Erik took Teressa's hand and led her up in front of the stage, where most of the people were gathered. "Everyone, please listen...This is Teressa Lavalais, a very dear friend of mine. If you have not met her, she is a dancer and I am expecting her to be in some of our productions once the opera house is refurbished. She is the ward of Monsieur Erik Lavalais, which some of you may or may not know." He pointed out each person as he introduced them.
"Mademoiselle Adina Gillespie, whom I have a great fondness for, has been helping me with some of the refurbishments. La Vicomtesse Christine Emilie de Chagny, one of our lovely sopranos, and the wife of the Vicomte Raoul Edouard de Chagny. She has been our gardener and cook in addition to being another very good friend. Then there is Christine Lucinda Dallas. I believe she prefers to be called "Lu." I don't know her well, but I understand she is a horsewoman , as is our lovely Ana Goodwin-Hart, who has organized this little affair. My good friend Monsieur Erik Carrière is here. He has offered to help with the refurbishments also. And my new friend Monsieur Erik Castagne, whom I hope to get to know better."
He pointed out the cake and pie that had been brought for the occasion. "So what shall we do, cut the cake?" All this time he was holding Teressa's hand and gently squeezing it. He wanted to whisper "I've missed you," in her ear, but that would have to wait for later. "And how is Monsieur Lavalais these days, Teressa?" he asked.

Occasionally she'd look up to see where Lenoir was and make sure he was at least having a good time. So far it looked like he was. Even when a couple newcomers showed up. As long as he was happy, she was content.
The tall woman with blonde hair she remembered seeing her at the Christmas party and gift exchange. It was Teressa, the woman he fancied so much. It was odd since she was used to Christine being his obsession. Yet she wondered what it was that she possessed that caught his eye. Very bewildering. She seemed to feel more than awkward when Lenoir introduced her. The name Lavalais struck her and her memories of those two weeks spent in his home flooded her. Doing her best to be rather courteous at least, with a smile, but she was now utterly distracted and almost distraught. Wait? Ward?!? A stunned visage overtook her and she blinked but stayed behind the cake. Ward?!? How the hell did she not know this?!? She was in that house for two weeks and never saw her?!! So utterly confused she wasn't sure what to think.
Glancing up at Lenoir to see he moved towards the cake with Teressa. She overheard 'cut the cake' and she sought out the knife as her eyes followed and she offered the hilt of the cake knife to Lenoir with a slight smile. "By all means, Lenoir. It's your honor. You pick the first piece." Trying not to feel or look awkward because she suddenly felt rather awkward and out of place. When he inquired about Lavalais she perked up but tried not to show it as she sorted out the plates, anything to make herself a little busy at the little table that held Lenoir's fine cake.

Teressa curtsied politely as Erik introduced her to his guests. One by one, he started pointing them out to her. There was a ginger girl there, whom Erik said that he had a "great fondness for"...Teressa would have to watch her closely, to make sure that another incident with Erik didn't happen. Then came a Vicomtesse, who was pretty in her own right but didn't look the sort to be an aristocrat. Teressa was good at telling who'd been born into their right and who'd married into the aristocracy. She had good posture, yes, but there was something missing that all aristocrats had. That look of self-confident importance in their eyes. Teressa'd known that look since she was a child, being a Duchess, herself. And then he mentioned that she'd been doing menial labours around the Manor; something a born member of the aristocracy wouldn't DREAM of doing! She smiled a little, straightening up. So far, the company seemed alright...
Next came another Christine, but this one was...different, to say the least. Teressa didn't know what to think of her. She gave off an aura of wildness, for some reason, and Teressa thought perhaps she'd have to look in on it. Then was the brunette who looked familiar. Teressa STILL couldn't place it. She'd remember. It would haunt her until she did. It seemed the the woman had set up the party for Erik. A kind gesture, but for her sake, that had better be it. Teressa only held on that much tighter to Erik's hand, eyeing the girl before moving on to the next. There were two more masked men in the room besides her Erik, and yet both had the same name. Odd...The Carrière one was rather...well...it was an attractive mask, to say the least. Castagne's mask was rather simple, and he seemed to be a quiet man. She shouldn't press him to talk, she figured.
Erik brought Teressa over to an area with confections and she beamed. Ah, cake...she loved cake. Her thoughts over the sugary dessert were interrupted however, by a question from Erik.
"How is Erik? He's fine. Well, he's been down, but then again, he's always down, it seems. He's always been a bit depressed when out of sight of others. Apparently he's been having some hard times with a lady-friend of his, one Christine Daaè. He caused her some strife a while back and he still feels quite guilty, it seems. But enough on that. This is YOUR day, and it should be a happy occasion."

Adina turned her head when she heard Lenoir introduce the dancer to everyone, Teressa... She winced inwardly and moved back a little; she remembered that she- Teressa- and Erik had been in a relationship with each other until just recently. This must be a bit awkward for them both or did that not matter to them now?
She reluctantly looked up and locked eyes with Teressa when Erik pointed her out to Teressa. She gave a sheepish grin and a small curtsey; her face began to turn bright red and she looked away when Lenoir started introducing the other guests to the woman. But then she paused... Lavalais? Could she be related to Erik Lavalais, whom Adina had the fortune of meeting earlier? She had to be; she remembered that Lavalais had said that he came to the manor with someone.
The flustered maid slowly slipped to the back of the group so that she was hidden behind everyone else. She did not like this feeling of butterflies beating about in her stomach and the mere thought of cake only made her feel more upset. Before Teressa came to the party, she had thought of preparing a high tea for Lenoir one fine afternoon. Now that idea was dashed and perhaps she should stop trying to even think that she would make friends with any other men in the manor, save for Erik Castagne; he seemed like a very kind- though shy- man. And the ghost king, William.

Erik was delighted that Teressa had come to his birthday party, however he noticed that Adina had blushed and moved to the back of the other people. He noticed, but didn't really think about it at the moment, for his attention was focused on Teressa.
"I'm glad to know that Erik is fine," he said, referring to Lavalais. Then he spoke a bit louder to the group. "So I am to take the first piece of cake? All right." He cut a piece and set it aside, then cut pieces for all the rest of the people. "We must not forget about Lu's homemade apple pie...please take some everyone." He glanced at Lu and smiled.
Still holding on to Teressa's hand, he led her to a seat in front and gestured for her to sit while they ate their cake ."It's very good, don't you think? It was very lovely of my friends to do this for me. Did you know that...it's the first birthday party I've ever had in my life? I had no idea it could be so lovely. No one ever thought of me before, really."
"And I have never had friends either until I came here. It's amazing. " Erik looked around at his friends with fondness. He felt very lucky. "Some have said the Mansion is a horror and to be here is the worst thing that ever happened to them. For me it has been different, although I thought the same when I first arrived."
Erik finished the small piece of cake he had taken. "Teressa, let's walk about and talk to these people. If they are my friends, they must be your friends too. You must get to know them..."

Hovering at the table with the cake waiting for Lenoir to dive into his cake to take the first piece. Perhaps that will become tradition? Who knew. Yet when the tall blonde spoke she tried not to look at her or pay attention even though she was listening in on the conversation. She owed Lavalais her life at least. Or so she felt. Also, she felt a twinge of envy towards this tall blonde. It frightened her, angered her, but soon enough came to terms and accepted it... whatever it was.
Smiling at Lenoir as he got his first piece, then carved up enough pieces for everyone else. What a blessing he was and a blessing to know him. Taking a piece of cake then a piece of Lu's apple pie - which she was a sucker for apple pie - she moved away from the table to enjoy her cake then the apple pie. All the while, she watched Lenoir and Teressa. Pondering a little more of what they had discussed in the past. She'll watch Teressa closely for sure. Turning her head away as she enjoyed the apple pie, trying to pry her thoughts away from going into something she didn't want to think about right now. It was a festive moment and she wanted to remain in a good, delightful mood for Lenoir. It was all for him after all. "Hmm," as she continued to eat the pie and moved over the Lu, another kindred soul it seemed. "This is great, Lu!" motioning to the pie.

"GAH! I am late!" Roselin yelled at herself as she rushed through the halls. Since she had come here, Lenoir had taken her in with open arms. Where she had become so alone before she now had places to be, places to see, things to explore, and a whole lot more! When she had gotten to the manor for good, she left the world she knew for good, as much as she loved her family, she now had a new one.
Roselin considered Lenoir to be her father now. He looked after her and she got to see him all the time. He taught her and she practiced and she almost never felt lonely. If she ever had a thought on her mind, she could tell him. And now here she was, missing his own birthday party! Of course, since it had been last minuet, she had to get him a gift. So she had to run to the village, and get him just the right thing - even though she felt horrible that she hadn't known is birthday before hand. Roselin then flew through the doors of the opera house, her mind set on Lenoir. Once her eyes spotted Lenoir standing up, she rushed forward, anyone in her way would have been ran over.
She tackled Lenoir, hugging him tightly, nearly toppling them over just like she had at the Christmas party. "I am so sorry I am late Erik! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She said excitedly, though still feeling rather awful that she had missed so much of the party. But better late then never, right? She then brought out her present from her pocket. It was an Ipod much like hers, but silver with a plastic cover that covered everything except the buttons and the screen that was see though except thin lined forestry in black on the back and black earphones attached. On it, over 100 songs were downloaded on it from many many operas. "I'll show you how to use it if you'd like, whenever you want to know!" She said happily, now suddenly being able to look around a bit now that she got to see Lenoir first.

Erik heard someone running and the door opening. He was sitting next to Teressa. He stood up and turned around. It was Roselin! He smiled and waited for her to run the length of the aisle. She was still running so fast he almost lost his balance when she almost jumped at him to hug him. He held on to one of the seats and then laughed. "I'm so glad to see you, dear. But there is no need to run. I'm not going anywhere, and neither are any of the others. I'm so glad you could come....let me introduce you to any of the guests who have not met you."
Then Roselin gave him a strange looking silver item with wires attached and a clear cover over it .He vaguely recognized it as somewhat like a gadget that Roselin herself used constantly. He had no real idea what it was for and hadn't asked. "Thank you dear for the birthday wish and for this lovely present. I shall have to have you show me what it is later."
He took her hand and went up on stage. "This is Roselin, my adopted daughter. I don't know who knows her and who does not, so I will make the rounds of introductions." He started in one corner of the group and continued to the other side.
"Monsieur Erik Castagne is on the end, then Miss Ana Goodwin-Hart, Monsieur Erik Carrière, Miss Lucinda Dallas, Mademoiselle Adina Gillespie, and Mademoiselle Teressa Lavalais. Please everyone, make my dear Roselin welcome and Roselin, have some pie and cake." He came down from the stage and took his place at Teressa's side again, picking up the piece of cake.
Then he said to Teressa, :"She has some family in the village but they largely ignore her. I told her that whenever she was here, she would be my daughter. She's a very sweet girl and I have been teaching her music and other things." He squeezed Teresa's hand softly. "Having Roselin as a daughter makes me realize how protective I feel toward her, and how protective your companion Lavalais feels toward you..."
He took a look at the strange item in his lap, the gift from Roselin. "I've seen her with one like this on many occasions. I don't know what it does. Do you have any idea, Teressa?"

Looking up and turning her attention to see the little blonde girl had arrived, the same one who gave Lenoir the rose dagger for Christmas. She did the same tackle hug to him as she did at Christmas and snickered at the sight as she finished up the pie.
"Excuse me, Lu," as she glanced at the western style woman and decided to be a bold one to meet the little girl. Walking up to Roselin, "Hi," holding her hand out, "I'm Ana. So you are Roselin, hmm?" Trailing off a little as she focused her attention on the girl. She was so adorable and seemed like a bit of fun. Wanting to know this girl whom apparently Lenoir had adopted as he mentioned.

The gathering for Lenoir's Birthday celebration was light and had been going on for a while. The cake was good as was the company and conversation. Even if Lenoir's attentions were tugged all over the place and with the tall masked woman mostly at his side. It was a sight she never really expected to see out of her 'Angel of Music'... so see someone else he was interested in let alone someone interested in him. The fact that so many were here, it left her speechless most of the time. It was a far cry from years ago at the Paris Opera Populaire, a reclusive man whom all feared and loathed. That definitely was not the case here, not any more. Lenoir was a different man. The image now brought a weak smile upon her face.
She had spent plenty of time here. There were other things that needed to be attended to, especially Gustave. She was hoping to bring the boy here with her. Her son should meet Lenoir and at least get to know him better. That was an idea she was more than comfortable with. Taking her leave from everyone else in genteel dismissal, as she had learned while being a Vicomtess, even thanked the modern woman Ana. Lastly, she strode gracefully towards Lenoir's general direction and halfway in the direction of the exit. With a bright smile as usual, and held herself very well, "I must go now, Lenoir," glanced towards the doors at the back of the theater, "I have to get back to my son." She didn't know how else to talk to him, to wish him well, or anything. "Hope it continues to be a blessed day for you." With that, she then made her way towards the exit.

Erik had been deeply lost in his thoughts, more and more recently he seemed to be going off into a daze. It took him moments to realize that the Vicomtess had started to converse with him. He had only a moment to greet her back when she had started to look for conversation else where. Erik sighed slightly and rubbed his neck quickly. He had never been good at parties, but he seemed to be getting worse.
There seemed to be so much going on and yet almost nothing at all, it was strange. Maybe it was because everyone else was busy having conversations and he was standing around like a fool. Ana seemed to be talking with a shorter blonde girl and Lenoir was still very much occupied. It then seemed that the Vicomtess was already making her way towards the doors to leave. Erik sighed and wondered if he should do the same. But then he shook his head, maybe he could have a slice of cake first and at least try to converse with someone.
