It was very early one morning, before the sun was even beginning to peek over the edge of the horizon in the east. Any ordinary person would have been fast asleep during this wee hour of the day, but such was not the case this morning for one singular Madame Christine de Chagny, who was in bed wide awake while her husband of only a few brief months time lay sound asleep beside her. She watched him as he slept, a small smile gracing her rosy lips as she did so. He looked so peaceful laying there...
She let out a soft, contented sigh and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips, then brushed a little bit on hair out of his face... And then, her smile faded. There were things that they needed to talk about, and she was not so certain of what his reaction might be to some of them. She just... didn't know how to tell them to him. To be quite honest, she was a little afraid to tell them to him... No matter what way he took it, things were never likely to be quite the same between them again...
Carefully, so as not to accidentally awaken him, Christine slipped out of bed. She needed to take a walk. Perhaps it would help to clear her head and she might get some sort of an idea as to how she could break things to Raoul gently... She shivered a bit as her feet hit the cold wood floor. It had been quite cold, recently. She looked around the bedroom and found her dressing gown and a pair of slippers and slipped them on over her night dress. It was still early enough that there shouldn't have been anyone else up at all, so she wasn't particularly worried about bumping into anyone along her little walk through the halls of the manor.
When she had finished dressing in the dressing gown, she went to the door of the room and unlocked it, but was a bit surprised, when she opened it, to see who was right there, bent over and kneeling on the ground, leaving something in front of the door. She looked down at him, her blue eyes a bit wide with surprise (though really, she should have expected seeing such).
“Monsieur Lavalais?...”
