April is here, and new months mean new prompts. Prompts are a good way to build muse for your character, develop their backstory, and even earn a few euro in the process… Plus, they can be a lot of fun to do if you like to write! After responding to the prompt, please post the note in the IOU list so that you may receive credit and be rewarded your due amount of euro. The amount for responding to a monthly prompt is 15 euro. Please remember that you can respond with more than one character if you like and earn euro on each of them. Prompts are here for your own benefit, so please take advantage of them. Without any further ado, here are the prompt options for this month.
OPTION ONE – AND EVERY DROP OF RAIN THAT FALLS WILL BE CHRISTINE…
The weather can often have an effect on a person’s mood, whether it’s subtle differences of dramatic. In fact, studies have shown that in countries where there is less sunlight (due to their position close to the poles) there are actually higher depression and suicide rates than in countries closer to the equator where more sunlight is received (Fun fact: Sweden has the highest suicide rate in the world; many scientists believe it is for this reason). Some people might feel happy if it’s sunny, or sleepy if it’s rainy… Now consider your character. Does the weather have any sort of influence over his or her mood? Write about a day at the manor when your character’s general attitude was effected by the weather. Your response must be at least 3 paragraphs in length and contain proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
OPTION TWO – PARIS IS THE RAIN. PARIS IS THE PAIN OF A LOVER’S GOODBYE
Does a certain type of weather make your character think of someone they know? Perhaps thunderstorms make them think of someone with a bad temper, or sunshine about someone who smiles a lot, or wind about someone who speaks non-stop?... Write about a person your character thinks of when they think of a specific sort of weather. The weather can be of your own choosing, but please make the two relate. Your response must be at least four paragraphs in length and contain proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
OPTION THREE – RAINDROPS ON ROSES AND WHISKERS ON KITTENS
Silver-white winters that melt into springs: these are a few of my favorite things! When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I’m feeling sad, I simply remember my favorite things, and then I don’t feel so bad! What are a few of your character’s favorite things about the weather? Write explaining what your character’s favorite type of whether is and why, and what it is they like to do in this weather. Your response must be at least 3 paragraphs in length and contain proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
OPTION FOUR – THE RAIN IN SPAIN FALLS MAINLY ON THE PLAIN
Weather, even the same type of weather, varies from place to place. For instance, a sunny day in Antarctica is much different than a sunny day in the Sahara, and a show storm in Michigan would be received much differently than a snowstorm in Florida. Where is it that your character considers their “home”? What about the weather in your character’s “home” makes it unique? You do not have to be 100% meteorically correct, so long as it’s a general grasp. This prompt is more about your character’s feelings toward the weather of their home than what the weather is according to scientists. So long as it is reasonable (I.E. No heat waves of 110 in Iceland and no -50 in Hawaii) you’re fine. Your response must address at least the basic types of weather (rain, wind, sun, and snow), be at least 5 paragraphs in length, and contain proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
