Appearance
Body type: Maria appears to be slightly curvy with a bounce in her step. She tends to either float or teleport to where she wants to go
Eye color: Her eyes are a faded blue
Hair: A slightly wavy dark brown
Wardrobe: Usually Sarah appears in a blue and white dress that's slightly ragged, or with jeans and a t-shirt when she's pretending she's alive
General Appearance: Maria always looks like she's holding a secret. She's usually smiling or just a step away from laughing giving her a rather playful countenance. Her skin is pale, one of the few features that truly tend to give away that she's dead. Her body is slim, combined with her slight curves making her look young. She can change her appearance to look how she did when she died. The white and blue dress she wears isn't just slightly worn, but looks shredded. Her eyes have dark black shadows around them with an ugly gash running across her back and her arms covered in cuts. Her hair is matted, making her look quite terrifying especially when she's in the middle of throwing a fit.

Personality
For all intents and purposes Maria is a poltergeist. Thankfully while she is quite angry she has kept her playful spirit intact. She loves playing on ironies, one of her favorites being to scare the villagers away with the typical haunted house actions, complete with disembodied giggling and the sound of footsteps around the house. She has proven to have a soft spot for the Phantom of the Opera characters, which unfortunately makes them a victim of her pranks even more often though they never pass into anything remotely harmful unlike with others.
Dreams and Goals: To get revenge on the man that killed her, and stop it from happening to anyone else
Strengths: As a poltergeist she can move objects around in the house when invisible, and is quite strong at doing so. She can force a door to remain closed though she has more trouble using her abilities on the living. She rarely gets exhausted. Maria can change her appearance so she looks like a living person, and can touch others when in that form though she cannot interact with anything else.
Weaknesses: She can't leave the mansion. She is prone to childish tantrums when she doesn't get her way. She cannot pass over salt or touch iron.
Fears: Dying. When she dreams, if it can really be called dreaming drifting into that state where she isn't quite part of the manor, it's of her death and the pain she was in. Often she wakes up thinking she's still alive and fighting for her life. She's afraid of being exorcised, as she has watched the Exorcist with the last owner of the mansion.

The Past
Sarah Chevau - her mother. She loved Maria and would braid her hair. She was very caring. Maria loved baking in the kitchen with her mother when she was alive.
Devin Chevau - her father. He was a gruff fellow who was rather distant in her life usually off doing business. Mostly she remembers seeing him sitting at his desk working.
Adèle Chevau - her older sister. Her sister was married with a four year difference between them. Often Adèle took it upon herself to watch out for her baby sister. She introduced Maria to romance setting the girl to watch for her prince charming.
Aimee Merceaux - Maria's best friend. They did everything together, Maria often pulling her friend into trouble.
Jacques Leverix - The man who killed Maria. He was beating Maria when she was knocked back onto a sharp edge the wood cutting into her back and killing her
History:
Maria was born to a typical family in 1789. She was quite rambunctious for a girl at that time. She loved playing with her dollhouse growing up, along with hide and seek and tag. Often she tried her mother's patience when she would go out to play where some mishap would happen to her resulting in her clothes getting dirty. As she grew older such incidents grew less often. It was traded in for gossip and walks through the park instead.
Going to a co-ed school unfortunately gave Maria ideas. The boys in her class were constantly pulling pranks. Unlike some of the other girls who were disgusted or annoyed by the behavior she found the actions humorous. It didn't take long for Maria to be pulling pranks as well her friend reluctantly dragged along.
She did get into trouble a few times, resulting in such a scolding that her ears would be left burning and the pranks would stop for a time, but most often as a girl she was rarely considered a culprit the boys often taking the fall for her. After all, even a wild young lady like Maria couldn't possibly be responsible for the frog in the teacher's drink.
Her older sister Adèle looked after her. She talked to Maria about her beaus and about true love. It hooked Maria on the idea of romance, and when her debutante ball came she dressed up to be the most beautiful girl there. She was stunning, with plenty of men asking her to dance with them.
It was a couple weeks later that Jacques came into her life. He was a rather persistent suitor. Maria didn't care for him, a mixture of fright and boredom experienced in his presence. He was a coarse man, and he didn't strike her as particularly bright. Jacques wasn't going to wait for her to agree though. He would marry her and take the money from her dowry. They had been out walking the estate when he tried to hold her. She fought back not wanting to be close. It made him angry, Jacques striking against her. He hit Maria several times, eventually pushing her back where she ended up injuring herself. Jacques ran off as she slowly bled out.
She didn't move on when she died. Maria became a poltergeist, haunting her family and striking out at those that bothered her or she saw as being similar to her murderer. Eventually the house collapsed, but the dollhouse she'd played with as a child was sold to the manor as an antique piece bringing her with it. She's been haunting the manor and causing trouble ever since.

The door slammed as a cold gust of wind hit it. How dare this human enter her sanctuary? Maria watched with anger as the human desperately fiddled at the door. She wouldn't have minded normally, but being trapped enacting her own death over and over again on the anniversary of her death had left her in a sour mood taking it out on anyone who got close enough.
Slowly she materialized the white and blue dress settling around her form slowly. Tilting her head she walked over to the human. "What are you doing here?" The human paled at the sight of the ghost. She wasn't even at her most frightening. "You're not welcome." One of the balls from the back of the room flew forwards, bouncing off the wall. Impatiently she waited for the answer blue eyes glowering.
