ORIGINAL CHARACTER GUIDE
This guide is here to help you when you're unsure exactly how to go about making original characters for this site. There are three (well... really four, but we'll get to that later) catagories of OCs that have their own member groups. These are the Ghosts, the Villagers, and the Phantom OCs.
Ghosts are a necessity to any abandoned castle. If it weren't for these spooky apparitions, our beloved Phantom characters wouldn't come to this melting pot of a manor. They can be mischievous and cunning, and they usually form cliques according to class. The ghosts are quite translucent, but they can still hold and pick up objects, and even touch the Phantom characters, especially since they have power over them. Until a few of these ghosts are taken, they will be played as NPCs that can be godmodded in whatever you post until that ghost is taken, because the ghosts really need to interact with the Phantom characters immediately. You can play as a former king or queen, other nobles, servants, mistresses, or squatters who have died within these hallowed halls. New arrivals are happening everyday as they pass through the gates of the Netherworld into the manor, a hotspot for paranormal activity. The ghosts have regular meetings once a week, and their latest meeting called to attention the lack of people in the house to haunt and bother. They can't leave the grounds, so they decided to bring the Phantom characters out of their canon in the hopes of making friends (or enemies), and to just not be lonely any more. Ghosts will fade if there's no one there to notice them.
GHOSTS NEEDED:
Possible Names: Edward, Stewart, James, other kingly names. Last names must reflect the royal family he's attached to. Also include the First, Second, Third, etc, whichever.
Possible playby: Liam Neeson
Basic Personality: The main leader of the ghosts, the King is perhaps the most lively of the bunch. He is kind and benevolent, but perhaps a bit naive in trusting people. He was killed in life in the 1500's after a close adviser of his betrayed him.
Countess ______ ______
Possible Names: Giselle, Annette, Louisa.
Possible playby: Rachel Hurd-Wood
Basic Personality: The Countess was once an official mistress of the crown in the 1700's. She is sly and cunning, and is not above manipulation to get her way. She was born illegitimately, and mothered (still born) illegitimate children as well. Perhaps this is a reason for her bitterness.
Miss ______ ______
Possible names: Mary, Elizabeth, Caroline.
Possible playby: Romola Garai
Basic Personality: This young woman from the Regency era was visiting the castle when she became ill with an influenza that killed both her and half of the household. She was always frail in life, and was often clumsy. She would probably be the source of most broken dishes in the manor.
Colonel ______ ______
Possible Names: Kurt, John, Nicholas (Nick)
Possible playby: John Barrowman
Basic Personality: During the second World War, the palace officially became abandoned, and it was used as both a hospital and a headquarters for the Allied powers. The Colonel was a an American who fought bravely, but died in surgery after a dangerous raid with shrapnel in his heart. He's rather quick tongued, and is easy to pick a fight with, but usually doesn't speak up during the ghost meetings.
These are of course only suggestions, and your free to make any ghost you may wish, or take the playbys from these suggestions for your own character. This is just a guide. :3
The villagers are self explanatory, really. They're typical villagers. Or perhaps, if you feel zany enough, they could be something more. Many of them are afraid of the castle, so they might not even go near it, unless their friends drag them over there. The Phantom characters, unlike the ghosts, are free to leave the manor however they choose, they just cannot go back to their own worlds (this is why they stick together). Why don't the Villagers interact with them? After all, eventually they're going to realize that these new people to the town are all pretty much together when they hear they all live in the manor. There's bound to be some confusion and chaos when this happens!
VILLAGERS NEEDED:
______ ______
Possible names: Jessica, Alexandra (Alex), Paige
Possible playby: Anne Hathaway
Possible personality: This girl is a reporter fresh out of college, who moved back to her home town to get the scoop. She's very snoopy and will usually go to great lengths to get her story, and has always been fascinated with the manor. The new residents are sure to pique her interest.
______ ______
Possible names: Charlie, George, Michael
Possible playby: Josh Duhamel
Basic Personality: This guy can be either a school teacher or a mechanic. I see him as a big brother type of guy who likes to offer advice to people in the town. He's your average nice guy who gets along with everyone, but maybe there's something sinister lurking underneath his kind eyes.
Again, these are just suggestions! Feel free to change them or make others however you want!
There are two types of Phantom Original Characters that you can take. The first type is Original versions of the main characters, who are mostly Erik, Christine, and Raoul. These are taken from the manuscripts of fanfictions and possible fan novels that the owner of the castle was writing before they died. This opens up to a whole slew of possibilities where you can make alternate universe versions of the canon characters. I won't give real suggestions, but examples of this would be perhaps a modern day version of Erik and Christine, or supernatural wise you could have vampire and werewolf versions. You could have a mixture of two different versions of Erik, or if you just have an awesome idea for an AU canon character, you can use them here! Be warned, remember you're allowed two of each main canon character (two Eriks, two Christines, two Raouls), but that doesn't mean you can go and take four more Eriks from this catagory. Please have some variety in your character choice.
The second kind of Phantom OC is fairly simple. If you want to take a character that might have existed in one of the canons but was never mentioned, this is the place for you! Perhaps you want one of the unnamed ballerinas in the corps de ballet who come to La Sorelli in a fit in the original novel? Or perhaps you want a tightrope walker from Love Never Dies? Or a conductor, or a supporting singer in one of the operas? Whatever your heart desires, you can make whoever you wish, so long as it's reasonable.
Remember when creating your OC that we’re not completely fantasy heavy a site, but we will allow vampire, werewolf, and witch versions of the canon characters so long as you pm an admin about what direction you’re going with your OC. We do allow ghosts, after all, xD. We do NOT allow Twilight/teenage vampire/werewolf type characters. More along the lines of Dracula and Anne Rice. We will limit the number of these types of characters that are available, however, so keep that in mind.
