((This is just a note for me – you can ignore it – but this thread comes before the one with Claude in the timeline *nods* Okay XD now continue.
Another note for anyone reading, we decided to restart this thread since Aimeric's character was started over between now and the original))
It hadn't been often recently that Christine had sung. The past few months at the manor had been rather quiet in terms of music, especially when compared to her former career at the Opéra Garnier. Yes, she had sung on occasion (it was difficult to avoid entirely) but she was not required to like then.
The past couple of days had been an entirely different story though. It was a strange thing, really. Ever since that visit to the zoo with her fiancé, she had been almost a different person entirely. The dark gloom of melancholy no longer lingered over those charming features and instead they were just as bright and as full of life as a little child at play. Considering the fact that she had been entirely opposed to the zoo visit at first, it was especially shocking.
And now, there she stood in the opera house. She had found an old rehearsal upright piano rolled just offstage and was picking out a few notes on it. It had been so long since she'd sung – since she had really sung – and honestly, she wondered if she still could. Well... of course she could still sing... What she had meant was more that she wondered whether or not she could still sing like she had before, at the Garnier.
Pondering this thought, she played a middle C sharp and hummed the tone softly to herself before stepping back from the wings, out into the stage a little bit, and began to sing.
“Nous venions de voir le taureau, trois garçons, trois fillettes.
Sur la pelouse il faisait beau et nou dansions un boléro au son de castagettes.
Dîtes-moi, voisin, si j'ai bonne mine et si ma basquine va bien ce matin.
Vous me trouvez la taille fine? Vous me trouvez la taille fine?
Ah! Les filles de Cadix aiment assez cela!
Ah! Les filles de Cadix aiment assez cela!
La ra la la la la la! La ra la la la la la!
Les filles de Cadix aiment assez cela! Ah!”
She could not help but to dance a bit with herself as she sand, for it was, in fact, a song about dancing. She had hardly finished the first verse of the Delibes mélodie when someone entered the opera house. Being so wrapped up in her song, however, she did not take notice.
((If you want to hear what song she's singing, the whole piece is actually here. Natalie Dessay is also conveniently who I use for her voice claim in most cases since Christine Nilsson never recorded her voice.))
