Erik stood at the edge of a lake that he had never seen before, but had been a little distance from the garden. He couldn't wait till the garden was fully green and alive and see it all blooming in the spring time. He stood with his back out at the world as a the early morning glow of golden began to seep into the sky.
And as the world began to regain color from a long night, a rolling fog...well... mist really was more like it, was coming in and settling on the top of the lake. The air around him sparkled as the sun began to hit the little droplets. He had never seen such a sight in his life. Erik swayed his hand through the air in front of him momentarily and felt the little cold droplets collect onto his hand.
He loved this feeling... he felt standing here. Not only was it the beauty that surrounded him but the chance for change that had already been occurring and freedom. He was no longer condemned to be concealed forever in the depths of darkness under the opera house. He could now show his face -or rather not- in broad daylight. Go out in the snow, rain, sun, wind, anything the world had to offer outside. He sighed and smiled softly, this change was wonderful. What more could there be?

Awakening that morning Christine emerged out of her bed and left her room and waited to go find Erik. Finding a note on the floor by her dresser she giggled and smiled. It read 'Meet me in the Garden'. Folding it up she held onto it and then she walked out of the manor and into the morning air.
Opening the front doors towards outside world, Christine walked out towards the gardens. Looking around she found him and she grinned softly. "Good Morning, Erik..." she said in a gentle voice. The thick Fog surrounded him and the flowers. "Have I kept you waiting long?" she asked tilting her head a little as she arrived next to him.

Erik suddenly closed his eyes for a moment when he heard an angel's voice. Christine. He remembered that between the time he had first seen her come here... the second time rather and now, he had tried to convince himself that perhaps he was not what was best for Christine. And that he would have to forever be her dark guardian.
However... things had suddenly changed. In the last week or so in fact. Erik had spent much of that week alone, he ran into no one and he would only occasionally visit the opera house in the manor. This gave him plenty of time to think and through all the doubt that he had placed in his own mind, and all the fear of time repeating himself- he came upon a conclusion. He would not live without her. Nay- he could not live without her.
As much as he had tired to convince himself that he was no good, that she would never be able to love him, he couldn't keep himself from hope. It was almost like a bittersweet venom, his hope, and it was impossible to completely destroy. Even through all that had happened the very first time she had arrived at the manor... it just couldn't stop him from still longing for her. Christine then had asked if she had kept him long, knocking him out of his thoughts and he turned to her, smiling. "Good morning Christine. And no, you came just in time. I am glad to see you found the note." He said, walking up to her.
Erik gently took her hand in his, feeling her rose petal soft skin and warmth. "Christine... I have much to speak to you about. But I must warn you... not all of it may be something you wish to hear and much, if not all, will be confusing." He said, then paused while looking into her beautiful brown eyes. Oh how he longed to stare into them forever. He felt that winter, including the one of his emotion, would soon be over and that either way, a spring will emerge. "Its... its about your first time coming to the manor. I mean, before you can remember. I don't exactly know how you don't but... I suppose it might be better that way." He said, still gazing at her. Then moved in closer, wrapping his arm around her waist gently. "Would you care to walk with me?"

Emerging out of the manor that morning, she closed her eyes and breathed in the morning air. It was all very relaxing and Giselle only smiled a few. A sigh escaped her as she walked towards Erik. Smiling she said nothing. Ever since her arrival here to this small place, Giselle had managed to meet duplicates and many other versions of her Erik and herself. She approached him and smiled a bit more.
Making her way to his side she could only smile and look about. The morning mist was still hovering over the garden and she looked back at Erik. "I was worried i was going to have you waiting" she explained. "But I'm glad to know that I came in time to see you," she told him. Giselle then brushed out a stray of hair from her face and she smiled a bit as he walked towards her. "I trust you slept well yes?" she asked tilting her head once he was close enough.
The smile never faded Giselle's face and she listened to his words. Her eyes closed and she looked at his hand once she reopened them and she looked up at him. "Well I am eager to know what you are wanting to talk about Erik" she said softly. "I understand" she told him. Giselle darted her eyes out of his for a moment as she looked around her surroundings then back of his. "Of course, I'd love to walk with you" she said to him. Giselle closed her eyes once more as he wrapped an arm around her waist and she looked up at his eyes. "Feel free to lead on, Maestro" she said smiling still. It felt nice to be in the arms of her Angel of Music once again.

It almost felt strange to be called Maestro again. Strange, but rather comforting coming from his Christine's lips. Erik went ahead and led them slowly through the misted garden, happy to be outside for all the days he had to stay in, and enjoyed the warmth of the rising sun and Christine being in his arms. He was silent for a bit of it, not yet wanting to break such a lovely moment.
Erik then finally sighed quickly and looked at Christine, and began to speak without missing a step in their walk. "When you had first arrived at the manor, it had been the day after your performance at the Bistro. I had gotten here first and when we finally met here, at the manor, again... it was rather splendid. However... I am not sure what exactly happened but after a while... you had began to get irritated at me. You see at that point Christine you had told me..." Erik paused and looked at Christine, then kept going.
"You told me you loved me..." He paused again and smiled slightly, looking into Christine's beautiful brown eyes again. "And I told you that I loved you in return...I really do Christine... I love you..." Erik said, his bright blue eyes shinning like stars. He then looked down some and continued their walk and talk before she could say anything back quite yet. "But I had lived all my life underneath the opera house... and had yet learned how to really show my affections. You had grown upset with me... so upset I wouldn't see you for weeks at a time. But one night you came back... and you let me show you how much I loved you..."
Erik glanced down for a moment, remembering that precious night that only he will get to remember. Then continued on quickly. "But afterwards... you attempted suicide. And then... you disappeared... almost indefinitely..." He said, looking at her quite sadly, his eyes almost deathly depressed, but then in a moment it was gone and he was smiling again. "But your here again... different and with no memory of before... but I know your not the same... not at all. And quite better that way too. I know you wont do any of that again... Christine." Erik said rather happily, one of his hands had some how found it's way to beneath her face and jaw, tilting it up slightly to look deeply into her brown eyes. He loved her then, and he will sure as anything will love her now.

It was truly a beautiful morning and she couldn't have asked for a better one. Christine breathed in the morning air as she walked alongside of Erik and she said nothing for sometime. Keeping silent and she looked up at him as he looked at him. Giving him a small smile and listening to what he had to say. Christine listened to what he had to say and she remembered those moments and she walked with him still.
Hearing his words she remained silent still. Hanging on every word he said and she looked at him and she said nothing still. Unsure of when it was her chance to speak and she looked up at him. "What are you trying to say ?" she asked suddenly. Her face was filled with confusion and she said nothing else for sometime. Keeping silent and she turned her head and she looked at him.
With her eyes widening she was stunned by his words. Yes she did in fact say she loved him but she was young then. But she still loved him till this very day and he had protected her within the Opera House when things were hectic and Christine looked at him. Coming closer to him she raised her hand up to his mask and touched it gently. "I know you do. So do I" she said smiling brightly. Christine looked at him still and she smiled a bit. "And h-how do you expect to do that Erik?" she asked nervously.
"Oh, Erik...." she whispered watching him look down and she frowned. Then she looked into his eyes. "I promise you i will never do that again. I love you, you were always there for me as I'm going to be here for you" she said staring at him. Suddenly embracing him. "I promise I will not leave you..." she said softly. "That wasn't me though. I was back at our Opera House... " she explained pulling back lowering her hands down to his chest and looking up into his eyes and saying nothing else. "I promise I will not do anything like that" she said looking at him and waiting for his response. "I love you Erik. Always have......always will... " she whispered looking upon him.

Erik paused and looked down at her as she reached for his mask and told him she knew he loved her. And that she loved him in return. He couldn't help but smile, his eyes filled with wonder and happiness at her words. She then promised him that she would never do any of that again... that it was not her that had done those things. If only he could completely believe it. Maybe he could...
That one whisper, 'I love you Erik. Always have.... always will.' sent absolute shivers down his spine. He had heard her say that quite a few times... but it almost seemed like she meant it now than she ever did... her fist time here. Erik smiles and laughed joyously. He took Christine into his arms and gave her a warm hug then looked back into her deep brown eyes. "I am very... very glad to hear that from you Christine..." He smiled and was suddenly leaning in and gently kissing her on the lips.

Christine looked up into his eyes and went silent. Unsure of what to do at this point and she smiled softly. A sigh escaped her and she said nothing for sometime. "Erik..." she whispered suddenly moving closer to him. Christine inhaled and listened to his words. Her eyes slowly to closed and remained still.
Once he hugged her she felt him kissing her and she wrapped her arms around his neck. "Erik..." she muttered again and she kissed him return. Her eyes still closed and she remained where she was. Not wanting to go anywhere, and Christine lowered one hand to his chest. "Never let me go..." she whispered to him in between the kiss.

'Never let me go...' Those words were words that he never thought he would hear in one sentence coming from her beautiful rose colored lips. The words were as sweet as her singing voice and it sent shivers up his spine. He sighed gently in sweet bliss. Erik loved her and she had uttered the words that she loved him. He only dreamed of feeling this happy again, to feel her in his arms again.
But his heart then dropped, plummeting through the ground, for only a second. Christine had yet to see what was behind his mask. His resemblance to a face covering of where his face was suppose to be was the very thing that had ruined his relationship with her last time. Or at least that's all he could blame it on. It showed for only a moment in his eyes, that sickened sadness, but it was gone as fast as it had come and was now replaced with the same happiness that he felt again as he held her close. "I wouldn't dream of ever letting you go."

Christine remained close to Erik for sometime. Her face was buried within his chest and she nuzzled him softly. She had her hands on his back but soon one was brought to his chest and she gripped onto his shirt he wore, and she closed her eyes for sometime. She loved him, yes. Christine didn't want to be anywhere else at this point she only wanted to be with him. Her eyes closed and she said nothing for sometime. He helped her through her childhood and everything she had been through. He was there through it all. Christine sighed and she nuzzled his chest again.
"I want to thank you...." she began in a hushed tone. "For everything you've done for me. You've looked after me, and I couldn't have asked for a better person to love me than you" she said sighing. Having thought of Philippe, she didn't know what to do with him anymore. Christine could care less about him right now and she turned to look up at him. Christine listened to his words and smiled softly. Giving a small laugh. "You've changed my life by giving me singing lessons..." she said in a small voice again. "Oh, Erik... I couldn't be anymore happier right now" she said sighing. Placing her head upon his chest again and nuzzling him.

Erik glanced down at his love for a moment when she began to speak, telling them that she wanted to thank him. He smiled wider when she told him that there couldn't be a better person to love her than him, to which he momentarily did a happy dance in his head as he knew that he had defeated that pretty-boy de Chagny that he was quite sure may never arrive here.
Erik's heart was flying- soaring! Christine told him she couldn't be any happier but there were a few things that popped into his head that gave him an idea that could have made her happier. If his head hadn't been any clearer, he may have tried to marry her on the spot! However, there was more than just one reason why he couldn't do that. He loved her will all of his soul and had given up so much for her, not enough he dare say, but he would gladly give more for her love in return.
Erik began to speak, his voice a velvet whisper. "Christine, I love you more than you could possibly know. I will never give you up and if there ever is a moment that you feel alone, remember that I am always here for you and that I will forever be with you." He said smiling, saying each word with complete confidence and tenderness. "I don't want you to ever forget this moment... and I will savor it for all my life, Christine. If I am asleep - never let me wake, and if I am awake - never let me sleep." Erik said, holding her a little tighter in his arms and forever printing this moment onto the back of his eyelids so whenever he closed his eyes, he would always see her and this moment.

Remaining where she was Christine closed her eyes and she said nothing for sometime. Her head was resting upon his chest and hearing his heart beat. A smile grew and she kept her arms around him. Holding onto him afraid he would disappear right out of her arms if she released him. Christine gave a sigh and she nuzzled him. Christine squeezed a little tighter onto him and remained close.
Hearing his words she smiled more and said nothing for a moment. "I never want to leave you ever again. If we do return home at some point or another, I just want to be with you forever and always" she whispered to him. "Do not wake, I do not want to be alone and be scared" she said sighing. Christine picked up her head from his chest and she looked up into his eyes. "I'm just so happy right now, I don't wish to be anywhere else...but here" she informed him still staring into his eyes.

Erik brought his hand up and gently moved away a single lock of hair that had fallen in front of her face to behind her ear, his own gesture made his whole body tingle as he gazed happily at her smiling face. She never wanted to leave him.... she wanted to stay with him forever... she wish to be nowhere else but here.... with him.
Christine may have not been able to hear it, but his heart was weeping with joy. For once... he felt like a man. There had always been a feeling that he really was a ghost....a phantom.... even at the manor and when he met Lenoir and Christine the first time.... he felt like he was still some sort of a phantom in the back of his mind. But right now, right in this beautiful moment, he felt complete, warm, and happy all over. The once empty void was now overflowing... there was now only one thing left.
There would now be only one question to ever tug at his mind. Would she still believe all of this if she saw his face? Erik of course didn't want to risk it... but which was worse? For her to continue to love the man in a mask, never to know if she could love the face behind it and truly love him or to show her and know if she truly could love him or not. He couldn't live if she wasn't able to love him without it.... there were so many possibilities.... too many to count. The manor had already given him a possible outcome and he didn't wish for it to be the same one. But now it was about trust.... trust and love. Could she do it? Could he do it?
Erik bent down a little and kissed her again, long and deeply as if it were to be their last kiss, then almost out of breath he pulled back and looked deeply into Christine's brown eyes, is own blue ones gazing seriously but loving and tenderly. He should have been perfectly fine with her not seeing.... it shouldn't have bothered him. But it did. And he had to know, stupidly, but the only thing worse than not being loved is tricking someone into loving you falsely. "Christine.... I want to trust you with my whole heart.... and for you to trust me with yours. You know I love you with every fiber of my being and dreamed of you all my life. When we first met.... I told you that my mask was to keep my anonymous. It was only part true..... Christine."
Erik took in a deep breath, looking almost he was on the verge of tears now, though they would never come down... they still pooled at the bottom of his eyes. "I am hideously.... disfigured. That is why I wear this mask.... and all my other masks. Though I believe you can already come to this conclusion, especially if you have met any of the other Eriks running about the manor. But.... I want to trust you..... show you my face...." He paused, his breath now shaky and his body gone cold. "I want you to think of the worse possible disfigurement you can..... and then double that. Christine.... do you believe..... you could... could still love me? Knowing all this.... and if you can.... could you possibly look?" He had no idea how this would turn out... he knew that there was a chance he just ruined everything. But he had to try... he had know..... he loved her.

As Erik brought his hand up to remove a stray hair, she closed her eyes and she opened them again and she looked up at him and said nothing else for sometime. Giselle remained where she was and she was very happy and she loved this man with all her heart. He truly was the Angel of Music her father had sent to her from heaven to watch over her.
When he kissed her, Giselle closed her eyes and she inhaled sharply and she grabbed a hold of his wrist and she moaned a little within the kiss. Giselle didn't want to pull away but when he did she looked into his a little. The kiss was brilliant and she looked into his eyes and she giggled softly. "I love you so much Erik..." she whispered to him. "I will never leave you, and I do trust you so much. You've always been there for me, and taught me all I know about singing and about everything..." she whispered. Then she grinned softly as she listened to his words. Giselle said nothing and she looked up at him. "Of course, I would always keep things a secret from others..." she whispered again.
"Your not hideous your a beautiful person. I love you...for you Erik nothing will change that" she whispered to him. She pressed her forehead against his and she closed her eyes. Nuzzling slowly and she said nothing again. Hearing his words she looked at him and she said nothing for a moment. "I've always wanted to peek into your mask to see your face Erik, but you never gave me the chance" she said to him. As he spoke to her she looked at him. "Of course, nothing will change that..as I said" she told him. Then she stepped back and she touched his mask. "Just tell me when to stop, and I will gladly stop Erik..." she said looking into his eyes. She paused and she stared at him waiting for his answer.

Erik did all he could do to restrain himself from shaking but he almost couldn't help it, even with how many times it has happened already. But it seemed to be such bad luck to see his face. There was that moving picture that showed that she would faint, which she did even at the Manor, then there was Vicomtesse de Chagny who had seen his face and was now gone without a trace.
He hoped this would be different, he prayed to all things possible to keep this different... things could not possibly be the same.... he didn't know if he could handle if it did. He nodded slightly when she said that she would stop whenever he asked her too. "Do it slowly.... and if at any point you feel faint or sick, I ask you to quickly recover my face. I leave this all up to you my dearest Christine..." He said, staring deeply into her eyes. He wanted to close his eyes, scared of what he might see.... but this was all now or never.
