The Manor loomed over them as Erik brought Amiina to the stables. Once under the shelter of the stable roof, the temperature warmed, if only a little. He hated the cold, and wondered if Mademoiselle Gillespie was uncomfortable and just not saying anything. No matter, he wouldn't press the issue. Spurring Amiina to the dismounting block, he slipped off of the horse, then held his hands out for Adina.
Erik wondered what the girl had bought while she was out in the village. Perhaps something familiar to his tastes? More than likely, that wouldn't be the case. He'd seen so many strange and foreign labels in the pantry that he hardly ventured up there unless he was desperate.

Adina smiled and extended her hands towards Erik as he helped her down from the horse. She dismounted easily and smiled at the phantom. "Merci, monsieur," She said with a gentle nod. The maid was very surprised at how gentlemanly he was, much like Lenoir. It was very nice that chivalry was not dead, as they often said in this era.
The young woman looked up at Erik and saw that he seemed to be glancing at the bag of food she was still holding. "Do you like macaroons? I could not help but pick up this little box, it looked so lovely. It says it has chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry." She smiled at the container. "I have not had French macaroons since I was a little girl growing up in France with pàpà- I-I mean… My father."

Erik smiled. "I shall try some. I usually don't eat much of anything except that which I cook. I'm usually quite picky, if you'll forgive me that flaw." Erik laughed a little, his very rare melodious, low laugh. "I suppose it is because I am French. We French seem to be born with certain tastes."
Erik reached up and grabbed Amiina's reins. He led the horse into her stall, then locked her in. He whispered a few little compliments to her in Persian, talking sweet to her. He truly did love that horse.
"Do you need any help getting these inside?" Erik planned to escort her anyway, regardless of whether she accepted his help or not. This was just a more polite triviality, to him.

"Well, I would be honored if you could teach me the sort of meals you enjoy. That way, if we cross paths again, I could make you one of those dishes for your own enjoyment." She smiled happily and giggled. "Oui, I understand, monsieur."
She gracefully slid off the horse, bags in arms as she exhaled triumphantly. She really didn't like much help but she was beginning to learn to accept help from others when it was offered. She looked up at the horse and smiled; it was much more well behaved than most of the horses she had seen when she was young. Perhaps it was because they were driven by royalty.
"Perhaps," Adina began, tucking two bags into one arm before standing on tiptoe to grab the third one. "You would be a gentleman and carry the heaviest one for me? Please?"

"Of course I can, Mademoiselle." Erik reached up and grabbed the heaviest bag for the girl. He tucked it under his arm, then led the way back to the Manor.
"So, what sorts of foods do you enjoy?" Erik asked, opening the door to the Manor. He held it open for her, watching her. She had a good grasp on the bags she carried, so he didn't have to rush to help her any more than he was. They walked down the corridor to the kitchen together, and Erik kept his polite distance while they spoke. He looked at her when he spoke to her, as anyone with manners would, he supposed. She had a sort of look in her eyes that reminded him of Teressa. It was the look that Teressa got when a man approached her. Teressa had always been a little wary of men, and Erik couldn't blame her. After all, with her past...
Perhaps this Mademoiselle Gillespie had had a similar ordeal? He wouldn't ask, that would be impolite of him. But he could wonder...

"Merci, monsieur," She smiled and gave him a polite curtsy of thanks. "It is nice that there are some men here who do show some sense of decency around a lady."
"Oh, mostly French foods, but I am willing to try any other exotic delicacies, should you have something in mind," She smiled joyously. She had often wondered what German and even Indian foods tasted like. The idea of curry sounded very unique and delicious because she loved spices. "What do you enjoy most to eat, monsieur?" She moved a little bit closer to him but not too much. Best to keep a bit of distance between them just in case, she thought. She had slowly begun to grow more accepting of help from others and gradually became more relaxed and comfortable. Her heart told her that this man had no devious intentions but her mind was cautioning her to keep her guard up. At least for a while longer.

"I actually enjoy foods from many regions of the world, and I've learned to cook regional dishes from the places I've lived...If there's anything that you'd like to try, I would not hesitate to make it for you. Cooking is an art of it's own, and I find it very relaxing and quite enjoyable." Erik nodded as they walked to the kitchens.
"I've lived in many places, as well...Italy, Austria, Russia, India, China, Egypt, Persia...And learning new recipes has always been a source of entertainment for me, so if you'd like to give me a challenge, I wouldn't mind." He laughed a little, flashing the girl a smile. He hoped that the scars on his lips weren't too noticeable this evening...

"That sounds wonderful, monsieur!" She smiled happily, her eyes bright and attentive as she listened to him. Surly this was a blooming friendship in progress, especially if involved someone else who enjoyed cooking as much as she did. But now she was going to be learning new dishes to prepare from different countries: Italy, Austria, Russia, India, China, Egypt, Persia! She began to feel overwhelmed with joy.
She began to feel the infectious emotion Erik was displaying, she laughed a little with him and smiled in return. It was so nice to be having a conversation about mutual interest. Food often did bring people together to share in stories of travels, experiences, and other wonderful things. "It must have been wonderful to travel the world… I wish that I could see those countries, but alas, I cannot due to my connection with the manor." At that she frowned sadly… Perhaps she should tell this man about her past and how she had previously been a ghost.
