Teressa took Lenoir's hint and stood, keeping a hold of his hand.
"Erik, Claude is nothing to me. He has only ever talked to me, but he has never shared any signs of affectionate feelings towards me. He's only ever exhibited concern when I am upset, and otherwise he's acted quite friendly towards me." She urged Erik to join her and walk out of the Opera House with her.
"I would enjoy spending some time with you as well, Erik." Teressa smiled at him, taking his hand that she was already holding and enveloping it with both of her hands. "Let's do something together...a walk, maybe? Or some tea...?"
She knew her suggestions were weak, but after fighting for so long, all she wanted to do was make up with Erik, even if that meant working the relationship back to a point where they could be more affectionate with each other...assuming he still wanted affection right now...

"Teressa, do not let me tellyou what to do, but I tell you that Claude is a demon, a dangerous demon, and I do not use that term in a merely metaphorical sense. If he has shown concern and friendliness for you, it is only a ruse. Believe me, he is not your friend. And I am not saying this from any feelings of jealousy, only concern for your safety. If Claude is nothing to you, please stay far from him."
Teressa seemed to wish to leave the opera house. and she told him that she would enjoy spending time with him again. "Yes, I have missed you, Teressa, and what's more, the thought that you disparaged me for something that I had done, really as a joke and quite spontaneously, took its toll on me. I am relieved to see that you no longer feel emnity toward me and that you shall take me back."
"However, the question of your protector is always before me when I think of courting you. I do not think I should have to ask his permission, considering you are a grown woman and I am 46 years old, far too old to have to do this sort of thing. I shall confront him and tell him that we are going to court...it is as simple as that. I am of good character. I expect he will not find anything wrong with my background." Lenoir was expecting that Lavalais would know nothing of his years at the Opera House. Those years were behind him now and of no consequence. Lenoir had changed, and for the better.
