Curiosity Killed The Cat (Aimeric)

Lydia had been searching around the stuffed up manor for a few days. There was barely enough food to last her and the other's more than another couple days. She had heard around that there was a village and had, in time, hoped that perhaps the rumors were true. That this was not just some deep thought in the back of her mind getting to her.

Wandering out the front doors of the old, dusty place she called home now, Lydia eyes burned when the light hit her eyes. Had it really been that long since she'd been outside? Since she'd seen the sun or felt the fresh air reach her lungs as she breathed. For a moment she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Usually, Lydia spent her time in solitude, indoors and alone but she now realized how special the world could be when being without it.

She continued to walk off into a distance, a village could be seen from atop a nearby hill. When she saw it, she nearly ran back to call for the other's but the ill fitting dress she wore was too long. The way it flowed under her feet caused her to fall from the hill, rolling down until she reached the edge of where the village was.

Now scoffed up and dirty, Lydia tried to get up from the ground but felt dizzy. Instead, she sat looking around and trying to clear the dizziness from her mind. She saw people dressed in weird clothing. She smelled food and heard voices. In some ways that comforted her but in other's it worried her. Lydia often times was not easily intimidated but the moment she heard footsteps, she grew rather frightened.

Aimeric was sleeping inside his home, relaxed, and stress free for once. He woke up when his cat, Mosh, woke him up. Mosh began licking his face, and he laughed faintly. "I'm trying to sleep, Moshhhhh..." The cream coloured cat licked his face yet again, and meowed. Apparently he wasn't getting back to sleep. "Fine, fine, I'm up." He got up and stretched, yawning. He took off his tanktop, and went to the kitchen to make himself a fresh pot of coffee. He whistled as he made it, and poured a cup for himself once it was done. He had the window open most of the night, so it was pretty drafty within the house. He threw his tank back on, and took his coffee, heading for the porch. He took a seat on the porch, and looked around, enjoying the view. The first thing he saw was a large mansion in the distance, and it always had him curious as to what was in there. He looked around it, and saw a lady rolling down a hill. He nearly spit out his coffee. 'What happened..?' He thought.

He quickly hopped off of the porch, and walked quickly towards the direction of the lady to get a closer view. He watched her from behind a garbage can, curious as to what she looked like. He got a glimpse of her face, and nearly gasped. She was a very beautiful lady, not something that one saw often. He hesitantly peeked out of his hiding spot, and threw his coffee in the garbage, careless of what happened to the ceramic mug. He started to slowly walk towards her, gulping. He was as nervous and shy as one could be, but he couldn't pass up talking to her. Once he was no more than a couple feet away, he looked at her, and found the courage to speak. "M-Mademoiselle...Are you alright?" He asked slowly.

For a while, Lydia couldn't process any sounds other than the footsteps. How did she end up like this again? She looked around her surroundings and then back at the hill. 'Great job! Pero estas loca, mija...' She thought to herself. She was crazy! A dancer such as herself should not have been so clumsy. Oh, Madame Giry would have been furious if she had known that Lydia had lost any sense of balance. Once again Lydia heard noises and had a slight sense of eyes watching her. Chills ran down her spine for a moment and she began to fear the worst. Someone was there, she knew someone was there, yet saw no one.

Again the foot steps began and suddenly a rather tall man came up from behind her. She jumped and practically screamed yet held it back. How long had he been watching her? Had he seen her fall? She gazed up at him, slightly confused. What was he wearing?! What kind of a oddity was this? "I-I..." She couldn't find her voice for a moment for she was unexpectedly frightened. She should have stayed in the manor.

Too late to go back and unsure if she could stand, Lydia tried to read the individual before her. He did not seem dangerous. But she had learned not to trust appearance. She shuttered, thinking of the ghastly man she had met her first confusing day in the eerie building. Her throat cleared and she tried to be confident. "I'm quite alright." Lydia responded with a raised chin and fierce eyes. She had to give the illusion that she was not afraid.

Aimeric watched her, almost in a daze. But when she became surprised, he nearly gasped. He wasn't good with meeting new people, and this wasn't a very good start. "Oh, I'm sorry Mademoiselle. I didn't mean to scare you.." He said, trying to be as kind as possible to her. The last thing he needed was her getting frightened by him. The way she seemed so..confident made him a bit more shy. Though, that didn't seem very possible with the way he was. He took notice of how beautiful she was again, inside his mind. Though his mind was just trying to torture him once again. He never had any luck with girls. None of them ever wanted a shy guy. They always wanted the tough guy, who in his mind were all of the rude and nasty ones. "O-Oh, that's good." 'That's it? Really Aimeric?' He thought to himself. If he was going to properly meet someone, he needed to say more than that. "Are you lost?" He asked her kindly, and offered her a hand to help her up.

He was puzzled as to how she had rolled down the hill. 'Was it the long dress?' He thought to himself. He was curious if she had come from the manor. Perhaps she could tell him more about it, if that's where she had come from. He was always curious as to what there was to explore inside, and who there was to see. It looked like a haunted place, like he had seen in movies. It didn't really scare him that much, though. It almost had a slight resemblence of an opera house, at least he thought.

The moment he apologized, Lydia relaxed. A mistake, on her part. Deep in the back of her mind she refused to let her guard down. But for the moment, this man seemed to be nice enough. "You didn't." She said harshly. Lydia was stubborn. She refused to admit her own fear. But she knew she had to ease up. There were good people in-where ever the Hell she was. He spoke up again and immediately she softened up. He seemed nervous, not a trait she saw in men very often. "Lost?" The word rolled on the tip of her tongue and she nearly lost her nerve by laughing. Lost... Yes. She was lost. She had no idea where she was or why people dressed so oddly.

"I...don't know..." She mumbled in a voice that seemed distant, furrowing her brow as she tried to figure out how to answer that question. "Can you tell me where I am?" She noticed the hand her offered and hesitated in taking it. When her hand touched his she felt tense in discomfort. A stranger offering to help her. Could she trust him? When he helped her up, the ankle which she had nearly twisted the night before in the ballroom of the manor began to throb but she hid her pain and looked over the stranger in curiosity.

He felt his heart sink when she spoke to him so harshly. But he wasn't going to let something so little get in the way. He noticed that she was most definitely lost, and how she looked confused. He himself was confused, mostly because of how strangely this was going along. He felt as though he was going to celebrate right then and there, though. Not often did he get so far in conversation with someone he was meeting. This is why he didn't have many friends, because of how he didn't know how to communicate and keep his cool. This was amazing for him, and he felt accomplished inside because of how this was going. It was certainly better than most conversations he had had in the past.

He helped her up, and then nodded. "Of course. You're in the village above all other villages! It stands out from the rest because of how it's laying right beside that mansion over there, and so I can see why you'd be confused. Just a mile east is the village of Milton, if you're familiar with that.This is the village of...Well...It's just called 'The village'. We've never given it a name...Perhaps we should..." He said this a bit more confident, but still very shy. (I feel like he's presenting her the village as if they were in Doctor Who xDD) She seemed like she was genuinely lost, so he was trying to help her out as best he could.

Noticing the way her harsh words seemed to sting him, she flinched a bit. She had lost her manners. Her looked down on the ground below her as she felt ashamed of herself for being so judgmental of someone she did not know. Yes, no one could be trusted but that did not give her the right to treat other's the way she had just treated him. Right in that instance, Lydia could hear her mother's voice scolding her for being an impolite child. That was one of the last memories she had of her mother before everything went sour.

"Not in Paris?" She mumbled more to herself than to him. If she wasn't in Paris, where the Hell was she? "I...see..." Lydia folded her arms across her chest and shook her head before pacing about with a slight limp. Being who she was, Lydia did not notice she was limping, nor did she care. She just wanted answers and she wanted them now. Turning to look at the young man once again she tried her best not to question his clothing. After all, it was very odd.

He was awfully confused. She thought she was in Paris? Why would she have thought that? "You...thought you were in Paris..? Wait, where are you coming from, though?" He asked. He really was curious now. After all, she had just figured out that she wasn't in Paris, which he found concerning. When she meant lost, she had really meant it. He hadn't seen anything like this before, and it was weird for him to try and help someone who had just thought they were in Paris.

Aimeric really wondered if she was coming from that mansion, now. It always seemed like he had a slice of Paris just across the road. He still had no explanation for this all, though. It was all just so...odd. He was going to do everything he could do to help her, though. She was someone he'd like to get to know more. He was becoming less shy as they kept speaking, and it really felt good inside. He couldn't help but feel like he needed to just smile, because he was so proud of himself. When he was a child, he wouldn't have even walked up to someone if they were hurt. He would just stay away, and let someone else who could handle those types of things deal with it. But his life changed, and now he was learning to become less nervous around people, although it wasn't such a huge change from when he was a child.

As answer to his question she simply nodded. "I...I had to have been. Unless someone is playing a cruel trick 0n all of us.." She muttered in slight frustration. The thought frightened more than anything. If she was not in Paris or in France, how the devil did she end up in this place. "I told you. Paris...I was wandering a few passages at the opera when I found myself-" She stopped to turn quick on her heels which made her flinch in pain from her ankle before pointing at the manor.

"I've no recollection of how I came to this place." Her voice was again drifted as she entered her thoughts. Was he going to hurt her? Was he in on this? Did he know how she ended up there? Question after question ran through her mind as he head spun in circles in the midst of her confusion. "The people that are in there..." She shuttered first seeing Alexander in her mind, then twitched at the experience she had first had with Christine Ellen and when Erik Lenoir came to mind she calmed a bit. He and Christine were the only ones she trusted in that place, if only slightly. Though her trust leaned more towards Christine, due to the fact they'd worked together.

She continued to question, her frustrations creating more of a trouble for her to breathe. The corset she wore felt as though it were suffocating her and she felt nearly ready to collapse yet she panted before calming down. "Please...I don't know how I got here or where I am or what I'm doing here...I-I just..." And with those last words she broke down. Lydia had been strong for days now. She had held back her fear, held back her disgust and her anger, but no longer could she do so. Though, Lenoir had thought that this would perhaps bring answers, it only brought more questions.

He was genuinely confused now. Nothing was making sense, none of the puzzle pieces were fitting together for him. 'She ended up in there somehow, but she doesn't know how...How is that possible?' He thought. He didn't really know what to say at this point. He was going to have to try and find a way to help her...He couldn't just leave her like this now. He just couldn't.

He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I don't know how you ended up here, but I promise that I'll help you somehow..." He said in a sympathetic voice. He felt terrible for what was happening, and when she broke down, he felt even worse. He put his other hand on her shoulder. "Mademoiselle...I'll help you, I promise I will, no matter what. I don't like seeing you so distraught and confused like this..." He didn't even know her name, and yet he hated seeing her like this...It made no sense to him as to why, but he did. He wanted to try and calm her down, but he wasn't quite sure of what to do.

When she officially realized she had turned into a whining little girl, Lydia shut her eyes tight and stopped her crying. She came to see if there was a village and now that she knew there was, she would get what she had to and tell everyone about it. The first thing she would mention was the oddity of it all. The clothing, the sounds around her. None of it made sense to her, but of course, why would it? She was no longer in Paris.

The man spoke up again and she cringed the moment he touched her shoulder. 'Oh God...He's going to try to kidnap me.' She thought to herself. But before she could fright him off the sympathy in his voice changed her mind. Still, her guard was up. No one could be trusted. "You don't know me...How can you offer to help?" She asked curiously. Her accent was rather thick for someone who lived in Paris. But it was not that of a Parisean accent. It was Spanish, though she never really noticed. Especially now with her head in the clouds. In her mind, she felt that this was all trap. Just a way to get her back into that manor without the supplies she needed, without any proof that there was a way out. Who would believe her if she spoke up anyway? Would anyone think her crazy? She knew not the answers to those questions and dared not answer them herself.

Aimeric was thinking of how odd this all was, these things didn't happen often...well, ever really. He had a feeling that she thought he was going to hurt her, so he was going to try and somehow convince her to think that he wasn't, since he would never do that. He noticed that she had a Spanish accent, which was odd to him since she was supposed to be living in Paris, apparently. It wasn't a bad thing, it was just unique to him. She looked as though she was from Spanish descent though, so it somewhat made sense.

"Well, first of all, I can change that. I'm Aimeric Jayden Devereux. And second, I'm not quite sure yet, but however I can help, I will. I can't leave you here like this, it wouldn't feel right." He admitted.This was the first long conversation he had in months, and he wasn't going to stop here. And she seemed like someone worth meeting, anyways. He was really wondering how he was going to help her, though.

Again she found her way up from the ground again and tried to dust off her ill fitting dress. The skirt was too long and the sleeves on her shoulders fell to her arms. Her corset was much too tight but she would not complain. After all, she was used to it. Her ankle shook as she leaned on it, yet she was too stubborn to admit any pain. "I have to get back." She muttered, looking over at the hill.

Silently she tried to walk up the hill without letting him say another word but she heard him speaking. The way that her ankle was pained made it impossible for her to get even half way up the hill without crying out in pain. Lydia was stubborn and refused to give up though. But she heard him offering to help and limped back to where she originally stood.

"My name is Lydia...Lydia Contanzi." She replied to his introduction in a tired voice. She was tired of meeting new people. She was tired of all this mystery and all those questions. Her brow raised and she looked at him oddly. "How do you propose to help me, senor? If I can not help myself...How can you help me?" Lydia couldn't help but question him. She had no idea where she was, only what she was told. She understood nothing as to how she had gotten here or how this man could help her. She just wanted answers.

He saw the way she was limping, and thought of how to help her. 'She must have hurt her ankle when she rolled down the hill..' He thought to himself. He was planning on helping her up the hill, but wasn't quite sure if she would be comfortable with it. After all, they had only just met a few minutes ago. He took a tiny step closer to her.

"Well, I could help you up the hill and back to...that building up there?" He asked, pointing to it. He wasn't completely sure if that's where she was planning on going, but if it was so, that's what he would help her do. "I could also help you bandage it up when we get to where you need to go, as well, if you'd like." He offered kindly. He was curious as to what the place she lived in looked like. 'Perhaps it'll be a slice of Paris...' He thought. 'Or, even smell like Paris...' He thought, extremely curious as of now.
