((Note to self: this thread occurs just after Fishy’s new victim thread))
The screams, the gurgling, the struggle… it was all still fresh in her memory, and brought a sort of sickening smile to the creature’s lips. A pool of scarlet had forms around the fractured skull of the corpse that lay on the shores of her strange lake. It had been too long since she’d been able to feast upon a mortal soul such as that, and she felt newly empowered, the vitality of life streaming though her cold veins despite the fact that it had come through the mortal pallor of death.
She slithered like a serpent up the little fall and into the higher, warmer pool where she liked to take her rests. Oh, it felt good to finally have purpose again. She’d served well, she felt. The Master would surely be pleased knowing that she’d not yet lost her usefulness in protecting and guarding the lake. Five more years from that point… For five more years now could she remain in the flesh and not have to fear for turning to nothing but a bit of sea foam.
She coiled herself in the bottom of the warmer pool, satisfied with her work, and closed her pale blue eyes, relaxing. Today was turning out to be a good day. The sun was just setting and the last few rays of light shown in through the glass ceiling of the room, into and reflecting off of the waters of the pool below. All was silent, all was still… And the creature rested.
