It was early March when Christine went once more to the bulletin board where she’d previously seen the sign up list for the Secret Santa gifting posted back in December. She hadn’t seen the thing get much use, and so she was not quite sure what she should expect when she posted the little letter she had written up the evening before. Her hands trembled as she pinned it up and looked at the paper fluttering a little in the breeze.
A small, yet warm smile crept upon her lips as she looked it over silently. It had been done and said. She and Raoul were finally beginning to be able to move on in their lives, even if it had not been as they’d initially intended to. One thing was certain, and that was that, even from this point onward, things were going to change. While the thought of change frightened her, she dearly hoped that it was for the better…
The letter read as follows, and was posted first in French with a translation into slightly broken English following:
My dear friends and neighbors,
I would like to thank you for being so kind to and supportive of my husband and I during our time here with you. You have attended our wedding, sent us well wishes, and helped us both when we were in times of need, and for all of this, we could not be more grateful.
It is with all of these fond memories that all of you have created with both of us, that I am pleased to announce that Monsieur Raoul de Chagny and I are expecting our firstborn child sometime in the fall. We are both quite excited for the new addition to our family, and hope that he or she may come to know the wonderful residents here within the Manor as we have come to know them.
Thank you and God bless,
Madame la Comtesse Christine de Chagny
