly. Really, at the moment, he was feeling rather up beat.

(( i am so sorry this is soooo short....i have severe writers block! ))
Gerard followed his son. He didn't speak much until Erik showed him into the dining room. When he was asked to he sat down and smiled at Erik. Erik asked him if he wanted anything to eat or drink. For a moment Gerard thought and then replied,
"Just a glass of wine perhaps?"

((Its alright! I know the pain of writers block. For me, I can't even make a post when I have writers block so your still doing good! xD))
Erik nodded to his father's request to a glass of wine. He walked into the kitchen and looked around for some wine glasses. He quickly did and picked two, clear, wine glasses. He then looked for the drink, which he found quickly also. There was only a single bottle however, but of white wine. It would have to do, especially since he didn't know if there were any wine cellars here or if they had to go out and buy some from the village, either way it would take to long.
He poured the wine into both of the glasses and took both of the glasses and bottles back to Gerard and the table. Erik sat the bottle down then sat one glass in front of his father then sat down in his own chair next to Gerard and kept his own glass in his hand.

Gerard smiled at his son, "Thank you," he said and nodded to Erik with a smile on his face as he brought the glass to his lips and took a sip. He gave a slight chuckle and said, "Well at least this place has decent wine." He gave a slight shrug and took another sip.
He glanced at his son, "So what's been going on here?" He hoped that Erik had Christine.

Erik nodded and drank a bit himself. It was alright, not the best year of wine, but decent enough. When Gerard asked him what had been going on with him, Erik took another sip of the wine before setting it down for a bit. For a moment, he didn't look up at his father, almost as if things were going extremely terrible and that he wished that he wasn't here. But then he began to chuckle and a small smile flashed across his face.
"Actually, things haven't been going to bad here for me. Christine is here.." He paused for a moment. "And well, the Comte de Chagny who cares only for the beauty of faces is not here. In fact, only the three of us are here..." He took another sip. "The three of us as well as some other... interesting people. And quite a few of these people here actually care for the beauty of music over faces for once." Erik smiled a bit and took another sip. "I am also help in charge of the opera house here. The partner of the newest manager... it isn't exactly the Paris Opera House... but it will be good enough soon." He said smiling.

When Erik didn't reply at first and looked down at the table for a while, Gerard was instantly filled with a sense of worry. He bit his lip and set his wine glass down, the liquid sloshing against the sides. He opened his mouth to speak, hoping he could somehow comfort his son and then his son began to chuckle and a smile slid onto his masked face and Gerard took a deep breath allow a shaky chuckle to emerge from his mouth.
When he stated that Christine was there the older of the two Carrieres allowed his smile to broaden every so slightly. He was glad that the man whom every believed to be a ghost had Christine. He took a sip with slight relief in his eyes when Erik said that the Comte wasn't there. That was good, then he couldn't take Christine away...even though Gerard himself had tried to help the de Chagny get Christine away from his son, a bit of regret sweeping into his hazel eyes at the memory.
He was also quite glad to hear that Erik had met a few others who cared for the beauty of music and looked past the face. Well of course Gerard thought that his son looked perfectly fine and he also believed that his son was beautiful on the inside not just the outside. That was what most people didn't look close enough to see, the beauty underneath Erik's looks. Gerard wondered if that was why Erik had been given the deformity to teach others that there is beauty underneath.

Erik was silent for a moment, looking at his wine glass. He never thought he would ever have moments like this... with his father. In fact, the the moving picture room, where he saw the future of his life play out, he wouldn't have a moment like this with Gerard. The closest they probably got like this on there is when they were talking and when Erik was dieing, and speaking about where he was to be buried.
"Father..." He said a bit quietly. He swallowed and looked back at Gerard. "I hadn't gone through... all of the experiences there as I was suppose to. But... but I did see it. It was strange... it was this... moving picture thing, I had never seen it before. And well... I got to see all of the things I was suppose to have gone through." Erik said, then paused, not completely sure what to say more. "I suppose... I suppose I am sort of glad that I ended up here before certain events. As you know, if I didn't come here, I probably wouldn't be here at all...." He said in reference to his own death.
"There are some experiences however... that I did still have here that I would have at the opera house. Such as Christine... she-she still saw my face and well..." He chuckled slightly. "She didn't really have a different reaction from when she.. saw beneath my mask... on the moving pictures." Erik paused again, not sure if Gerard knew what exactly Christine's reaction had been. "She had fainted.." He said a bit quietly. "There is one part I saw... that was probably the only thing I really would have liked to gone through. Which was rather close to the end..." Erik stopped, glancing down then back at Gerard. "When... when Christine and I had sang together... during Faust." Erik said smiling, looking down slightly in remembrance of the moving picture.

Gerard watched his son with worried hazel eyes as he took a small sip from the wine glass. When Erik spoke of a moving picture, Gerard tilted his head slightly. He had never heard of what Erik was describing and was slightly intrigued.
When his son spoke of his own death, Gerard frowned as the scene flashed before his eyes. He forced it away. He nodded, "Well I'm glad you're here and not..." he couldn't say it, the thought was a bullet to the heart. It was only worse knowing that he hadn't been the best of fathers. He wished he would have been better and if he could do it over again he would do all that he could to be the best father on the planet.
Gerard gently placed his hand on his son's. He gave a soft reassuring smile, tinted with sadness. "I wish things would have gone better..." He said quietly. He nodded slightly when Erik spoke of their duet during Faust, it was what had sealed his fate but it had been beautiful...
(..omg...I"M SO SORRY!!!! It's such a sucky post! I'm sorry!)

((Naw, I loved it! lol))
Erik looked at his father with a hint of sadness when he wished that things would have gone better. He nodded, looking away. "I wonder what would have happened if they didn't try to shoot me after the song ended." He said quietly, glancing back at Gerard. He sighed slightly. "It was a better way to go though... in the arms of my loved ones and to have such a perfect moment with Christine..." He faded off.
He didn't like thinking of dieing any other way. As much as he disliked seeing himself die and everything... it was how he would have like to ended if he was to end early. However... now he could have an even better ending here. He had just Christine and his father here... he was able to help Lenoir with the opera house, he got to socialize with different people who were not quite so afraid of him. He got to be out in the open and breath in fresh air whenever he liked... he had so much freedom to enjoy here.
Erik took another few sips of his drink, close to being finished with it then looked at Gerard with a gleam of pleasantness in his eyes. "Father... perhaps after finishing our drinks, I could show you to the dorms and I let you have some rest. You deserve it after such a busy night." He said, slightly smiling. He thought it very true, that his father deserved to have some sleep. Then later he could show him around, maybe introduce him and Lenoir and to perhaps a few others. And of course, surely Gerard would meet a few interesting people on his own. But that can be saved for another night, Erik felt that even he could sleep a little better, knowing that his father was near again.

(if you ever want to do Elizabeth again, (hehe!!) if you want you can email me here -- alinowac@gmail.com HEHE)
Gerard winced slightly, putting his hand on his son's shoulder. "Erik...you're here now and that's all that matters. Let's not dwell further on thoughts such as those." He offered a faint smile, trying to cheer his son up. After all those years of just being a silent guardian, he was finally stepping out and accepting his role as Erik's father. He wasn't starting out too well, he admitted considering one of his first acts was pushing down the trigger that killed his boy.
He took a sip of his drink, a little distracted, his eyes hazed slightly. He cleared his head with a shake and smiled thinly, trying to lighten the mood and trying to drive his thoughts from the troubling fact of his son's death and sudden rebirth. Well...rebirth as it seemed to Gerard.
The older of the two Carriere's smiled, finishing off his drink. "Please, if you don't mind, I would rather like to retire." Truth to be told, it had been quite a day. Quite a day.

Erik nodded. Oh how good it was to be able to talk with Gerard again... his father. "Come with me." He said pleasantly and then led the way to the dorms. Once they arrived, he watched name after name after name go by, all some how familiar for being mostly Raouls, Christines, and Carlottas. After searching for a brief time, he finally came upon a door that had a more rare name in the area. Gerard Carriere.
"Well, here we are." He said, staring at the door a little bit. "... What a day this has been. Well, this whole... time I had been here has been quite interesting! To say the least that is." Erik said, then paused and looked at his father. "This place might not be the most peaceful of places but... I am glad you could come. Strange as it may seem. I felt guilty for having left you behind - not that I had a choice or any say in it- and even though time seemed to... continue on with you.... I am glad I have all I care about here now." He said then quickly bowed his head. "Good night." And with that, he disappeared into the shadows of the endless hallways.
THE END
