THREAD CLEAN-UP FOR JCINK MOVE
Hello again everyone! I hope you guys have been hard at work working on your apps! I must warn you that there will be A LOT of them for admins to look over, so when it comes time to move them over it may take a little while go to through all of them. Mostly we'll be looking for what you've changed and added.
But anyway, this announcement is not about moving apps, but threads! I know you've ALL been worried about this, but trust me, we're trying to make this AS SMOOTH as possible.
The first thing you'll have to do for the move is decide which threads you want to continue writing, and which threads you think can afforded to be left behind. You probably won't be able to take all of them, unless your character is new or you are new yourself. You'll have to discuss whatever threads you want to keep with all the players you're threading with, to make sure it's cool with them, but I know everyone will want to finish up their threads as soon as possible. xD
When you've decided which threads you want to keep threading, you'll have to finish up as many of the ones you're leaving behind as soon as possible. This site will be open probably until August so that you can move all your things, but it would be best if everything got done sooner rather than later. If you feel that the thread is not going anywhere, or will take too long to finish but is an EXTREMELY old thread that has no business being on the new board, you and the other player must agree to end the thread, and then write a short paragraph summary of what would have happened had the thread continued. Whatever other threads you have left would need to be finished as soon as possible.
Once you've decided all of that and finished threading those few, compile your longer threads into one post by hitting the "print" button at the top of a thread, and whoever was the last to post in the thread will post that whole thread on the new Jcink site in character (there are no character limits, btw). Then, whoever was next to reply will do so. Otherwise, it would probably be best if you posted back and forth all the post you had in that thread over again, if it's a shorter thread.
All threads that are carried over from the PB site will be placed in a special archives folder when they are done, to keep things seperate. I know this may be hard, letting some threads go, but some threads are just so old that this might be for the best. Any group threads that are waiting on absent people to post MIGHT have to be left behind, though extensive summaries can be made and posted on the Jcink forum.
On the new forum we'll have a new feature, called the "thread timeline" board, which some members have already done on this board as well. It's basically a new sort of history catalog that requires you to post one paragraph as soon as you finish a thread (but not before) that summarizes the thread. Both you and the other player will post their own paragraphs detailing the characters own opinion on the thread. It's basically to keep track of histories in an easier way than going back and rereading threads. But this board will not include Proboards histories, as those are covered in your apps.
This might all seem confusing, but if you have any questions, feel free to ask me! Good luck organizing your threads, and if you need any help I'll be here!
