A lingering glance at Raoul Edouard then down at the tea as she stirred it before glancing at him again, "Of course not, Monsieur de Chagny," she said in a tone that made her sound both haughty and annoyed. Glancing at him then turned her eyes to the tea and looked rather different as though she forget it already. Most likely she did. Taking a sip of the tea. "Mmm," shaking her head, "No. No. That is fine, Monsieur de Chagny. I thank you for the offer young man, but... I... can't," trying not to look like it was painful to eat such a sweet, juicy treat.
Simply enjoying the sandwich and tea and especially Edouard's presence. "It's so good of you to come visit me, Monsieur de Chagny. I don't often get visitors." Forgetting that she already mentioned that, looking at him with such an innocent little old lady smile while holding that little cup of tea.

"Is there anything you are finished with, Madame Valerious? I am thinking that I must be leaving. My wife will be asking after me and I do not wish her to worry." He gathered up the dishes to be taken back to the kitchen, since she had said her servant was not about and was very lazy. He wondered if there indeed were a servant or if she were remembering someone from before she came here. And normally Edouard would not do menial work like that, but he suspected that the dishes might be here for a week if he did not remove them.
"I do hope you have a pleasant evening. It was very pleasurable meeting you and spending a delightful few hours with you. When I see Christine, I shall be sure to tell her I met you and how delightful you are and what a lovely time we had, Madame Valerius." He took her hand and in a sudden instinct to be kind and sweet to the old lady, kissed her hand gallantly.
"Bon soir, Madame Valerius. We shall meet again soon," said Edouard, as he left carrying the tray of dishes to the kitchen and hoping their next meeting wouldn't be too soon...
