My dear Raoul,
I ventured outside of the manor again today. Our recent trip to the village has made me see that it is not healthy for me to stay cooped up inside of here so much. I went to the stables we passed along our way there, with a bag of sugar in hand, hoping to befriend one of the equine residents, were there any there. I told you about how I used to bring César sugar and sweets back at the Opéra. I was hoping to find a horse here who might accept it in the same way that César did.
When I arrived at the stables, there was another woman there, but she spoke English. Luckily for me though, she also spoke Italian. She introduced herself as Maria Gianelli, an asked me if I used to have a horse. I told her all about César and the opera and...(tbc)

My dear Raoul,
I must say that of all of the people I have encountered within the manor, I had not had the displeasure of meeting the most rude of them all until this afternoon. I was in the opera house, and I thought that I would sing a bit to myself. So there I was, singing Les Filles de Cadix when suddenly I heard a voice an looked out into the house to see a young man standing by the entrance. I wasn't sure why he had spoken, or why he was there, and so I only felt it proper to introduce myself. Afterward, he say "Aimeric". Nothing else, just his name. I was a bit confused by the gesture, and so I continued on with my sing and then the man continued on, speaking with the most atrocious of grammar, and calling me "stupid" and "ignorant"! (tbc)

My dear Raoul,
Today, I had an encounter which started off as rather unpleasant. I had ventured out into the village on my own, when I stumbled upon someone whom I most certainly was not expecting to see at all here in this place -- La Carlotta. (tbc)

October 1st, 1887 ?
My dear Raoul,
Today was the day where was held the bridal shower. I was quite pleased and flattered to see that nearly all of the guests who were invited found themselves able to attend the party. It was a nice gathering, and I was able to use a bit of the English I have been practicing. I know that, if we are to live here, I shall have to learn it eventually. Monsieur Raoul Christophe has been gracious enough to offer to teach me in the past, though I must say, I'm a bit shocked with what I've managed to learn on my own.
Among the guests who came were Madame Christine Emilie, Mademoiselle Meg Giry, Roselin (the little girl from the village I told you about who I asked to be our flower girl), Mademoiselle Gianelli, La Carlotta, and that Christine Svenna girl whom you had invited to the wedding. Mamma was there too, of course.
I know that Svenna woman is a friend of yours, but I cannot help but to find her a bit... odd. I thought that you were merely exaggerating when you told me about how she called you Vincent for no apparent reason at all, though now I see you were quite serious. She started calling me “Angela” and “Angie” and I must say that it confused me quite a bit. I've also noticed she bears a striking resemblance to Christine Emilie and cannot help but to wonder if the two of them are somehow related.

le 27ème octobre, 1887 ?
Mon cher Raoul,
Ta petite mariée,
~Christine
October 27th, 1887 ?
My dear Raoul,
I cannot begin to apologize to you enough for my tardiness to our own wedding. I know that, by my writing this, I am only making myself more tardy, but I cannot help it! I am afraid, Raoul! I learnt something today that, while I should have known it quite sooner, I cannot help but to keep wishing that I had not learned it at all... I'm not even sure where to begin, really. I'm so confused in my emotions right now... I don't know whether I feel happy, or upset, or cross, or pity...
It all began normally, really. I was preparing for the ceremony. I had dressed, Mademoiselle Giry had done up my hair and makeup for the ceremony... and then I heard a knock on the door. I opened it to find Monsieur Lavalais standing there with a gift in his hand – a single red rose.... I know that you and he have not had the smoothest of encounters between the two of you in the past, but he really has been a dear friend to me... Or at least he was... Oh, I don't know what I am talking about!
Anyway, he gave me the rose as a wedding gift and I put it into my bouquet, but when I went to smell it, everything suddenly went black... I don't know if I was under the effects of chloroform, or some other sort of drug, but the rest was foggy for some time... the next thing that I knew, I was lying on the bed in the Louis-Philippe room in the house on the lake... only it wasn't the house on the lake... Or, perhaps I was just dreaming this whole ordeal, but it seemed so real. It felt so real...
When I got up and looked around, I expected to find Érik there (and at first, I thought it was), but then realized that it was really Monsieur Lavalais... I'm not making any sense, am I? No, there's no reason to be polite about it. I'm not even making any sense to myself. I'm just so confused right now,I don't know what else to do than perhaps to write it down and hope my thoughts will somehow make more sense on paper.
When monsieur Lavalais saw me, he began apologizing profusely, and then told me he loved me, and that was where my confusion really took a turn for the worse... Oh Raoul, I don't understand! I don't understand how I could not have seen it before, or how it possibly could have happened... He built something for me in the greenhouse, you know? It was a whole room full of nothing but honeysuckles! Oh, what do honeysuckles matter? Raoul, I am frightened! What if something like this happens again? With Monsieur Lavalais, or with Érik, or with both, or someone else... I'm not even sure what to think any more...n Oh Lord, please help me. I'm so terribly confused...
Your little bride,
~Christine
Christine glanced over the letter she had just written, a clearly distraught expression upon her face. She didn't know if she could give that to Raoul... Not on their wedding day... She did not want to risk ruining his happiness. She ran her fingers through her golden hair, giving an exasperated sigh. She closed her eyes, rubbing her temples for a moment, before reopening them and then looking down at the letter. After a few brief seconds, she picked the thing up and then tossed it into the fire to burn amongst the flames. Perhaps burning away the paper could somehow burn away the cacophony of conflicting emotions as well...

October 27th, 1887 ?
My dear Raoul,
It is difficult to believe that, in writing this letter, I am writing the very first letter to my husband. For the longest time, I feared that this moment would never come, but now we are free! We are finally free to share our love without having to worry about anything coming between us. I am yours, and yours alone, to love love and to keep for as long as we two shall live, and even after then shall I remain yours in heaven.
Being engaged to you was the prettiest game I have ever had the honor of playing, and I only hope that it will never be topped by anything other than being married to you. I could never hope for anything more than you to feel the same way. To know that we shall be able to share our happiness in relative peace is the greatest gift I could ever have dreamed of asking for, and I cannot begin to express to you how happy I am that we were able to receive it when I'd feared for so long it was something never obtainable.
And while my heart has always belonged to you, tonight, I make a present to you of my entire being. Please be gentle with me. Love me always, and promise me that you shall never stop. Show me what it is like to know you, and for you to know me as well. I love you, and now open myself to you as well. Do not take me for granted, and promise me, that no matter what happens between us, your love for me will never fade, and that you will guard my heart as if it were the rarest of all treasures, as I guard yours.
Your little wife,
~Christine
