“Yes.” Christine laughed, “You mentioned that a few times. Though I'm sure there will be plenty considering the amount here combined with the pasta, not to mention that strange pouch. Yes a strainer, like I said before. Careful.... Yes, like that. Next we add the tuna and the apparent cheese which is to be contained in those pouches...”
As Christine was continuing along with the preparations, she heard a soft humming coming from the man. Under normal circumstances, humming severely irritated the girl, for it was thin and often out of tune and reminded her of a bee or gnat buzzing its wings creating an unpleasant high pitch by her ears. But the humming that came from the man was actually in tune which was a shocking, yet pleasant surprise. The girl listened, smiling a little, as she continued to work. She did not dare address it now, but she would presently, perhaps later on during the tour...

“There is?” His face brightened again considerably when she said that there was plenty of tuna. “By Jove, I suppose there is—well, more for us, then.” he stated cheerfully, grinning at the flaked pieces of fish. He really should not have been this childishly excited over a meal, but he did enjoy seafood and the fact that he actually had a hand in preparing the meal just made him even more excited. Why just yesterday pretty much the only things he knew how to make were canned vegetables, eggs, toast, and sandwiches…and now here he was making pasta and tuna with cheese—of course with help, but still it was a feat in itself and one he was most proud of at the moment.
“Alright then…so ‘Stir in two cans of drained tuna.’ Easy enough…” He took the bowl and dumped it over the noodles, which he began mixing together, still humming and not realizing what he had been doing. “And then after that we add in the contents of the Velveeta cheese pouch and start stirring…I’m assuming that’s the thing I mentioned before.” He picked up the pouch, opened it, and began squeezing the melted cheese over the pasta. “So it was melted to begin with…that’s strange.” After he finished emptying the pouch, he began stirring the cheese in over the noodles until it was blended and then went off to get two plates. “This cooking thing really isn’t all that bad…I should like to try it again sometime.”

Christine couldn't help but laugh at the way that he said this. “Yes, yes there is. Plenty for both of us.” It was funny to see a man so giddy over a pot full of pasta of all things. She smiled at him and shook her head. It was almost cute in a bizarre sort of way.
“Yes, it is rather strange, isn't it? she said as the man continued humming. She could not quite place the tune though. It sounded rather folksy, but was obviously not any of the old Swedish melodies which she used to sing with her father. It was nice though. It reminded her of when she was younger and she and her father would wander about the countryside with nothing but their music and each other. “Is it at all warm?” she asked him. She was taking mental note that she would have to ask him to actually sing for her later. Nor did not seem an appropriate time, as it would seem they were nearly ready to eat...

He ceased his humming when she asked him a question and nodded. “I think it is.” He picked up the larger spoon and began dishing out pasta on each of the plates. Reaching into one of the drawers, he pulled out two forks and handed one to Christine before taking a bite of the pasta. A smile spread across his face and he nodded. “Yes, it’s certainly warm enough. And it is very good. I should think that our tea is ready.” He walked back over to the stove and took off the teapot and poured the boiling water into the cups with the tea.
He also remembered to bring over some sugar, and stirred in two lumps into his own tea before sliding it over to Christine. Taking a sip, he smiled. “Well, mademoiselle, I daresay we’ve outdone the best chefs of France today. We make a good team.” he stated teasingly with a nod before drinking some more of his tea. He had to remember to suggest a dish similar to this to his chef back home—that is if he returned home. I’ll find a way out of here…there must be some way out of here, he told himself firmly.

Christine couldn't help but to chuckle when he said that it was warm enough. “I was actually referring to the melted cheese in the bag. Was it warm when you squeezed it out? Or was it just normal?”
Christine made the sign of the cross, bowed her head and folded her hands, and said a very short, silent prayer, then looked back up at him and smiled. She then took the fork from him and took a bite from her own plate. “Mmmm... yes, it is very good. Cheesy with a subtle spice...”
She stirred a lump of sugar into her own tea before smiling at his comment. “We do make quite the team, don't we?” It was true. When they weren't arguing over the existence or non-existence of imaginary opera houses, they worked quite well together. “Though I don't think I could quite say that we've outdone the best chefs in France,” she added with a chuckle before taking a sip of her tea and then returning to the plate of the cheesy tuna pasta and vegetable concoction before her.

“Oh…” Raoul laughed a bit himself, albeit embarrassedly when she clarified that her question had been about the cheese and not the noodles. “Yes, it was pretty warm I think—it wasn’t cold…” he answered. He rather enjoyed it—it reminded him of an Italian dish, but it was different, and prepared a bit differently he thought. He doubted that he would find this exact box anywhere back home—if indeed he did return home—but he was going to make sure to tell his chef about it, in hopes that he could make something similar. And if not, maybe he would try it for himself, since the process was easy enough.
“That we do, mademoiselle.” The Vicomte agreed with a smile, taking another sip from his tea. “And nonsense, my chef—now, don’t get me wrong, he’s a very good cook—but he’s never made anything quite like this.” he added with a chuckle. He ate a bit more of the pasta before speaking again. “So, here is the kitchen, as promised—is there any more of the manor you would like to see? There’s an opera house, a ballroom, a library, a garden…plenty of other places to see. I could give you a tour of sorts.” he offered.

((Nooooooooooooooooo! XD She cannot know how to get to the garden yet XDD ))
She nodded. That must have been it. It was warm to begin with and the packaging had contained the heat somehow. And since it was warm, it was already melted and easy to squeeze out of the bag. That made sense. Though why anyone would ever want to produce squeezable cheese from a bag was far beyond her.
Christine laughed at his comment about his chef. “Yes, here is the kitchen...” And then she smiled. “A tour would be nice. Perhaps becoming more familiar with the place will help me to not get lost in here... I'm afraid I became quite lost the last time I tried to explore here...”

“Alright then. Once we are finished, sailor, I shall be more than willing to give you a tour.” he replied lightly with a smile before eating some more of the pasta. “Finding your way around does get easier once you get used to the layout of the manor. I spent my first days here trying to familiarize myself with the areas closest to the dormitories and then worked my way outside. I doubt I’ve seen everything yet…this is much bigger than the palace I grew up in…and the way it’s built…I wonder if this was some sort of medieval fortress or castle of sorts. Ours was built sometime in the baroque period…this on the other hand…it’s a puzzle. I see contemporary objects and designs and then there’s all the outlandish things like the talking boxes. I don’t understand it.”
“I know what you mean…I did get lost the first few days I was here, at least. I started drawing a map of the places I have seen—of course it’s incomplete, but it gives me an idea of how everything fits together. I don’t need it to get around anymore but it’s a nice tool to have just in case.” He finished the rest of his meal and then took a sip of tea. “Whenever you’re ready, we can take a look at the rest of the manor.”

Christine laughed a little when he called her 'sailor.' “A tour would be very nice, Captain,” She said, before stuffing another fork-full into her mouth before continuing to listen to what he was saying. “Talking boxes you say?” she asked, raising an eyebrow. “That is quite odd...
“I don't think I'll need a map. After all, I've gotten quite used to finding my way around the opera, which is quite a labyrinth – it's the biggest opera house in the world, actually. But you probably new that already.” She took a sip of her tea. “How about once we're finished eating?”

“I don’t know how else to describe it…they’re these boxes about—about this big…” He gestured with his arms to indicate the size. “They’re sort of like…photographs in a way, but they’re moving. And the photographs speak. It sounds insane, I know, but I’ve never seen anything like it…but it convinced me that wherever we are it’s nothing like Paris.” he explained, taking another sip from his tea. He certainly did need to get to the village that must certainly be nearby. He was anxious to find his way back home. He believed that they were all in danger here because of the so-called Phantom.
“Very well—I usually do have a good sense of direction but I wouldn’t put it past myself to get lost in the opera house.” The Populaire—though he didn’t mention it because it was a touchy subject—was bigger than the Garnier. And it indeed was set up like a maze—he hadn’t toured the whole thing but the managers often enjoyed telling him how simply enormous it was. He rather would have liked to have done some exploring when he returned to Paris. He nodded when she suggested they finish eating first and continued eating up the rest of his pasta.

((Oh, there would be pure Hell if Hadders had said that aloud XD especially since the Garnier is not just the biggest opera house in all of Paris – it is, to this day, the biggest opera house in the world. LOL ))
Christine quirked her brow as she listened to the man speak about the strange boxes. “Boxes of moving pictures that speak?... That is very peculiar... No, I can't say that I've ever seen anything like that in Paris before... Where did you see these strange moving picture boxes exactly?” she asked as she finished the last few bites of the cheesy tuna pasta on her plate.
“It will take a bit of getting used to, I'm sure, but if shouldn't be too difficult...” She got up and took her plate to the sink, then sat back down to continue sipping her tea, waiting for the man to finish eating.

“Right here in the manor actually. There was a whole room of them that showed different parts of the manor. I should like to think I was dreaming because it was all so strange and outlandish. And then there was this one room that had a similar machine, but this one talked. It showed people and places and things as clearly as I see you now. It was brilliant and yet…disturbing really. The people on the screen didn’t seem to see or notice me, but I could see and hear them.” He wanted to know exactly where they were, because he knew it wasn’t Paris.
He nodded and then finished up the last of the noodles, and sipped the rest of his tea. “Well I daresay that was a wonderful lunch. Thank you.” he said with a grin as he began to clean up. He put his plate and teacup in the sink and sat back down at the table as he waited for Christine to finish drinking her tea.

“Really? How very peculiar... ” Christine said, finishing up the last few sips of her tea. “Perhaps you shall have to show me these strange boxes when we continue going around. Perhaps the screens are like two-way mirror where they appear as a window on one side and a mirror on the other. I suppose it could be possible to soundproof such a thing if that were the case...”
Christine gave a light chuckle as the man thanked her for lunch. “I should really be the one thanking you. I could never have gotten through those instructions on my own and it would have taken me a bit to figure out how to use the stove in this place.” She stood and put her cup and plate into the sink. “Shall we be off then?”

“Of course, I’d be happy to.” Then she would not think him to be spinning tales—not that it seemed that way at all, but as far as he knew no one else had seen these strange devices beside Christine Ellen, who had shown them to him. “A two way mirror? I’m not sure if that is quite it—the talking one showed pictures of various places around the world, not just ones in the manor. It was like a painting or a photograph, except the photograph moved and made sound.”
“Oh no, no need to thank me, Mademoiselle. It was fun—learning about cooking and such. I haven’t done too much of it in years…and before today the most complicated items I could prepare were sandwiches and eggs—and on a good day egg sandwiches.” he answered with a chuckle. Raoul stood up when she did and nodded, opening the door for her. “Now the mansion as you know is very big, so it might be wise for us to plan out where we would like to go beforehand. There is the ballroom, the opera house, a few music rooms, and a library off the top of my head…which would you like to see first?”

Christine chuckled at his comments about his cooking beforehand. “Well, I am glad that I could be of assistance in the matter, Monsieur. As I said, it really isn't difficult. And honestly it is the least that I could do for you in return for sending this note on behalf of my fiancé to his superiors. I cannot begin to thank you enough.”
Christine nodded in agreement when he said that it might be wise for them to plan out where they were going before they set out. She knew from the exploring she had done previously within the past two days that the manor was, in fact, very large, as she had wandered about aimlessly for quite some time and had become lost previously.
“Perhaps you could begin by showing me around some of the music rooms, Monsieur. It would be quite nice to see something familiar to home. This place is so strange...”
