It had been a half hour since the outburst between Teressa and Lenoir. The young woman accusing Lenoir of being unfaithful after she saw him kiss another woman. The whole moment played out constantly in his head. Destler could not help but to smile to himself about this whole thing. Lenoir truly had dug himself a grave in this circumstance.
Descending below the Manor, taking the tunnels to the stairwell and made his way towards the subterranean lake. At the lake's shoreline, the darkness enveloped everything. Luckily, there was a boat he could use to cross. Praying silently that her Guardian was not there to keep him away. Slowly he made his way across the lake and eventually came to the other shore where the house stood. There it was, a little palazzo, the lights glowing from it making the home more like a lighthouse by the sea.
Stepping out of the boat and moored it to a post, he picked his way up to the entrance. Standing there a moment as he glanced in through the windows in an attempt to catch a glimpse of her. Finally, he took made his presence known by knocking upon the door.

Teressa had been sitting in the warmth of the fireplace for about fifteen minutes. She had a cup of tea clutched in her hands and her favourite robe on over her nightgown. Her eyes were a little blotchy from all the crying she'd been doing since she'd gotten back to the house. She didn't expect to be leaving the house any time soon. It seemed she didn't have to, because she heard a knock at the front door. Was it Erik? But...but he always carried a key. Who could that be? Who could get through all of those traps that were set up in the labyrinth, unless they'd had prior knowledge....She furrowed her brow. Only one person had been down here with her before...
Pushing to her feet, Teressa still gripped her cup of tea while she walked cautiously to the front door. She unlocked it and opened it a crack. It was Destler...
"...What is your business here?"

Standing just outside the entrance to the little house by the lake with a desperation to keep calm. Being rather unsettled in any way would not help the highly distraught Teressa. He conjured all his will to be prepared for whatever she needed as well as his opportunity to whisk her back and off her feet. Lenoir had his chance. Now... it was his turn!
Hearing footsteps followed by the door opening to reveal the distraught Goddess. His visage sank in hopes to be more sympathetic to her needs. He did his best to look truly sincere and saddened by her misfortune. With puppy dog eyes and a frown he talked to her in a soothing sorrow. "May I come in? If only to console and comfort in your time of need?"

Teressa sniffed. Destler wanted to comfort her...he cared....he cared about her well being. She smiled a little. "Of course..." She stepped back and opened the door wider, pulling her robe around her. She took another sip of tea and sighed. She didn't feel good at all.
Lenoir....what was he doing right now? Where was he? But, no...no, she couldn't think about him right now. She had a guest, and she was trying to get over him...After what she'd seen...She turned to Destler.
"Can I get you anything? Are you thirsty? I have tea..." She pushed her mask a little more firmly onto her face then looked up at Destler, shutting the door to the house and locking it again.

Standing there at the darkened entry gazing back upon her with a countenance of sympathy, hoping to comfort her in this delicate time as well as an effort to place him at the forefront of her mind and desires. After a moment of patiently waiting, he then strides in slowly with a hint of meek sorrow. Once inside, he glances around then slowly turns to look at her with sad eyes in hopes to draw upon her sorrows and vulnerability. "I truly am sorry for what had happened, dear Teressa." Doing his very best to be utterly sincere. He was. He hated to see such a beauty suffer like this. Perhaps it will teach the both of them not to be so hasty. He should have known Lenoir would do something so incredibly... stupid.
Raising a hand just slightly as though to halt her from any activity or thoughts and a singular shake of his head. "No. No. Please, do not trouble yourself, my dear." After a moment, he then stepped in closer to her reached out and took up her hand so tenderly. "It should be I who serves you in this hour of need." His voice remaining as soothing and warming as his voice would ever allow. He wanted to wipe any thought of Lenoir from her mind. To make that half-masked half-wit second best and himself at the very top without rivals. This Goddess deserved someone of equal standing, did she not?

Teressa looked up at Destler. "Thank you." She tried to genuinely smile, but it came out a little half-heartedly. "I wouldn't have thought that you'd be so kind if Monsieur Lenoir was involved. I know you both are...well...rivals, in a way."
She let him take her hand, and truthfully, she did not really mind. It kind of made her nerves spark. Turning, she led him back to the sitting room, then let go of his hand to sit in front of the fireplace again. It was warm, and she loved the warmth.
She wondered what he would do...if he was going to perhaps try to kiss her without her permission again...She remembered how he stole her first kiss from her, here in this house. In her room...WELL she wasn't about to invite him back to her room anytime soon. She wasn't in the mood to deal with men. But at least Destler was trying to be nice and comforting. Which was more than she could say for anyone else.

He smiled at her for a moment that is until she spoke of Lenoir. Slowly closing his eyes a moment before opening them back up to look at her. His eyes filled with so much emotion as he watched her expressions. "You are all that matters, my dear Goddess."
Following her into the Sitting Room. He stood a moment before obtaining a ottoman to sit beside her. A hand carefully rose to her alabaster face caressing her cheeks ever so gingerly as he did his best to look so very sincere and heartbroken at her plight. "I would never have done such a thing. I once loved and she would not have me." Would he deny Christine if she appeared? Would Christine continue to deny him? Either way, it was too difficult to even contemplate the 'what if'. "If I had a Goddess such as you, I would never have looked at another woman again." Oh, yes! Good one, he told himself! All in an effort to push Lenoir from her thoughts and place himself at the forefront. Soon enough she'll be saying, 'Lenoir who?'

Teressa blushed bright red beneath the mask. That was the sweetest thing...Her fingers tingled and her stomach felt light. Was she nervous? Why would she be nervous? What was there to be nervous about? Taking a shaky breath, her lips parted. She bit her bottom lip before turning her head with a small smile.
"You're too kind, Monsieur Destler." She looked into the fire. "It's very sweet of you to say such things." She remembered when she was younger, and she'd get little written messages like that. They used to brighten her day. She loved it when lovely little things like that were said to her and about her. She clasped her tea in her hand and then looked down at the cup. Just a bit more left. She drank the remainder of the tea, then held the empty teacup in her hands. It was warm, and nice, and she just felt so comfortable in the atmosphere. She inwardly thanked God for Destler's presence. No doubt, otherwise, she'd be bawling more.

Gazing upon her masked alabaster face, into those ruby eyes and felt that very adoration that captured his interest in the first place return to the very pit of his soul. He was mesmerized by her. Truly she was a Goddess, so extraordinary that no mere mortal should ever touch her. He touched her. But he was no mere mortal either. Not since the day the Devil cursed him. He was no longer a mere man, but the embodiment of music.
"If the truth is kindness, then I shall forever say it, my alabaster beauty." The back of his fingers caressing ever so lightly over the skin of her cheeks and down to her jawline then brushed back her golden hair. Oh, how he ached. Ached to hold her. Ached to have her. No one made him feel as whole as she did. Not even Christine. Music always needed a harmony to the melody and she was his harmony.
His other hand moved to hers and removed the cup to set it aside then took that hand. Gazing up at her, into her sparkling garnet eyes, "I would give you everything and deny you nothing, dear Teressa." He dared not to mention Lenoir for he knew it would only force her to linger upon him more. That man did not deserve her at all. Again, he had his chance. Now it was Destler's turn! He would have Teressa, even if it was the last thing he did!

At his touch, Teressa felt numbness in her hands and head. She smiled, but backed off a little. "You are much too kind." She wanted to move back. Her head and her body were at war, now. What did she actually want? She didn't know...And it frightened her a little bit. Frightened her and excited her all at the same time.
Destler was being so nice to her...she had to show her appreciation somehow...Tentatively, she reached over to him and lightly brushed his fingers against the back of his hand. "Thank you, for being so concerned and kind to me. It means a lot to me, and I cannot express my gratitude that you are my friend."

A friend. Was that all she saw him as? He wanted it to be so much more than that. A part of him took a nose dive at the word 'friend'. Glancing down a moment as he tried so hard to keep his composure in check before raising his eyes to lock upon her ruby hues framed in gold. He truly believed she was a Goddess. No mere mortal would ever look like some Roman or Greek marble statue of a deity come to life!
"I had hoped to be more than a mere friend," wondering if he overstepped his bounds at that moment, perhaps it was too early but he no longer cared. "But I shall be all that you want me to be and what you need me to be in your unwarranted misery, my alabaster beauty." Perhaps the praise he once showered her with would open her up more to him. Wanting so desperately to wipe Lenoir from her mind and memory. He'll do anything to accomplish that silent goal.

"And for that I thank you." Teressa looked down at their hands. She felt warm. Warmer than she'd felt in a while. Looking back up at Destler, she realized....they were rather close. She blushed. It was too soon, wasn't it? And Lenoir....what would he think? Surely, he'd be furious....But then again...If Lenoir could kiss other women, couldn't she be close to other men? Besides, after what had happened, she assumed he wouldn't want her back...he'd called her a snip, said she was nosy and paranoid. That was inexcusable, he needed to apologize profusely before she even considered getting back to being with him.
"I...I don't suppose..." Teressa lost the words. She couldn't focus. "I'm sorry...I lost my train of thought." She blinked. What was going on? How could she be so distracted? There was nothing to distract her here. It was just her and...her and Destler....Oh dear. OH dear...

The touch of her warm hands sent sensations through him. That warming desire rose. A little need to possess this rare beauty. Was she opening up to him? Would she forget Lenoir? He'll do everything in his power to ensure that would happen.
Gazing at her a moment, studying her face. He could see those rare jewel eyes but what framed them still baffled him why she believed herself distorted and ugly that she would wear a mask. "Come," as he stood slowly and carefully, still holding her hand to draw it up a little. Once again caressing the sides of her face as he gazed forlorn upon her. "Perhaps you need some fresh air to... still your thoughts."

"Fresh air?" Teressa blinked. "Yes. Yes, that might do me some good." She nodded vigorously. This was turning into a situation where she didn't know fully what to do. That was a bit frightening and exciting all at the same time, to be true, but she didn't know if she was being too fast...
She stepped back, brushing her hair behind her shoulders. "Where shall we go? The gardens? I should probably change..." Fresh air meant going outside. She couldn't very well go outside in her nightgown and robe, now could she? Of course not. Especially not if Lenoir was still above...But what of it? She could do as she pleased. She'd change, nonetheless. With Destler, it might be best to relieve any chance of temptation for him...

Ahhh, she agreed! A moment - granted a rather twisted sort of way - alone with Teressa out in the gardens or where ever they planned to go outside the Manor walls. Hoping it was at least a stellar night as it was a glorious day.
Offering his arm to Teressa with a charming smile. Keeping her in mind the majority of the time to ensure Lenoir was the farthest thing from her mind. "Where ever you wish to go, my dear," smiling at her with that soothing growl. "If you wish to go to the gardens, then we shall go to the gardens. If you wish to go elsewhere, then so be it. We shall go elsewhere." He watched her a moment depart from the room and waited for her. Contemplating how to proceed once they stepped outside. Should he take it slow? Or should he quickly claim the prize? Hmmm... what to do. What to do.
